We have been staying here at this motel now for over 40 years. It has always remained clean, comfortable, quiet and well maintained. Just less than 15 minutes drive and you are in down town Carmel by the sea! No traffic and noise which comes with your stay in Carmel, this is peaceful, private, quiet and accommodating. I’m now friends with the manager and his family! Great place to stay - and I am picky about what I like! There simply is no other choice as far as we are concerned!

This hotel is what it says it is - small, unassuming, basic. Fine for a 1-2 night stay if you aren’t planning on spending much time in the room! They have a nice little water feature in the front where you can sit and read. The owners are available at all times and are very friendly. Room is pretty basic but as other reviewers notate: Extremely clean. Small table with 2 chairs, bed, a rack for clothes and a good sized bathroom. Bed is comfortable, sheets are a bit thin so I would ask for some extra blankets before you head to bed. The AC unit has a running fan option which is great for light sleepers for white noise. :) At the time of writing, no breakfast was offered.

Very clean and property looks great but the rooms are VERY basic and the Walls are paper thin to the point I heard every word my neighbor said on a phone call. Windows don't open which is too bad with such great weather.

Everything is fine except that there are 3 appliances (fridge, microwave and coffee maker) with only two outlets. So have to keep unplugging one to plug in another.

Our room was very spacious, clean and up-to-date. The parking lot felt very secure. There was a shopping mall within walking distance.

First of all, there is NO FREE BREAKFAST. After we paid and checked in we were asked if we had questions and I asked where we got breakfast and the answer was "there is no breakfast." I said that their website advertised free breakfast, and they acknowledged that yes, it did, but there was none. This was after we had paid, of course. And why bother changing something if it will make you more money? But I calculated the budget with that in mind, and suddenly it's dramatically smaller since I'll have to go out to eat. Since they are literally, unapologetically, not giving part of what we paid for, I removed two stars. The whole thing was skeezy, and of course most hotels are sold out now so it's not like we could just go somewhere Else. The entire thing is super unethical. Also, we checked in as two people and they only gave us a single room key, which was super inconvenient. As far as the rooms, they're clean, small. Very, very hard mattresses but the bed in our room made a weird, large metallic sound when we got on it, and occasionally when moving. There's a microwave and a larger than average mini fridge, the former of which is not common. There's no bath but the shower is nice and probably better than a cramped bath would be. Not enough room for toiletries though, as for some reason they decided to block the only toiletry shelf with those unhygienic built in ones, which literally only have poor quality shampoo and shower gel. I'd rather have nothing than this. :( The walls are thin and you can pretty much hear everything outside your room, but it's not in a super busy area at least or close to the highway so it's not too bad. Also, it has good ac, which was already on when we checked in, which was nice. They also allowed us to check in 30 minutes early, but that in no way makes up for the lack of breakfast, and their reaction to it, like they didn't just bait and switch us, and sell us something they didn't deliver. I could have booked somewhere else cheaper, or somewhere else that actually offered breakfast which would have made it cheaper in the long run, and I am deeply displeased. Especially because it was so expensive (prices were up because the air show. Not why I was there but it meant hotels were full and prices were insanely high.) Honestly, for very little difference in price I could have gotten someplace much nicer, or, again, with breakfast. Also, if you are coming as a tourist it's worth noting it's quite a walk from any of the big tourist locations (aquarium, fisherman's warf, etc) Pros: AC!!! Microwave Larger than average mini fridge Shower so close to being nice except the toiletry situation Cons: No breakfast Small size No view Poor service Thin walls Location Could go either way: Hard mattresses. Great if you like it, sucks if you don't. Price: it was very pricey when we booked, but other days it seemed pretty average or even lower, so this seems to be a timing thing. It would be 3 sta but it's a 2 for the literal false advertising and not giving what's paid for, without apology or compensation.

this motel was fairly nice. It was really small. The rooms were small, but they were just newly remodeled. They had wood laminate floors, fresh paint on the walls. The bathroom was new tiled including the shower, the shower had shampoo and body wash in the shower and there was a hand soap dispenser right next to the bathroom sink. The worst part of the rooms were that they had wood blinds that you could open and close which was nice, but they let in a lot of light. There was no curtains to close so the parking lot lights would come in the wood blinds at night and the sun would shine into the blinds or through the wood blinds in the morning.

Great value for money, rooms are very clean and recently updated, and in general the whole motel up to the parking lot and the plants around it is very well kept. The room might be relatively small compared to Best Western etc but as a european absolutely fine, and the quality of the room is actually better than a Best Western I stayed in nearby. Felt very at easy as well. Would definitely recommend!

Very comfortable beds, super clean and organized room. I really loved the bathroom! The shower is perfect in size and clean. Everything you need is inside the closet! Yes it is a small room, but you are going to spend the night not live in here forever! I’m definitely coming back to this place next year!

This tiny motel lives up to its spectacular reviews. It's nothing fancy, but it's clean and quiet, staff are friendly and helpful, and it's close to a grocery store.

Quiet, clean, minimal, easy parking, efficient, inexpensive. They have a/c, fridges, and microwaves. Nothing fancy at all but oftentimes that's exactly what you want.

Rooms were clean, the staff was nice, and the facility is only 1 story, so you don't have to worry about people above you. Restrooms had newer remodels and a lot of room in the showers. They also supply shampoo and body wash. Over all it was a pleasant experience.

Clean large room. Updated bathroom. Comfortable bed. Easy parking. Friendly front desk. Pricy, but compared to the general area seemed fairly priced. Two biggest negatives are it’s not really walking distance to any major attractions and the towels are small and thin. I would stay here again.

Why pay more than double the price at the name brand hotels right down the street, when these rooms are clean, comfortable and the housekeeping is friendly and helpful? No reason. I found everything to be clean and in good repair. Good Job, Padre Oaks!

We absolutely love this little motel! Owners are so friendly and sweet, immaculate inside rooms and the grounds outside. Perfect location, across from Del Monte shopping center, close to freeway, restaurants, cute cute place to stay!! We will be back!

We highly recommend staying at Padre Oaks Inn. On 8/22/22, we had issues with Motel 6 which is a couple of motels down from Padre Oaks Inn. We luckily got the last room at Padre Oaks at almost 9pm. The owner was very nice. The price was reasonable and the room was clean with no funky smell. The bed was clean. We felt safe to stay here.
