I’ve never had such a bad travel experience than staying at this hotel. First off security is on your behind from the moment you walk in through the door, hounding you for your room key upon entering. There was a crazy long check in line, seemed to be very understaffed. The balcony was so small. I could barely stand on it. The pool was even smaller. And I think I counted 8 pool chairs for the entire hotel. They host conventions so don’t even think about getting any rest when those people go to their rooms. The balcony sliding door doesn’t block sound at all and Brazilians use their horn to alert other cars when they erratically drive so you hear the horns ALL NIGHT LONG. The tv was very small. The mini bar had like some water and 2 cokes in it. The rail of my shower fell off. Absolutely horrendous experience I left after 1 night on a 7 night reservation when it was advertised as a very nice hotel to stay in and I encountered all this problems and I didn’t name them all.

The best part of the hotel is the view (if you get an ocean view room). It's totally worth it just for the view. Having said that, our room was a bit dated. Old carpets, some stains, bathroom not updated and not enough lights etc. The rooftop pool also could use some maintenance, but it works. Food is not bad, the kids room needs some work as well, but the kids were happy there. The staff is great especially at breakfast. Tip 1: since its a huge hotel, check in and check out can take time so plan accordingly if possible. Tip 2: Also, they offer beach chairs but they run out quickly. There will be others offering chairs, but negotiate and if you get food or drinks from them it'll be 2x the price so just be wary.

(Written by the misses) This hotel is not a 5 star hotel. The deco is absolutely awful, looks tired and outdated. We upgraded our room to a superior sea view room with VIP access. I paid nearly double of the original price, only to find out they were fixing the room on the floor above us. We heard constant drilling as if it was inside our room. I called reception to complain about the noise, and they told me they were replacing a sprinkler in the room above, must have been an epic spinner using a hammer drill (which is what it felt like, my teeth are still chattering from the vibrations). They couldn’t stop the work guessing the fire safety reasons, but that’ was no sprinkler being installed.. I asked why I was sold this upgrade, he told me to hold and put the phone down on me. I tried to call reception back but they never answered. The balcony looks very unsafe, heard a noise when stood on it, the sliding doors to the balcony were cheap, we could hear all the noise from the street (we were on the 24th floor). I will never stay in this hotel again. I don’t recommend it. I think that the owners should close it and refurbish it better and make it safer.

I would give this hotel 0 stars if I could. Staff on the desk are slow and incompetent. Staff around the pool on the top floor are so rude and ignorant - extremely slow with service. Waiting over an hour for a can of coke and sandwich. They wave the card reader in your face while you’re eating to pay !!! They only want to talk to you if you are Brazilian. Absolutely out of order for an international hotel. The breakfast is absolutely disgusting - no choice of food, stale bread, runny undercooked eggs. They put food out at 6am and it remains there till 10.30am. Nothing fresh added. The photos of the hotel on their website / online are FAKE. The rooms are very old and outdated. Definitely not a 5 star hotel, absolutely mis-advertised. The balcony is barely a balcony. It’s about 30cm wide just big enough for you to stand on. No furniture or even a chair can fit out there. The only positive about this hotel is the lovely cleaners who do a good job every day. Other than this, the hotel is very very poor standard. We were really disappointed with our two week stay. Stay away.

One of the tallest buildings in Copacabana, rooms with a view gets amazing sights. Unfortunately the hotel is in Huge need of an update. The rooms looks old and smell humid, even the Bed linen was old and stained. The food at the restaurant located at the rooftop is delicious but it doesn't offer a huge selection probably because of the pandemic. The breakfast included is standard and acceptable. Over all it was not a great experience, a little disappointed although I must say considering the price/comfort is not a bad deal. The location is excellent.

