We had a great breakfast at the Original Pancake House in Poway, CA. Lots of great breakfast options and the kids love the pancakes and waffles. Diane was an outstanding waitress and she recommended extras to the kids for their pancakes like blueberries and chocolate chips. I had the Greek Island Omelet which was fairly good.

Boy are we stuffed after a delicious breakfast here! The servings are massive and most things on the menu actually come with a side of pancakes. The omelettes were incredible!! So fluffy, flavorful, and absolutely stuffed full. They had gluten free pancakes which honestly tasted like regular pancakes just not as fluffy. They weren’t the best but it’s always a treat to find gluten free pancakes at at a restaurant. The pancakes came with real maple syrup, yum! They had indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was very friendly. Coffee was not good but the mugs were adorable and maybe other coffee drinks would be better.

I have come here off and on when in town. After giving birth 23 years ago I made my ex and my mom go there and get me these pancakes!! Can't say enough good about them.

Great service with friendly staff. Food is reasonably priced for the large amount that you get. We were lucky and had a short wait this morning at 8am.

It was our first time trying this place and it was awesome. We stopped by for breakfast and ordered chocolate chip pancakes with a side of American fried potatoes. The pancakes were light and flavorful with the quantity being more than enough for 2 people(6 large pancakes in a platter)! Finished it with French vanilla cappuccino which was equally good. Definitely recommend this place if you are in the mood for pancakes!

Me and my children are visiting San Diego from the UK and our friends recommended this place for pancakes and the kids wanted to experience a stack of American Pancakes….what can I say….absolutely amazing! A massive choice of pancakes the kids had never heard off. Our server was amazing and was able to answer all our questions and made my kids at ease and we chatted. Massive portion sizes that I couldn’t eat mine, but the kids devoured their! We are excited to go back on Friday to try the waffles before heading off to Denver for our next adventure.

I came for brunch on Sunday and it was great. There was a wait but it went quickly because they have lots of seating inside and out. I ordered the Dutch baby with an order of potatoes and a vanilla cappuccino. Very delicious! My friend ordered the gluten free pancakes with sausage on the side. The staff was friendly and it was a great place to meet up.

Had a late breakfast, so got seated right away. Had French Toast & bacon for the first time in a long time, and it was SO good. The bread they used was thick & fluffy; the bacon nice & crisp; I made sure I had leftovers for the next morning!

Very good breakfast/brunch place. A lot of menu options to order from. The Mediterranean Veggie omelette is what I ordered and it was really good. Every bite releases great flavors, sun dried tomates, basil and feta! They keep refilling the coffee. Pancakes and French toast were also good. They have screens between the tables to keep it distanced. Servers were wearing masks which was good! Overall very good Sunday brunch place!

I was in the area looking for breakfast and found this place. There were a ton of menu options, but I settled on the Turkey Chiotle Benedict. It was so good! I also kept the potato pancakes that were great. If I was in the area longer, I'd go back again to try other things. Service was great and I'd definitely recommend.

Always a fun time catching breakfast here. Can be a bit of a wait, so I suggest going before 9am ideally. The omelettes are HUGE, and also come with 3 small pancakes too. I get the ham and cheese omelette, and highly recommend it.

The German pancake was huge and delicious. The service was good for how busy it was. Very crowded seating arrangements, they should consider expanding or a new location. I recommend reservations otherwise you will have to wait quite some time.

Get there early unless you don’t mind the wait. It’s a nice family-friendly restaurant with good service and great food.

it was alright. when we came in the morning it was super busy but the girl at the front helped us get a seat quickly. our waiter was also very attentive and pleasant. ill talk about each item we got. the strawberry crepes I got were good but they were a bit too eggy to my liking. the strawberries were fresh-tasting but they also looked like they were thrown on the plate. the french toast was okay, nothing special. the eggs benedict was good and the egg was cooked perfectly. the bacon was overly salty and the texture was not crispy but more chewy. the deluxe potatoes that we got tasted a little off and the ingredients didnt blend well with each other. the apple waffles that we ordered thought were going to be caramelized but they were just plain sliced green apples with a bit of cinnamon. the waffles themselves were not buttery at all and the texture was like cardboard 😢 the dutch baby was average. the hot chocolate did not have milk it was just powder and water so it was kind of gross. 50 cents for a refill is a bit pricey too for the amount given. probably will not be coming back to this place

We used the Yelp app to put our group of 13 senior citizen hikers on the waiting list about 30 minutes before our arrival. To my pleasant surprise we we seated within minutes at a large shaded outdoor table with a gentle breeze. Every person enjoyed their food. The omelets were huge and savory. My strawberry crepes were fresh and so I covered them in whipped cream. The apple pancake made an impression on the whole table with its immense size. It required 2 boxes to take home the leftovers. Thanks for the great experience.

Food & service are equally excellent! Hostesses are friendly (that's a deal breaker for me, believe it or not). Special requests with orders are always made with perfection. Bravo to the kitchen, hostesses & serving staff! I'm a local guest & the thing I'd love to see improved is the crammed table set-up in the middle aisle right when you walk inside the restaurant. I'm usually a party of 2 or 3, and we notoriously are seated in that awkward crammed aisle of tables. It's so uncomfortable...you feel the air from the door constantly opening & closing...it's just really unpleasant. When asking for another table, it's a much longer wait, so we are kind of stuck and stay put for that reason. Also, the tables and menus getting consistently wiped down is huge for me. I want to feel like we didn't just keep booths and tables extra clean during the pandemic, but this is a regular practice for all restaurants. My guests and I often have to ask that our table and seats are wiped down here, bc we are sitting in booth crumbs and holding sticky menus. I don't want to deduct stars from the other excellent things going on at Original Pancake House in Poway, but I hope these things are improved upon. Thank you. 😊

They forgot the brown sugar and butter but instead sprinkled the smallest amount on the top and sent it anyway. The apples were tough and rubbery as was the pancake. This is NOT what these have looked like for the last 10+ years. Very disappointing. I EVEN HAD TO USE THE NASTY APPLE SYRUP!! And it was STILL dry.

They earned a 3 because my daughter loved her sausage and my husband enjoyed the pancakes. I do understand this restaurant is a pancake house and my mom taught me to order what their specialty is. Well, I don’t really enjoy pancakes, but my family does. The crab cake egg Benedict should be removed from the menu. It is awful! The flavor was WEIRD, I can’t even put my finger on it. It’s one of my favorite breakfasts, so I’ve had a lot of them. It also gave me a stomach ache. My daughter also did not enjoy the French toast. IF we go back pancakes only!
