First time staying here. We had a King room on 5th floor. I was so surprised to see a trundle bed. Great asset if you have kids traveling with you. This was the first time ever seeing one in a room no matter where we have stayed. Room was clean, plenty of hot water and very comfortable bed. I would stay here again.

CONS: BREAKFAST IS NOT FREE!! Its a normal self serve buffet but you will be charged $16 for what a normal FREE Holiday INN breakfast is. In fact it has less options than the last 10 Holiday Inns I've been to the last few months and those locations were free. Rooms had a kitchen, stove top but nothing to cook with? The only thing theu have to cook with is 2 small bowls, 2 small plates and 4 cups, which weren't even clean. No silverware, paper towels etc. TV's are nice and big but no way to change the input for your personal device. My room window, on the 5th floor, was attached to the lobby/restaurant side and the noise echoes so bad you can hear conversations of people when u are trying to sleep. The hotel staff didn't have any change for me to use the washer and dryer. Had to drive to the store for quarters.. PROS: comfy bed, always had hot water, strong and fast internet connection.

My wife and I had booked a stay for Sunday 11/21 and Monday 11/22. We arrived to find the facility wasn't very clean, dirty and garbage in a number of areas. The room itself was reasonably clean, except for in the bathroom it appeared that someone had spilled a liquid on the wall next to the shower and it hadn't been fully cleaned. The room was in the fourth floor, with the window above the lobby. Sunday's stay was ok, reasonably uneventful. Monday, we had been out in Roanoke and returned to the room about 5 P.M. There was very loud construction noise, drilling, hammering in close proximity to our room. We ignored the noise for about 45 minutes and then contacted the front desk. The person who answered the phone said that there had been three other complaints and security was going up to advise them to stop. The noise continued for an additional 45 minutes. During our entire stay, there were a number of children present in the lobby. By the appearance, they were children of a hotel employee. There was also a dog present on Monday afternoon/evening. The children made a great deal of noise, screaming, hollering and crying. This was happening up until right at 11 P.M. Tuesday morning at 7 A.M. the construction noise began again. Hammering, drilling and cutting of metal. This noise woke my wife and I up, and prevented us from sleeping. We gathered our things and went to check out. My wife spoke to who we believe was the person in charge to reiterate our problem with the noise. The woman that she spoke to initially lied and said that she wasn't aware that there was construction noise happening. In the next breath, she said that the were converting part of the hotel into an extended stay facility, she apologized, not seeming very sincere. We were not notified upon booking the room that there was construction happening, there were not any notices posted in the lobby and nothing was mentioned by the clerk at check in that there could be construction noise. A complete waste of money!

My room smelled, the refrigerator had raw food in it as well as rice, the ac unit vents were dusty and the shower was dirty. Apparently there was no one in housekeeping. The lobby was nice, but it was hot.

HORRIBLE SERVICE! We reserved a King Premium room months ago with points. We are Diamond members. At check in we were given 2 queens with a really old bathtub. One bed was shoved against the wall, a couch that really didn’t belong was crammed next to the other bed. There was no desk. The shade was broken so light was shining in the window. We asked to be moved to another room only to be told the football team caused them to be sold out. I asked for a refund of points. We will let management know about this mess. There was no manager on staff at check in. The desk person claimed we didn’t get the room we reserved because the “system” made an error. Would not stay here again!!! Very poor services all around.

Love staying here. The rooms are always so clean and the staff are incredibly kind. Not to mention that they genuinely have your comfort and satisfaction in mind. They certain go the extra mile to ensure that you have everything you want and need for a pleasant and comfortable stay. I highly recommend them to anyone that needs local accommodations. Whether it be for a single night or an extended stay, this is definitely the most logical choice to me, and it should be for you as well.

Terrible time!! I'll be honest. I don't think i have ever stayed in a dirtier place in my life. Didn't clean rooms at all. Trash piled up in the hallways. Loud as H - ll!! All night. Staff was rude, other than bartenders both Brian's. Food was actually decent . Really shocked for a holiday inn!

We are Platinum Members with Holiday Inns (we have over 200,000 points) we have traveled cross country a few times. We should have read the reviews first !! Older style room, phone not connected to front desk, no ice bucket, towels were thin and useless. Had kids running in the halls at 11:00 pm so finally I went out and asked them to stop. 11/18/23. When checking out I tried to tell the front desk person and he did not hear me I question as to whether he was deaf or not. I repeated myself directly to his face and then he heard me.....Left a 5 am so didn't have breakfast, WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN. !!!!

Definitely ruff around the edges. Even with new renovation that were obviously done on the cheep. Not a fan of the black carpet in the rooms. Trying to not turn on lights to disturb partner sleeping to find something on the floor hides by the black carpet. Breakfast is an extra charge.

