Went today with my husband and 2 kids for a Birthday Meal. The service was abit slow and took a while for us to get our main meals. The table and chairs were sticky. The food was a big let down. Ordered the chicken pasta which had absolutely no taste compared to previous visits. For just over £15 for a plate of pasta it was very disappointing and presentation was the worst I've ever seen. The chicken was just thrown over the pasta. It was a very disappointing Birthday meal and I don't think we'll be returning.

May have ordered too much, food is decent and staff were very attentive and friendly. Would recommend their wagyu burger and Fridays chicken wings. Admittedly, i owed my friends a meal and they took advantage leading to a ridiculous bill of £60/pp with one of them ordering 3 milkshakes. Normal meal would only set you back £30-35/pp.

I have been eating here for years now but this time… OMG - this was the worse service I’ve ever had for as long as I remember. The waitress was rude and sarcastic and treated my family like we were third class customers!!! At some point I wanted to get up and leave but that would ruin my family’s dinner. A table of 7 of us and we ordered quite a lot to share and then mains. We got served and then our so called “I’m your waitress and I’ll be serving you tonight” vanished! We wanted more drinks so we went to the bar since nobody would attend to and “how’s your food? Would you like more drinks”. So I approached the bar to order more drinks and the barmaid said: “you’ll need to order to your waitress - I can’t serve you here”. So I went around the restaurant to find my attentive waitress to order more drinks! Nobody bothered to clear our table or clear the empty plates - we had to stack them at the end of the table hoping we would get someone’s attention… no luck with that either!!! NO Manager in the restaurant to touch base and check whether their paying customers are being served properly. No management at all!!!!

Food was good, maybe my beef was a little bit overcooked but it was fine, there will be no regrets. Just leaving this comment because of their excellent service, one of the best you'll find in Reading. 5* staff.

The table and seats felt sticky when we sat down. The food was cold and not sent together. I have allergies so ordered at the same time but was told it would be cooked separately. I could see the pass from where we were sat and a meal was put there for a long time. 15 mins later the rest of the family got their meals, mine did not come, we asked and was told it was coming... Guess what, the one on the pass was mine, a long time after it was made. When I made comment when it was finally delivered (most of the family had finished their meals), and I got a very snotty response from the waitress saying it was under a heat lamp so it's fine, and implied it's my fault for needing an allergy free meal. The burger was COLD and overcooked, the bread crispy and chewy. Not a pleasant experience at all. I make tastier burgers at home myself. You cannot blame it sitting on the pass for so long being due to waiting for the rest of the table as they had theirs well before me and mine was cooked first. Why did I have to wait after theirs arrived? Overall a good waste of money, I won't be returning in a hurry!

This place is going DOWNHILL!!! We visited this on Friday night and we had our 10 week old baby with us in his pram…sleeping. We asked for a quiet table and they sat us in the middle of the restaurant. They didn’t tell us that they had other customers with birthdays and without a warning the staff started shouting on the top of their lungs - I understand this is a TGI Fridays thing but you need to be considerate of everyone and especially infants!! My partner ordered a steak cooked medium. It arrived Rare and we had to send it back. Her steak arrived 20 minutes later and after everyone else finished their dinner - that’s fine. The waiter said they would remove it from the bill - fair. But when the bill was presented to us…. Instead of removing it - we got charged twice!!! That made me so upset as I noticed it just before I paid with my card. I had to call the waitress (she was nowhere to be found since she took our order) and she rectified it without an apology!!! I was so upset that these staff members bring this place down - I am never setting a foot in this place ever again!!! Someone should have a serious one to one with the manager…!!!

The chicken wings at TGI with the JD glaze is absolutely a dish worth having every day if I could And you can’t miss with their burgers either What really taints the experience is the wait, part of the reason we went for a takeaway is that in our previous visits we waited for about an hour before being served our food The takeaway is slightly better, you get a slot when the food will be ready, I was there on time and still had to wait of 15 minutes before getting our food My conclusion is that as long as you have the patience one can enjoy a lovely meal otherwise it won’t be

Have been coming here for years and it’s always been pretty good. The food is nice, and the staff are always super nice and friendly but clearly overworked as things move pretty slowly and there is often not many staff around. I always leave happy. Seems a lot quieter than it used to be, maybe because another branch opened up in the town centre. It’s a shame because the other branch is pretty terrible.

