Really nice vibe, heaters for the outside tables, good service, and food comes out quickly. Good wines, great to see local wines listed, and plenty of beer options. The beef burger and croquets were good. The carrots were a bit disappointing in that they were quite expensive considering what you are getting. Was great for a quick bite. Although it was 2pm when we got there so may explain how quick the food and service was. Cost us $120 for three people. We only had one drink each, 2 small share dishes and 2 burgers. Not a cheap option that's for sure.

Love coming to the Hallertau and have been very regular, usually impressed by their great tasting meals, but this time was left very disappointed in the portion size of the fish crudo. Usually a great dish this time only containing a few slices of fish but still $22. Mentioned to the waiter that we were unhappy with the dish, he just said he would let the chef know. Would've expected more from a popular local restaurant

The food we ordered is great! Steak with the smoked flavor which is perfect! Roasted cauliflower is perfect with the sauce. Everything is great with the good weather. Besides the #2 beer is the best!

We loved this place. Their beer is outstanding! I had a Hazy ipa with my lunch and got the DIPA "to go". Great atmosphere- outdoors but with overhead coverage in case of rain. I got a burger but the pizzas looked really good (thin crust with generous toppings). I highly recommend it.

I've been here once before, and both times I've thoroughly enjoyed the food. I'm not much into trying beers, so I can't speak to the selection, but really enjoyed my cold larger. The service is timely and the staff know what they're doing, even if slightly reserved. Lovely location (it looks and feels a little like a tropical island destination), good atmosphere, topped off with great food. I'd definitely recommend a visit here if you're in the area.

Place and atmosphere was amazing. The man as a Floor manager not professional enough for this kind of restaurant. Food was average quality for adults but unfortunately kids crispy chicken burgers was awful. We ordered 2 sets for our children but just they ate some chips and didn't touch the burgers. When I checked the food find out need to agree with kids. Chicken was over over fried like peace of bone and bun was old,dry and looks smashing before serving.

Great brewery close to Auckland. Ypu can choose between the outside sitting or inside next to the beer. A huge variety of locally brewed beers. Apart from the regular brews there are also some more exciting tasting beers. If you can't try all you like to you still can get a bottle to bring home. Staff was absolutely friendly and assists when choosing the right beer.

Recommend. Food was excellent, service faster than expected. The pizza arrived at our table within about 5 mins of ordering. The beer ice cream sundae is totally worth it 🍧👌🏼‏ Just best to book as they don't always have spare tables for walk-ins.

SPOT ON! Often when we go to a brewery we have low expectations of the food, but the food here was so well elevated. It’s been quite tricky for me to find good sour beers and ciders in Auckland, and merci to you I’ve had one of my all time favourites today! Tangelo cider was just the best, not to say that the aged sour wasn’t. Service was amazing as well, despite having a tiny issue with our order our server managed it in the most efficient manner. Good job and thanks for all your hard work team! Can’t wait to be back

Genuinely one of my favourite lunches I've had in Auckland! The pizza was nearly perfect, the hot chips were the best I've had in a long time, and the flight of beer was brilliant. Such a nice location too and good vibe.

Last winter we were adventuring across New Zealand’s North Island during the Fifa Women’s World Cup and when we ended our trip in Auckland the Hallertau Brewery caught my partner’s eye. The German beers caught his “beer nerd” attention and the food menu sounded perfect in the chilly weather. We came for the beers but it’s the food that we’ve kept talking about. The wood fire honeycomb Brie may have been one of the best things we tasted during our whole trip. It was tasty, smelled amazing and just looked gorgeous. The fries with smoked mayo were a fantastic starter and then we shared the lamb shoulder. It was flawless and fell off the bone. It was the perfect example of how good New Zealand lamb can be. We loved the drinks we had too. We did the beer and cider tastings and some of the descriptions for the beers were humorous. The drinks and food really complimented one another. Even though it was a quiet night at the brewery it had a such great vibe. The servers were attentive but also chill and were very kindly talking with us tipsy chatty tourists. We’d both love to revisit one day and can only imagine how fun a place the beer garden must be on a summers day. We’re so happy we went and I highly recommend it!

Only had the pizza, but it was amazing (venison sausage, pesto, smoked feta, walnuts), great beer selection, and staff exceptionally good, quick, and helpful. I only post reviews when things are very good or very bad…. This was very good. Took a while to get seated (granted, it was busy, being a sunny Sunday afternoon), but then everything we ordered came out extremely quickly. Definitely going back.

I came in a couple of days ago for lunch with my family. The waitress was very welcoming and provided my younger brother with some crayons and an activity sheet. There was a fine selection of beer and the pizzas we ordered were delightful. (The mushroom pizza’s the way to go). It’s amazing to find that the fries were super crispy, as well as the jalapeno poppers being very spicy! (To my liking). There was an outdoor kids playground and games to play which is very convenient for children. Overall, I had a great experience here. Prices were reasonable, food was amazing, and beer was great! (Pale Ale 100%) Definitely will be back.

Good value, food & drink was excellent. Service could have been better but loved the atmosphere. They had a great DJ playing and were family friendly.

Great vibes with a DJ playing good music and amazing beers brewed in house. The food was fantastic value and definitely worth a trip out to Riverhead. Great friendly staff with fast service. Would recommend for large groups and child friendly play area

What a lovely place to enjoy afternoon sundowners and really good food. You scan the QR code to order. Food and drinks came incredibly quickly and the food was mind blowing delicious. Lovely selection of beer tasting but only 1 choice for wine tasting, but still delicious. Highly recommended.

The food's okay but you should really be here for the brew and setting. Great place to relax with a little playground and connect four stand for the kids.