I've picked some not so great hotels in the past, but this one has hands down got to be the worst one that I have been to ever. Please don't waste your time or money staying here! I could tell as soon as we walked in the door and started down the hall to the elevators that this was not going to be good, but it was 100 in the morning and we had been up for almost 24 hours at the point which included the 5.5 hour drive to get to this hotel. There was smell that permiated throughout the entire hotel and our room of old, musty and dirty. The floors were littered with just stuff, the laundry room, which we had to pass on the way to our room had trash all over the floor and you could tell there had not been any cleaning in there for a bit. When we got to our room lets just say that its a good thing that i always bring my own cleaning supplies with me because I had to wipe down just about everything! I literally had to scrub the bathtub before Id step in a take shower because it had not been cleaned out in who knows how long. It was apparne that it was simply rinsed but never cleaned. The bathroom floor had stuff all over it and surfaces of the nightstands had permanent stains and spills on them. I had to clean the mirror as the streaks were so bad I could not see myself. The smell was the same and the ac had been turned down to 62 degrees which we figured out was probably to cover the smell of the whole area. The furniture was stained and just not inviting at all. The walls are so thin that I was woken up at 500 am by a man in the hallway outside of my room talking as loud as he could to no one, and even being on the second floor the sounds of anyone talking outside by the window sound as if they are in the room with you. Their "business center" consists of one outdated desktop computer and a wireless printer that will not connect to anything to print. I had to stand at the front desk for about 15 minutes trying to ask about the printer while there was literally no one at all around. Finallly the front desk cleark for the Candlewood Suites side just happen to mention that the front desk staff had all apparently left to go to lunch, and she didn't know much about how to connect the printer (this business center was one of the biggest reasons that I chose this hotel) The website is completely false. The free coffee in the mornings is just the old leftover coffee from overnight with hardly anything to use in the coffee itself. No creamer and very little sugar. Coming back from dinner on the second night my fiance and I came through the side door which was supposed to only be accessable to guests with a key card, but it was being propped open with a big rock for anyone to come and go and it stayed like that the remainder of the night as I went down a handful of times to smoke. The ONLY good thing I can say about this hotel is that the bed was comfortable, until I was woken up by loud hall dwellers. Save yourself the time and trouble and just go to the Hilton Garden Inn...I wish I had this time around.

Good - Lobby is nice and our room was fine. Bad - No towels. TV did not work. Phone also does not work. So, we had to go to the front desk to ask for maintenance. Ugly - Breakfast was extremely limited. Asking $10 for person seemed hilarious. We had to wait over 30min to get checked-in as they could not find our reservation.

We enjoyed our stay. The staff was so kind to accommodate our late request for a block of rooms for our travel soccer team. The staff was nice, the rooms were clean, breakfast was good (especially the hash browns). Beds were a little soft but there's a nice big Samsung TV in the room and the water pressure in the shower was good. The lobby and bar was a great space to hang out w/the other parents. There are a TON of plugs in the rooms and the lobby so plenty of places to charge up. The kids had a great time in the pool. All in all, a great stay.

This hotel looks to be in a renovation space so it's fairly nice walking in. Unfortunately the staff is clueless because it seems they lack proper training. There was only ONE time I asked for assistance, and the person at the desk was able to help..one..and that was to get extra towels. Upon arrival, the front desk couldn't figure out how to apply points to the room or how to contact the company. She activated the key for only one night so we were locked out after a long night and had to go back downstairs to get it fixed. We weren't aware breakfast was from 6a-9a until we go downstairs for breakfast (that we paid in advance for) at 947a onyl to be told its over. Then, I asked for a trash bag or laundry bag and the night staff couldn't find them or figure out where they were. Upon leaving I wanted to be credited for the 3 days of breakfast that we didn't eat (about 50 dollars) and the front desk couldn't fix it without the next person. I was supposed to get an email about it as I was headed home (7 hrs away)...Never received.

Easy peasy! Nice hotel! Not all rooms come with a kitchenette but this one did. Very nice and cozy. Bed was comfy and channel selection was nice. I could hear my neighbors toilet flush but hey... What can you do... 🤷🏾‍♀️ Overall nice hotel.

