Had a great day at Battel Abbey walking around taking in all the historical sights & information. Everything is well laid out. The staff at the Information point were very helpful and convinced us to become members as we are interested in going to other Heritage sites. The whole area is kept clean. The restaurant area was clean and there was a range of food available. The staff there were friendly & helpful. Had a great time walking around and spent a few hours enjoying the sights. The staff at the shop were really friendly & helpfull aswell. Allround a day well spent.👍👌😁 PS : Although there is a good large Carpark there, it does not showup on Google Maps 🤔

Lovely place to visit with lots of information if you are interested in history bonus for me was that I could take my dog. Dogs must be on a lead. They also have a nice little play park for younger children.

Had a fantastic visit to Battle Abbey. We walked around the castle and battle field with our dog who was welcome on his lead. Rare find. The grounds are maintained well, the cafe and exhibition were great. We met a few members of staff all who were super helpful and informative. We even got some dog ice cream from the ice cream cart.

We really liked it here. We had a guided tour by Robert, a very enthusiastic volunteer, who was knowledgeable and entertaining. The castle is very charming and we felt the history brought alive by his commentary. Looking across the battle field was quite poignant and much of the castle was accessible. The cafe was very nice. The view from the tower was extensive and the little town of Battle pleasant. Loved the little knitted bollard covers.

Great landmark in the heart of Battle. It has a rich history. This museum is also free to visit and there is plenty of parking nearby. Everything is in great condition and super maintained. However, at the time of our visit, there were many mosquitoes in the area. If you have the opportunity, you can also take a look at the sheep that are walking around.

What an incredible piece of history to walk around and through. Looked like many locals use it as a relaxing park or dog walk. Cafe on site has lots of options as well.

Fantastic day out. The self-guided tour is great, providing you with information about the battlefield and the Abbey all at your own pace. The exhibition and visitor centre provided insight into life at the Abbey and how the battle unfolded in 1066.

One of the most important sites in British history and it doesn't dissapoint. From the information films, animations, archaeology, the buildings ruins and battlefield . EH has done brilliantly, information is to the point and not too much, you can use headsets if this is easier. A trip to the top of the gatehouse tower offers panoramic views over the town and wider countryside. Its just dripping in history and is a must visit. Please note on wet days the battlefield walk may be closed due to dangerous conditions underfoot

Excellent English Heritage site situated on site of abbey founded by William The Conqueror. Battlefield site and ruins and mansion house (now Battle School, only open to public in August.) Gift shop, cafe, toilets, small but interesting interactive museum and tower museum on site, rooftop access with super views. Easy to spend 2-3 hours here. Memorial stone where King Harald fell in battle.

Battle of Hastings reenactment on the 15/10/2023 was absolutely amazing, though we didn't get the best position compared to previous years, we had an absolute blast! Couldn't recommend more. Also highly recommend visiting the Abbey during the rest of the year, event aside it is a fantastic day out.

What a beautiful day out for the family. So quiet and the scenery was beautiful. The walk around battle abbey was one of the most picturesque walks I’ve taken in a long time. Will absolutely be going there again!

Wow. Always wanted to go here. Mum is English Heritage member so was lovely to visit with her. Booked online for me as slightly cheaper. No queue and parked in the car park right next to the entrance. Enjoyed a coffee before the Battlefield walk. Not cheap but was good coffee. Be warned!! Only one toilet right at start so make sure you go! The long walk is worth it and grab your audio guide at the start for the immersive experience! Had a fantastic 4 hours exploring. Well worth the money.

Historic and well maintained. Plenty of parking space outside the property a short walk away from main entrance that is free for EH members. Great kids play area and nice trail to walk through the battlefield. The tower climbs are a little steep but offers great views.

Great day out would recommend getting here early because the car park gets full pretty quick. It's a great day out for all the family but watch your head when walking up the stairs

A very good walk with an audio guide to give the full background and history to the events. Quite a few buildings still standing to walk into and around. Also a small museum on the way up to a rooftop viewing platform. A great day out - well worth the visit.

This was a fascinating place, so full of history, well worth the visit. The shop wasn't astronomical in price either. Not cheap, obviously, but not silly money for a lot of the stuff. They are very welcoming and encourage guests to explore. The whole experience was far better than I ever imagined.

Great day out. They had themed events going on and the actors were fab. The walk around was interesting. Kids are 5 and 9 and they seemed to enjoy it. Definitely recommend a visit. The volunteers and staff were very attentive. We took a picnic but there is a cafe and food was reasonably priced and popular.

Superb place for history, architecture and nature lovers. We visited on a very hot day so decided against the longer walk around but the shorter version was great. There are a few steep stairs in places, but if you can manage them you will find some fantastic views and interesting exhibits. Battle Abbey has a gift shop & café plus clean toilets.

A really good experience. So informative and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable and are really passionate about their work. A good audio system as you walk round the site to find out even more detail of what happened in 1066.

Absolutely loved my visit here. Walking through history and the views from the top of battle abbey are something else. Def worth the money and I would happily go again and again. This visit was made even more special by the fact that my 12 year old had a history test a week later and it was all about William the Conqueror. Best way to learn is to walk through and visit history making memories as you go.