I booked a table for 4 to celebrate our daughter’s 12th birthday, when booking the website asked if we were celebrating anything - yes I stated, the birthday. Great I thought, maybe they will do something for her. We arrived at 6.45 and were asked if we were celebrating anything. Yes we said, it’s our daughter’s 12th birthday. Great I thought, surely they will do something to make this memorable. For the first hour everything was OK, quick service for drinks, our starters and main arrived and the food was fine. At 8pm we have finished the meal and from then it was a very poor experience. We couldn’t catch the attention of a waitress, most of them were apologising to other tables about delays. Eventually we managed to order a final round of drinks which arrived at 9pm - our plates were never all cleared away and there was no celebration or mention of her birthday. By the time we left the kids were tired and bored - the restuarant was a total mess as they were clearly short staffed - we’d been there for 2 hours 20 mins - having wasted an hour at least. Overall - I would not recommend TGI Fridays - it’s expensive and it took far too long.

TGI Friday's has one of my favourite menus. The ribs and ice creams are great. Our visit was let down by a long wait at the door to be seated and slow service on our table. I've been to TGIs in the USA and they're constantly watching to see if you need a drinks refill. When we visited our waiter disappeared completely for a long period of time and none of the other staff were interested in looking at you so you couldn't order a refill. I'll still be returning next time I have an excuse to go to Reading, but it's a shame that the experience could be so much better with a little more effort from the team.

Had lunch at around 1.30 pm yesterday. The New York Strip was cold and somehow I felt the steak was not a quality beef and not up to expectations. (My inferences). For £25., the steak comes wit a measly half (not whole) cold tomato, a black button which looks like mushroom (cold) and some fries. There was no sauce along with the steak (there supposed to be) until I ask the waiter for it while eating the cold steak. When I ask the waiter about the sauce, he politely ask me what steak I am having. He can’t even recognise the steak even though there are only two types on the menu. I requested for the peppercorn sauce, and it came in a small ceramic cup and the quantity was only 2 tablespoon full and cold. After the meal, I made a mental note, “ if you want a cold, no quality medium done (look like rare), steak with half a cold tomato, half a black cold button like mushroom, 2 tablespoon of cold sauce With some fries for £25.00 “ get the TGIFriday New York Strip steak. I do get better steaks from Cafes in London for a better price. Quality , fulfilling and cooked just as you order, so it nice and hot. Oh, the music was loud that day.

First time trying TGI Fridays, went on a quiet Sunday at 7pm, starters got to us a hour after arrival, which was mediocre to be honest, £9 for two small corn dogs is mad, thought it would of been more. The mains were ok but burgers were very dry, not sure if they'd sat ready in the kitchen for a while or not. Can't really recommend this as a good place based on this first and last experience

This was a very last minute drop in and I wasn't expecting to wait for 10 minutes to see a worker let alone walk all the way through the restaurant to the kitchen to get the attention of someone, two other people were waiting with me, one was a deliveroo driver and another was a man wanting to drop a cake off (he also came to the kitchen with me to be seen!). In the end the waitress was lovely and hospitable however it didn't make up for the long drawn out beginning. The food was nice but nothing to rave about, I had the chicken strip starter which was cooked perfectly and was hot.

Can’t believe how bad it has gotten. The food is suddenly £18 for chicken fingers and chips, the staff are not friendly or good with children (which I thought was their whole thing?), I asked for a milkshake which was always my favourite but it has now changed which gave me a panic attack (I have autism) and the staff were not overly considerate about it. They also ‘ran out’ of colouring so my 2 year old sat there screaming and banging his fork the whole meal. I am so disappointed and will not be going again. The whole TGIs atmosphere has gone.

Came to TGI Fridays on 2/01/2023 and what a mistake. Our table was booked for 15:15 and we had to wait for our table. Once in we were waiting to be served for 20 minutes, then waited an extra 40 minutes for our drinks to arrive, which when they did there were drinks missing. Waited for the extra drinks. When it arrived our alcoholic drink was put in front of my one year old baby and were missing the straws to drink the daiquiris with. Food arrived, and our garlic bread was black, even the waiter said it was awful and he’d get us a new one and take it off the bill. Was going to have dessert but was left for ages with our plates in front of us so decided not to. Asked for the bill twice and waited half an hour for anyone to come over. Asked to speak to a manager as the garlic bread was still on the bill and was just appalled by the service. Manager seemed apologetic however is was making excuses of broken fridges and short staff which I can understand, however not really an excuse when TGI Fridays isn’t a cheap place to dine and would 100% expect more for our money. Really upset by this and doubt we will revisit, had a plan of a big party table coming up but will try and find an alternative. Ended up only having a main course and being in over 2 hours.