I stayed at the combination CandleWood Suites / Holiday Inn hotel in the month of Feb 2023. I would like to get the good items out of the way. The lady with the beautifully styled nails and reddish/purple hair was wonderfully patient helping us and others to get checked in. She was organized and quickly able to get me checked in. Talking to her was a delight after a long trip. We attempted to use our key cards on the side/north entrance and it would not work. The light would turn green and an audible click would happen but turning the handle down would not open the door. When I went inside to inquire about this, two very old grumpy white ladies were dismissive and insisted I was doing it wrong. When I returned to open the door from the inside, another guest clued me in that the door was in fact broken and the handle had to the turned up to open the door. This feels like an ADA violation as the handle. Our room was incorrect. It was a single king bed. We booked a two bed room. Once again the fridge did not function(What is with hotels and fridges not working?). Since we were staying overnight only I was too exhausted nor wanted to be talked down to again. The shower door bars were not screwed in tight. The bar came off and I had to reattach it. When attempting to adjust the shower head, it came loose and water started spewing everywhere. Upon inspecting the shower stall itself, there was black mold accumulating in all the corners like a long snail trail. The bed for the few moments I was able to get to sleep was comfortable but car alarms kept going off, people running down the hall, and smell of cigarette smoke was disturbing.

The place was clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and check in and out was very easy. Unfortunately there were some loud guests at night, but that isn’t their fault. We will be staying here again

I chose the hotel for the ability to pay using my points. Convenient location and truly needed some where to lay my head and shower. No knocks on the accommodations, hotel is rebranding or merging Holiday Inn to Candlewood Suites. Check in was long for no real reason. On my 2nd night I returned to my room key deactivated and they literally had to walk me to my room to let me in. No issue as I was checking out the next morning and was not going back out that evening. On checkout I asked about the pending charges assessed to my account two days in a row. I was told they would fall off once I checked out. They did not, I was charged for incidentals. This process with all hotels is incredulous. I’ve disputed the charges, told twice that they should have never been charged, however no one seems to be able to credit my card. Because I don’t trust the hotel, I’ve also disputed the charge w/ AMEX. I was going to say no knocks against the staff, however none of them seem knowledgeable enough to help. “the system” “the manager” “it will drop off” I understand things happen and have been patient. I should not have to chase and continuously follow up – that should be the hotel’s job. Additionally, I've had an AMEX for over 8 years with zero fraud. Someone manually input my card to purchase gas in Texas, I live in North Carolina. 99.98% positive it is a result of someone at this hotel capturing my card information. I will never use this location or brand again.

I attended a company meeting at this location. Very clean! Friendly and helpful staff! I didn't room here, only went in lobby and conference rooms. Clean bathrooms! No mask requirements. All of my expectations and accommodations were met! I would definitely stay here overnight if I needed to in the future. Very close to local malls, shops, restaurants, and conveniently located within 10 minutes of the Roanoke-Blacksburg Airport.

Beware. I think the hotels reviews on other platforms are fake/paid. The hotel rooms are absolutely disgusting and so outdated. The rooms need to be gutted to and remodeled. We had to switch rooms because our door wouldn't shut properly. I should note we arrived late at night and the door to our room was open which was unnerving. It appeared that the bed had been slept in/not changed. When walking to our new room we noticed most doors to other rooms were not fully closed. Weird.

Review for Candlewood as thay are in transition here. Definitely my worst IHG experience to date and the worst-run property I have seen in all my years as an elite IHG member. The property is a construction zone. We checked into our room only to find a gigantic hole was cut out of the bathroom ceiling with exposed pipes. We tried another room and there was no countertop in the kitchen and someone had taken a dump in the toilet and not flushed. Third through fifth floor had trash all down the hallways. Eventually had them switch me to the Holiday Inn side where I found toenail clippings on the floor and hair in the bathroom. Huge fail. Spoke to the manager, who did nothing, and only made things right after a lengthy complaint to the front desk staff and IHG customer relations. Avoid this place is a huge understatement.

Room was clean and quite. Hotel very pet friendly. Lady at the check in desk around 5:30pm 3/31/2022 gave our Buster a doggie treat. The guy at the bar was very friendly and suggested the Cuban sandwich and I got unsalted fries to share with Buster. The guy working the bar in the morning at breakfast time 4/1/2022 was most pleasant and in a chipper mood. Told us about the breakfast buffet and where we could sit with our dog Buster so we could have breakfast he even brought Buster a bowl so I could share eggs with him instead of feeding from my hand. I wish I had gotten these mens names. Would love to stay here again I think everyone went above and beyond.

If you wish you have air conditioning, power & housekeeping throughout your stay, I wouldn’t suggest here. We were never brought new towels during our 4 night stay, housekeeping never came to our room & they shut the power off while our girls were getting ready for a national pageant. They also advertise directv, but you really only get about 12 channels (not even local channels). We also did not have a toilet paper holder. Completely unacceptable.

The hotel is cool... The real treat is the awesome bartender named Brian! He was very helpful and engaging. The drinks were great and he was so nice. Love the layout of the hotel as well.

It was a great room. Staff for breakfast was really nice but knew when to leave us to enjoy our breakfast. Made reservations for a candle wood suite and after driving around for 30 minutes looking for it we stopped at a holiday inn. No outside signs stating it was a candlewood. But we finally arrived.