Pizza was delicious and the atmosphere there was fantastic and beautiful Staff were super friendly and Emily, one lovely girl named Zella, she welcomed us and gave us wonderful recommendations (because we asked for) and the dessert she suggested was heavenly 😍 Definitely will go back there x

A fantastic Brewery, I went to the distillery at the back Thomson Whisky New Zealand. It was a great day with friendly informative staff. Mat Thomson was on hand to offer a lot of information about the whisky making process, operation and design of the still. Their whisky is absolutely fantastic and it us clear to see why they have won numerous awards. I would happily recommend for anyone to try their whisky, I am going to get some and send to friends to help more people know about Thomson Whisky. I would be happy to go back to Thomson Whisky New Zealand anytime.

Stopped in for lunch. The place is nicely laid out with plenty of room to move. The food was fantastic, I will let the photos do the talking but yum yum. The jalapeano poppers were out of this world. Not much heed to vegetarianism but enough to survive. The craft beer was supremo...I would recommend any of them. I had a cloudy concoction which was mind numbingly good. The service staff were genuine, friendly and very helpful making it w=easy for us to accommodate a wee one. It is a little way out of town but on the motorway it is close time wise and what a great place to enjoy a beer and some food and good company at any time.

Hallertau remains my favourite restaurant and we have been coming here for many many years. Our service today was friendly and so efficient - the food came out super fast & the food itself was divine. Recommended by our waiter, the mushroom pizza is a must!!! The atmosphere is always great with music playing and a lovely courtyard. Dog friendly too 🤩

Had a great trip out to riverhead in the forest then made it back in time For lunch and had a pizza and the beef croquets and they were outstanding. Took home a flagon of the mr yakimoto. Service was fast and friendly and this place is definitely going to be packed out this summer. Sterling Arnet Kakapo Business Sales

We came here on a whim - was driving back from the beach and saw a sign for the brewery and decided to stop in and boy were we glad we did. we weren’t sure what to expect and were quite surprised to find a heaving car park. This place is awesome. Has a cool outdoor beer garden (that’s dog friendly) with a mix of outdoor (but covered) and indoor seating. There’s also a cool games area at the back for the kids/ adults. The place was super packed and busy. Service was really good although it took quite a while for our food to arrive. We ordered jalopeno poppers and a smoked venison with feta, walnuts and cavalo Nero pizza. The jalopeno poppers were delicious - whole peppers stuffed with cheese and lightly fried. The pizza was also good, had plenty of sauce and toppings. I found the combination of toppings a bit much by the end and the walnuts slightly odd but all in all pretty good. This place is definitely worth visiting and we will definitely be back with friends

Have wanted to experience this place for a couple of years - not easy when I live in the Waikato. Did not disappoint.. The beers are consistent and they are known for the pilsner. I liked the Cold IPA and the Red Ale.. I had 2 tasting paddles- a great way of trying a selection. (And you might even find you like beers you've not thought of trying before!) The menu was nice. Had the fish crudo and the croquettes. Nice atmosphere..

A very cool place. Has a great vibe going around the moment you enter this place. Have lots of options for beers from the brewery. Prices are ok. Have decent amount of vegetarian options across the menu. I had ordered a wood fired mushroom pizza and it was simply awesome. Other guys from my group had ordered burgers and they looked equally tempting (beef, chicken, etc.) In drinks I tried the zero alcohol lager beer and it tasted as good as the normal one. There is a small play area for the kids as well. Would definitely be coming back to this place.

Unfortunately I will not be returning, tonight was my 4th visit as service, ambiance and hospitality had always been amazing. Tonight was just something else. We were seated next to a dogs bowl and what seem to be a uncleaned high chair which I believe was just racking in the flies. For the entire sitting I was there (90min approx) I and partner were just sitting there propelling our arms trying to get the insects off our table/food/drinks. 4 times we had insects land in our drinks (we simply scooped them out zz) I didn’t have it in me to ask to be moved as I had already asked the first time round. So disappointing, it was a stressful meal. Staff on the other hand were lovely, as always. Such a shame

Nice brewery with lots of inside/outside seats. The pizza was really good albeit slightly pricey but it was worth it. The tasting flights is great and you can add wine, local spirits and house cocktails to the flight. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing brewery, cozy set-up, a long list of must try beers. Combined with the most amazing jalapeno poppers, wood fired pizzas and fried chicken.

A great spot to have a couple of cold ones. Looks nothing much from the outside. But inside you find this purpose built nice pub with a chill vibe. As the name suggests they got nice beer and great pizzas. Love the atmosphere and the vibe. Staff is friendly and helpful. It’s kid friendly and they got a play area with a rock climbing wall. Would def visit them again someday soon.

Nice atmosphere and decor, although do recommend to dress warm if you’re coming for dinner. Since it was busy on a Friday night, we were placed outdoors at the very back with limited heaters. The pork belly I would recommend, not chewy but tender. The cauliflower was a little dry and the chunkies were 7/10. The beer was very good though. Still recommend this place, especially on a nice sunny day !

Great place, even the trip here in the countryside was nice. Great service, as soon as your glass is empty someone is there to refill it or take your order. Enjoyed my jalapeño poppers, pretty spicy too! My partner loved his burger. Great presentation and love the music too. So much to look at here, place is huge. It was great to hook up with our friends and all the children were entertained by the playground & drawings. Can't really fault this place, look forward to going again. The beer is so good too 👍

Such a great place to eat and chill on a sunny summers day. Out in the beer garden, eating delicious pizza, drinking very nice craft beer and kombucha. Smiles all round. We’ll be back real soon. Try the wood fired pizzas. Fantastic!!

👍👍 recently visited Black Cottage cafe for lunch in Coastville Village, Auckland, and let me tell you, appearances can be deceiving.
