Nice place with its own atmosphere a few steps out of the noisy Fifth. We really liked the service and food. You can easily find vegan options in menu and as for traditional Mexican food - really good place to try. Also they have cozy bar and good choice of Mexican cocktails and even Brazilian caipirinha. Bonus: Live music and space for dance 💃🏼🕺🏻

I have only words of praise! The food is great, the staff are really nice, plus they often have special offers, such as 2 mojitos/margaritas for the price of 1 and the cocktails are quite good, too. We were there 2 times at the beginning of August and they had a young female singer and a guy accompanying her on a guitar both times and they were really good, even took requests. 😊

Lovely spot with good food. We enjoyed the live music. My wife had the lobster pasta. It was rich and filled with a generous portion of lobster. My flank steak was well prepared. Service was good. Lots of variety on the menu. Give it a try.

If you go to playa and you like to be entertained while enjoying delicious food and drink then make sure to stop here . It is a charming place that comes alive at night. They have different acts playing nightly so stroll down and check out their coming shows or give them a call. It’s always a delight.

I had such a lovely meal here. I actually didn’t realise that the tapas menu was only after 5pm and I turned up at 2pm, but they still made me an item from the menu which was extremely nice. Service was great too, believe I was served by Antonio.

We visited for a drink and a quick bite. Service was initially fine but towards the end of our time we could not get anyone’s attention, and our drink order didn’t arrive. Eventually we went to the counter to settle. Caters mainly to an older crowd and the live music (an Elvis tribute act) was pretty terrible. Overall, wouldn’t return.

What a great place. Live music, cold beer and good food. Right by the beach and close to other shops along 38th. Also for Canadians and other hockey fans… if there is a big game on, they’ll have it on. We watched Canada win World Jrs 2023 there, the place was packed full of Canadians.

Had a great breakfast here! Plantain, eggs, fruits and coffee. Service was great and the location was beautiful! The ocean breeze kept us cool while we are. 😊

I put 3 stars because of the location... But the food I had was below average. I guess this place is really targeting Canadians and Americans; and it feels to me like a cliche of what tourists think of what a restaurant in the caribbean should be. No problem for those you like this kind of place, but for me, it is not my thing. I had low expectations, and it was even lower than what I thought. Maybe for drinks it could be good; or maybe I was unlucky with the food who knows...

The best place in town for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The service is exceptional, waiters like Jose, Willy, Sergio makes this place unique. I love their tuna sashimi, their burgers, their breakfast so far everything that looks have eat here is delicious. The live music or even the ambient music it’s always on the perfect level of volumen to be able still to have a conversation with someone. If you are a digital nomad, I’ll recommend it too, they have fast internet and it’s great to work outdoors. If you haven’t been in La vagabunda 38th, you are missing big time. Thanks Vagabunda!

It is a great place. Whether you sit at the bar or at the table (that has a view of the beach), there is pleasant music, nice waiters and all the things I have eaten so far were fantastic. It is super for Sunday brunches or for an evening out. Good prices, good specials... I will go again and again... I am readind the prices they list below in US $...

They have a buy one get one free deal for breakfast that makes it extremely cheap. Just pull up their social media post advertising it and show it to the waiter. The food is great too. Music was a bit loud and soft drinks are a bit pricy. Otherwise a great place to visit.

Do not get anything with ice. I like the food, music and the servers but twice now I have gotten extremely sick afterwards. We usually eat at home because we are weightlifting and this was the only place we have gone to recently. Now I am so sick and weak since it is the second time in less than two weeks. I believe it is from the ice in the drink. It was the only thing that was the same both times. My husband had a beer but we shared food. He did not get sick.

This restaurant was a mix of goods and bads. The goods - - Excellent live music - Delicious generous drinks (the kids had La Fresa con yoghurt and La Maldita con grande, adults had a pina colada and a margarita) - the Volcano nachos looked beautiful (wished it had more veggies though) The bads - - the food was so-so (we ordered fajita veggies and enchilada veggie verde) - no complimentary chips/salsa etc I'd actually give this restaurant 3.5 stars, but 0.5 star extra for the service (especially for the chef who pointed out that the beans had pork in it so that we vegetarians could avoid it, thank you sir) Maybe would come back for a drink, not the food.

Great ambiance with live music (young lady & man). We had a memorable night here. Shrimps fajitas con queso and daily fish (red snapper) were great. Some dishes can be a miss like the chicken wings and fish bites that had too much coating. Service was extremely slow about 40 min to get dishes. But overall we recommend.

We tried the soup at La Vagabunda 38, they were amazing!! Live music most nights and good drinks near the beach on 38.

Up there with the best places to eat in plays del Carmen. Food, service and atmosphere was excellent. Waiters were very attentive and friendly. We had breakfast here most mornings and in the two weeks we stayed I don't think I had the same breakfast twice. Had a couple of evening meals here too. Cheap unlimited cocktails between 9am and 4pm. Live music I think every day and very popular in the evening. Would definitely recommend.

We had excellent service with a smile while eating at LA Vagabunda 38. The food was fabulous. We had Patatas Bravas, mixed ceviche with tortilla chips for appetizers and the flank steak, oh the flank steak! My husband thought it was better than the fancy cuts at the swanky steakhouses. I had the red tuna steak and it was also divine. They had live music, which I personally enjoy and found myself singing along. The atmosphere was so nice with their grass roofed cabana style, outdoor eatery. We appreciated the shade from the mid-day sun for sure.

This place is amazing! We had the pleasure of having dinner here today (April 13 2023) and it didn't let us down. This is the first time I've been to Mexico, and we heard about this place through another guest at the hotel. He said, "you have to go here!", so we did! Our server, Manuel, was amazing. I can't speak a lick of spanish and his English was perfecto. He made our experience so pleasant. He wasn't overly chatty but was confident in his job. We started with a few drinks, and the spinach filled epanadas; wow is all I can say. Then my wife ordered enchiladas, and I ordered the chicken tacos. I've had some amazing tacos back home, but there's nothing like it untiĺ you've had one in Mexico. I know this sounds cheesy, but it's true. I liked it so much I ordered another round, lol You get 3 tacos with each order. Let's just say my tummy was happy. Our bill topped close to $100.00 CDN with a 20% tip, trust me that was well worth the experience. My wife loved loved her meal, she'd been to Mexico over 8 times, and she said this was the best Mexican food she has ever had. If you come down to Playa del Carmen, you need to stop into this place for food. This place also has live bands and shows, and is very popular among the locals and tourists. You're also a half block away from the beach, it's all just +++++ Do yourself a favour and check out this place! I 110% recommend this restaurant 🤜🏽🤛🏽😊

A restaurant that does not look any special from outside but the food was really delicious! Best fish and shrimp tacos al pastor we have tried. The waiters were very polite and attentive. Definitely give it a try.

Great food. I liked the Mexicano breakfast combo the coffee was so strong and good. I'd recommend it if you're in the area.

Came here for brunch. Service was great - love musicians. The saxophone player was great but when the band started they played a bit slower songs. It just didn’t suit the vibe. Secret here is to upgrade to the bottomless drinks option. You get two hours you have to wave the servers down a bit but that’s not abnormal.