Great location - rooms are very dated for the price. The bathroom needs an overhaul for sure. Overall clean and good breakfast

The jewel in the crown of Copacabana.. Situated in the middle of Copacabana Beach this older establishment has much to offer both the business and vacation traveller. The rooms are definitely old and quite dated...however... this is certainly something I can overlook when I consider the price and quality equation for such a prominent location and the vast size of the beach front view suite with separate lounge dining and cooking facilities with a floor area of at least 110 square metres with a 270 degree view. I strongly suggest booking a suite which grants access to breakfast on the 30th floor...far away from the madding crowd . This restaurant at the top floor was a highlight for me each morning.. the staff were extremely polite..helpful and genuinely enthusiastic to provide exceptional service all with a smile..I will truly miss their smiles each morning.. they are a credit to this hotel. Just as a side note.. I am heavily involved in the hotel sector.. this is not one of the hotel chains I represent..However.. I was genuinely impressed and would be privileged if my own staff could provide such service.. Even from the check in ...when I arrived at 10 am for a 3pm check in... Suelen at reception was extremely friendly and helpful.. arranging such an early check-in is near on impossible at most hotels. The attitude of the majority of the staff is 10 out of 10. There are a few better known name hotels on the same beach... though value for money..this is my favourite without exception

Rooms were clean and the view from the Lateral Mar room was spectacular. Breakfast in the morning was average but coffee was very good. Clearly an older hotel showing signs of age however considering the price I would come here again as it’s very clean. As mentioned in other reviews the staff is a little slow but very nice.

This place is in a nice location. The rooms were nice. The breakfast was great and the towel service was very helpful. It has a giant gym in the ground floor.

I'm not sure we could have picked a better place for our home base during our stay in Rio. You could spend a week in the immediate area and still find great food and enjoyment. The location provides for great evenings because you can walk to so many places. You have a night market out front of the hotel, and the copacabana beach steps away. I would not waste any time looking for another hotel should I return... this one served all the needs. Oh yeah... they have the best free breakfast I've ever seen. 10+ fruits, various breads and cakes, 6+ drink options, and so many other things. Very good hotel... oh yeah, one more thing... security monitoring access 24 hours.

Disappointing stay in the hotel to be honest. We checked in at 1am and the room was dirty - bathroom and carpets. The room was also not what we reserved we asked for a double or king and given a twin! Staff were slow at the reception and roof bar. The breakfast was poor - food and staff. Always ran out of beach towels so had to make do on the beach. Perfect location because of the central location on the beach. Would I stay here again - probably not.

Pretty bad business experience. We booked the conference room for 20 people, and (1) there was no working wifi for a full day, (2) the projector kept blinking badly the whole day, (3) they kept drilling the wall in another room and so it was hard to hear coworkers. (4) I had to give a presentation so I went to the toilet a minute before and it was lock, so it was overall a bad experience. On the positive side, the restaurant is excellent. Amazing view and food.

The view is about the only good thing about the hotel. Customer service is not good, and the pictures are definitely better than the hotel itself.

Haven’t even gotten to the rooms yet but the absolute worst check in/out operations I’ve been in or seen in my life (and I’ve stayed in 40 hotels just THIS YEAR). Wow. Check in is 1 staff and moves about 1 customer every 15 minutes. We entered the line 10 people the amount of time/movement we have been here is unacceptable for the amount we have spent for 4 ocean view rooms for 4 nights.

This place is in a nice location. The rooms were nice and the ones with the beach side balcony has a nice view of the beach. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you plan to have a friend who is staying in a nearby hotel stop by for a quick drink before heading to the beach. They treat the visitors of the guest staying there rudely. They don’t let the visitor go up to the room. Perhaps I can understand these restrictions later at night for security reasons, but not at 10:30 am. I’d recommend staying elsewhere with better hospitality. Edit: I bumped up the rating a bit. The guest thing seemed to only be an issue 1 of 4 days. Most of the staff there was friendly. This is a very busy hotel.

Everything is fine and acceptable for family. As greater issue i only see that penthouse shared pool water is blury since day we arrived and thus not sanitized/treated properly. So we do not use it.

Good hotel, great location. The hotel is outdated, it looks as the hotel has not been renovated in a long time. The prices are good, average but this is not a luxury hotel, it’s more of a young crowd, more with loud guests. The breakfast is included in the rate BUT it’s a zoo! There are way too many people and depending on the time you go for the breakfast, you may not find a table! Lol it is totally worth getting a front ocean room. We got a high floor ocean front. The view makes it for the loud youngsters guests and the breakfast in a zoo! Lol

Awesome location, ok breakfast but it gets boring after 2 weeks. Staff are friendly but the hotel is a bit dated and more like 3 stars and not 4 star accommodation. Biggest issue was the single glazed patio door on room that had no lock and had a huge gap in it when closed so you could hear everything outside which meant hardly a decent nights sleep in 2 weeks. The sink and shower plug holes also took ages to drain after using them.