Only popped in for cake but what an absolute delight the staff are, especially one I suspect was a manager. For that alone 10/10. Fantastic customer service and the food was nice too.

Had a fantastic meal hear everything was cooked well and tasted delicious. But I was most impressed by the service. Was served by one of the managers I believe her name was Jenna. She could not of been more helpful and at attentive . Nothing was too much trouble and consistent service with a smile. I’m not normally one to rave about service as I believe it should be standard part of dining out experience/ but Jenna really did go above and beyond.. can’t wait to return

The cocktails and the burgers were great. The only negative was the sweet potato fries I had were cold. The manager was helpful and took them off the bill.

This vist was OK, burger cold and very very pink in the middle. Didn't complain as I was very hungry. Staff I think was busy as top up drinks wernt flowing as normal and didn't get the service we usually have. Told them their was a birthday they were aware it was a birthday, 2 others had the balloo hat and cake, our table did not except happy birthday have a good day and thank you for the tip. A bit disappointed, but usually a good time and a good dinner.

Completely disappointed. Went here with my wife and 2 kids last Friday as a treat as they finished school for Christmas. Booked up online a week beforehand. We were all really looking forward to it. We were greeted by a friendly gentlemen who sat us quickly and said “someone will be over to take your order soon - any problems, let me know”. After sat at the table for about 10 mins, I could feel a cold draft on my back and neck which was really uncomfortable. I looked for the gent who sat us but couldn’t find him. A waitress came over to take our order - I asked if we could sit somewhere else as I was cold from the front door. She said she would ask and left - never to be seen again! Another waitress came over to take our order - I explained that we’ve been sat here for now 25 mins and I was very cold by the door. She went away and came back after a few minutes and said that there were no more tables. I pointed out 4 x tables all cleaned and ready to go, “can’t we have one of those tables” I asked. The reply was “no, they’re reserved for other people but we will keep the door closed for you”. I politely complained further but they said there was nothing they could do. The door was closed for about 30 seconds and then was open again for the remainder of my meal. I ended up eating my meal, shivering with my coat on whilst staring at an empty table away from the door. Starter was okay, main meal is too expensive for what it is. I was too cold to have a dessert. My Son’s plate was dumped on the table without warning that the plate was very hot - so he burnt his fingers. The table wobbled at every move we made. It was too dark to clearly see anything - only the booths had lights above them. Spent £105 and we all left miserable wishing we had of gone elsewhere. I work in retail customer service myself and if I can make a customer happy by just doing something simple for them (like moving them), I’d do it in an instant, with an apology and probably give them something as a goodwill gesture (so they feel valued) I couldn’t believe what poor service we received. Is it too much to ask to be comfortable in a restaurant? I just wanted to move to an empty table 10 feet away. On reflection, even if the table wasn’t an issue, the rest of the whole experience (food, value, friendliness etc) were all below expectations.

This is my first time visit TGIF. Randomly picked it for a lunch as my first time visit Reading. The food are delicious. I would say it is amazingly great. Sam (?? just the name written on the bill tray) is caring and helpful. So glad to see him.

It's TGI's you can't go wrong food is always tasty, bringing all the drinks to the table at the same time would have been nice and I'm sure trays have been invented! That said the server was very good

  • 5/5 A H. 2 years ago on Google
I walked in today annoyed, hot and grumpy. I won't lie, I was short with the greeting staff and for that I can only apologise. However, they were very professional, and we were seated quickly. My server asked how I was and I told him we were hot and bothered and hadn't had a great day - long journeys and difficulty navigating the Reading one way systems. 🙄 He added an extra cookie to my milkshake and was very kind and attentive. Before I left ( after tipping - because people that don't tip good service are terrible ) he brought over a piece of cake and said he hoped I would get to enjoy it on the way home and that my day would improve. I left almost tearful that my terrible start ended with such a nice experience. Thank you so much
