The statue of Mihai Viteazul honors and brings a historical charge to the city of Ploiesti.

On November 30, 1997, I went to Ploiesti specifically to participate in the unveiling of the equestrian statue dedicated to the Lord of the First Union - Michael the Brave. The people of Ploiești were celebrating 2 events: the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city by Mihai Viteazul himself and the Great Union of December 1, 1918. I wanted to be present because it was also the moment when a decades-long dream of the people of Ploiești was fulfilled, among which I also lived in the 60s and 70s. Here I am posting a photo taken on the very day of the unveiling, when the rain accompanied the festivities.

The pedestal is degraded. We don't know how to value our heroes

How could I describe this monument in a state of disrepair? I understand that it is a free sight, but that does not mean that it should not be restructured, where do the public funds go? Certainly not mine, maybe the county mayor's!, or to the councillor, I believe that history in a certain way has its value regardless of whether it is expressed in books, monuments or buildings. It's a pity, Mr. Mayor of Ploiești County, but we also saw wonderful and modernized things, we are in the campaign of elections and ignorance. Amen.