Our check-in was set for 15:00 and we asked if we could pay to check-in early. The hotel was fully booked, so we waited till 15:00... That was ok and understandable but we waited till 16:00... 17:00... 18:00... and this is not a very nice experience. Do not recommend this hotel specially if you are staying in Rio for just a couple days. Very disappointed and frustrated

The hotel needs a good refurb as it feels quite dated but can’t complain as it was clean and comfortable. Huge comfy bed and great shower. (Amazing water pressure) Lifts are a big problem due to amount of people using it during peak hours but that’s not an easy problem to solve. The views are incredible.

Great location for Copacabana with stunning views if you pay for the ocean view. If you book the lateral ocean view, make sure to book a room on a high floor, or you view will be of unattractive buildings. The hotel is huge. If you’re doing during high season, expect lots of people, insufficient staff at the front desk and long waits for the check in/out. The pool is nice, but much too small for a hotel that big. The gym is in the basement, with low ceiling and a big leak with water dripping into a bucket on the floor. The room and furniture are run down. The breakfast is decent, at best. The staff is the highlight of this hotel. They were kind, helpful and well spirited.

+ Great location + Nice and spacious room with beach view and comfortable bed + Beautiful rooftop terrace and good restaurant on floor 30 + Friendly staff - Slow check-in - Breakfast not very good and crowded, especially on the weekend - The food in the hotel bar/restaurant on the ground floor was disappointing - Rooms and hotel are a bit dated - Long waiting times for the elevator

HATE AND LOVE ...Its always long cue at the reception due to slow or too.many people. Worse things is the reception dont pick up the phone often. Room interior is old, floor carpet is some part dirty but you have a millions dollars view. The bed and pillow is thin, however you can spend a bit of extra money to buy some blanket and pillow if you are a long stay like me. I really dont know either thr computer.system are slow or its too many demand ... The receptionist is always busy.

Very nice location and services for the right price. Othon has spa, beach towel service, pretty nice rooms. Great restaurant on top (30th) floor, roof top pool, sauna and fitness. Compared to Fairmont or Fasano which costs 3-10 times more, this is sweet spot for location and price. It’s one of those “good enough” places. Building is a bit older but quite acceptable coming from a Hilton Diamond guy. Location and available facilities make all the stars. Check in takes a while. But overall great value. Oh and book the see view. It is so worth it.

Nice spot close to the beach. At the reception two employees were great, Mr. Joao and Miss Suelen. The others were not as friendly. Problem with bathroom maintenance and no coffee machine. Overall it was good experience.

The Hotel has an amazing location but the inside of the rooms are pretty old and basic, there’s not even a USB charger. Restaurant was average and I wanted hot water to make myself a tea and they charged me lol. There’s only 2 staff working on the check in/out desk so be ready to take a while to get settle in. Staff around the hotel are pretty rude. The housekeeper it’s ok, if you don’t let them know they need to clean the bathroom when they tidy up the room they won’t. Found some small roaches in the bathroom and the floor was cracked.

Good location hotel! They are in front of beach. When we go to beach, we can rent towel and chair at hotel.

As a English speaking tourist I would avoid this hotel. Based on over a 1000 stays around the world the service here is poor and I feel like a second class citizen. Locals are definitely preferred at every level. Avoid!

I am writing this because I have a lot of time. I am waiting for checkin for 2 hours already. Anyway, the hotel is fine, but it is one of those affordable "luxury" hotels. Which means it is falling short on the most important quality of a true luxury hotel, which is SERVICE. I am guessing the Staffel is horribly underpaid, which would somewhat explain their rude and inconsiderate attitude. And seriously, if your check in line is long enough to hand out tickets, perhaps add more staff or streamline the process. When i checked in the concierge was typing stuff into into computer for- I kid you not - 20 minutes. Even though I already registered all my data online. Bad

Very, VERY long wait for check-in… I waited almost 3 hours at the reception to get the rooms, and of course the checkout needed to be at their time otherwise I would pay an extra fee. HORRIBLE SAFETY AGAINST COVID at the breakfast area, super crowd area, with no ventilation, and tables super close of each other. They offer gloves to people use while serving the food at the buffet, but there is nobody making sure people are doing or not , so it turns kind of “optional”, I also saw many people not wearing masks while serving their self at the buffet and there was no staff to warn or restrict these people.
