The Tao of Tea is hands down the best loose leaf teas ever. I love the containers that the teas come in and the flavours in the tea are so refreshing and calming at the same time. I gave several cups a day and it helps me digest.

Love this place! A wonderful selection of tea from various countries. Beautiful atmosphere. I don't love the pyramid sachets in the boxed teas. I once had an osmanthus tea here that was probably the greatest tea I have tasted of all time. I would love to know what kind of plant forms the indoor canopy here. Is it grape ivy?

I have loved this place from the day it opened. Knowledgeable staff and the owner is an amazing visionary bringing relaxed tea house culture to the States. I’ve moved away but, never fail to go when I’m in town. Nothing like it. Simple fair to snack with fine teas served in traditional style pot and service that matches the region of the tea. Simply unique earthy decor. The tea shop always has wonderful gift options and the best quality tea selections.

Cozy vibe. The genmaicha, which I typically LOVE, was a bit bitter but there are so many tea options. If you go back repeatedly you will surely find a favorite. I liked the popular home style dal but the Chana chaval was a little too spicy. The best dish was the crisped-to-perfection aloo paratha

Lovely tea place. Food I would day 4 stars : good vegan/vegetarian variety, but wouldn't go there for food. The tea experience is amazing. For tea 5+ stars Best tea in terms of quality, selection, and pricing. You can enjoy gaiwan style tea and the servers will tell you steep times (I'd recommend looking at YouTube on how to to gaiwan if it's your first time). Everything is authentic from the chai to the matcha. You have to flag down your server for a check or extras. (They will check in to add hot water though). I think that's actually a good thing because with tea you don't necessarily want to be checked interrupted often by a server.

Relaxing atmosphere with water displays in the background, low lighting, plenty of tea options to choose from. There's a little section in the menu for light food options and desserts. There are about 8 tables so we had to wait a bit before being seated. They also have a tea store (in a separated area).

Having not read any reviews, I was surprised to find that this was a sit down restaurant - I was expecting a coffeehouse vibe! The food service was fast (and delicious). we ordered the almond cookies and veggie potstickers with sauce and goji berries. There were only about 2 goji berries, but the sauce was delectable! I was excited to use my chinook book coupon (thanks for participating!) and ordered the Snow dragon green tea and the Red Bush chai tea latte. Both teas: would order again! I’d like to try the leaf room sometime when it’s open!

Beautiful store very much worthwhile to go inside and admire the aethetics of the place. Earthen colors; natural look, artsy and well lit. They mostly sell tea from Asia, very high quality I would note, but in addition to this, they sell a few types of tea from South America noteably the Yerba Mate and the smoked Mate, and they have an African herbal tea for sale too. So mostly teas grown in Asia, but not exclusively. The merchant was knowledgeable about the varietals. If you are looking for a tea cup or a teapot, consider viewing their selection.

For people who love tea or want to know the various types of tea offerings, this place offers a wide gamut of tea options. The tea is served in various types of tea pots and cups which adds to the experience. I wish the place was a bit bigger but then that could take away the relaxing ambiance of this place. Overall a great place to relax and enjoy tea!

Loud ppl next to us, but the tea experience was awesome! Individual tea pots, freshly brewed. My chai was so gentle I just wanted to take it all home with me. And the baklava was amazing, not drenched in honey but still very sweet. The bread!!! That was so good, we wished we got 2 orders. Definitely a wonderful experience

This establishment exudes a charming old Indian dhaba ambiance with a delightful, positive atmosphere. While the Indian chai didn't quite meet our expectations, the samosas and dahi vadas were truly enjoyable. The server's politeness added to the experience, and the clay utensils complemented the overall aesthetic. Consideration for a slight expansion could enhance the capacity. The decorative touches, such as kettle and piggy bank motifs, added a touch of whimsy that we appreciated.

I see my acupuncturist here. She is just so wonderful. I almost don't want to let this secret out. I will add as people ask questions.

Great little spot for affordable eats and delicious tea! Cozy environment with knowledgeable staff. I had Tulsi Chai with almond milk - loved it! Friend had lavender and it was incredibly flavorful.

Was in the mood for tea and Google showed me this place. And so I pulled up. I'm so glad I did. The atmosphere is relaxing and welcoming and the tea is amazing! I wanted something sweet and strong and settled for the 500 Mile Chai with Indian jaggery and oat milk. Such a great combo. I would love to come again next time I visit Portland!

As a tourist in the Hawthorne / Belmont district I chanced upon this tea room. Went inside and the hostess / waitress offered us the extensive tea menu which also had some very diverse food options. We tried a couple of varieties of their tea and loved the quality, presentation and service. The staff made the experience so much better as the waitress in particular was knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Strongly recommend

I've been to all of the tea houses in Portland, and this is by far the best. The atmosphere feels like a traditional tea house, very inviting, quiet, with authentic decor. The tea is consistently incredible, and all of the staff make great recommendations. This place is great not only for the tea connesouir, but the tea beginner as well. If you haven't been here yet, you are missing out!
