The property and location are nice. However, it clearly states on hotels.com they have a fitness center on site. They do not. Then they charge you a mandatory 34.00 for use of a “local fitness club” which is actually the generic fitness room of another hotel they own over half a mile away. The key they gave me didn’t work to get into the center and it’s not a club or what they describe. They also say “fitness classes and yoga” on the listing but they do not have that, neither does the other hotel they send you to. As a Silver Hotels.com member they state a bottle of wine per stay is free. I asked, they said it should be in my room but it wasn’t so I asked again and they said housekeeping would bring me one and they never did. They have no bellman and the person at the front door just hits the handicapped button to open it instead of actually holding the door for you. I stay at a lot of similarly priced hotels (it was 340 for one night) and the service and amenities here are not up to par. Especially with what is around, even next door there is a Hyatt with everything that Zoe describes and more. Seems like they really want extra money and lots of up charges in your room, more so than usual. Everything is for sale. Lastly, the TV was just installed and randomly switches to the Home Screen over and over no matter which channel you’re watching. Close to the tourist area is the main perk, but there are better so keep looking.

Hard to review a place you actually didn’t get to stay at! I made reservations in March for a July stay. I received a text at 10am the morning of our arrival welcoming us. After we arrived to check in, I was informed the hotel was overbooked and they did not have a room for us. Would’ve been nice to know that before we Ubered there from the airport!! They did make arrangements for us to stay at another hotel but did not offer us any transportation to the new hotel. The front desk receptionist had zero empathy!! She gave zero Fs, if you know what I mean. I will never book here again!

Good hotel, the staff was awesome and there was solid security at the door. No issues with my room either. However it lacks a fitness center onsite, free breakfast, free parking and a pool which is the only reason I’m not giving it five stars (these imo are important amenities of a hotel). Also wish the courtyard fires stayed on till 11pm or later, 10 seemed a bit early. Recommended if you don’t mind lacking these.

An absolute gem. Excellent service. Excellent amenities. I’ve stayed here multiple times and love it every time. The hotel is quaint and upscale without being overpriced or impractical. They saved me recently when I decided to ditch the other hotel I was staying at (due to not meeting my hotel needs). I called Zoe and it took them 30 minutes to schedule my reservation, book my room, give me the preferences I asked for, and had me in my quiet room within the hour. Thank you Hotel Zoe for always being reliable and accommodating.

We just returned from SF having stayed at Hotel Zoe for 3 nights. The location is good but both the hotel room quality and hotel reception service need work. The rooms felt pretty sad and need an update. I’m usually happy to accept poor room quality if the guest service is good but both men we encountered at the reception were lacklustre to the point of being rude (is it really that hard to treat your guests politely?). The one lady we encountered at reception was lovely. All in all, I probably would not stay here again and felt ripped off for the price you pay given the low quality of the hotel.

We stayed a total of 6 nights. Our room was a king bed with zero view (which didn't matter to us). It was on the small side, but functional. there isn't much storage space, but we were able to make it work. The room came stocked with an honor bar set up and we had them remove all of that on our first day. Staff came right away and took all of the items. Our room was spotless when we arrived, and it was cleaned each day. We did put up the "Do not disturb" sign a couple of days when we felt we really didn't need a cleaning. 10/10 for our room and the staff who kept it tidy! The hotel is in a fantastic location that was convenient to many things that we wanted to see/do. As other people mentioned, it is walking distance to the cruise port. We were not on a cruise, but we walked to that area for our Alcatraz tour and we could have easily walked with our luggage for a cruise. Fisherman's Wharf was an easy walk as well. There is a bus stop right across the street from the hotel and the cable cars are in walking distance. We never felt unsafe in the area either. There is also a Trader Joes a block away and that's nice to buy some waters/snacks for the room! 10/10 location! We rented the E-bikes one day and they were really neat to use. It is worth mentioning that there are no bike lock, or helmets available to use with them. It would be nice to have a lock available so that you could stop somewhere for lunch/drink and have the bike locked up. We enjoyed the bikes and it was very convenient to rent directly at our hotel and return there as well. You will be required to download an app the rent the bike and the hotel will provide a code for 1hr free (one bike). We used our bikes to bike the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a wonderful ride, but the bikes are heavy and somewhat difficult to manage in the wind going around the pillars on the bridge. The E-bike is super helpful for San Francisco hills. Total lifesaver. There is still enough of a workout though! Great experience with the bikes! We stayed several days prior to and during some kind of convention (as another reviewer mentioned). The convention had the restaurant closed and the lobby. We were never told of this happening and it caught us by surprise when we went to visit the restaurant. I did speak with staff and they did help to make the situation right. I feel like we shouldn't have had to speak to someone though. Courtesy should have been extended to us knowing that we were staying there during this time. I am glad I spoke with the staff during our stay and that they were able to satisfactorily address our issue. I feel bad for anyone who didn't reach out though. The resort fee is clearly stated in the booking and so I have no problems paying for that. I do feel like the daily restaurant credit that is included in this fee should be credited in one lump sum. They dispense the credit daily and if you don't use it, then you lose it. This policy seems unfair and should be revisited. The daily bike rental fee should work like this as well, but it too is a daily thing and if you don't use it, then you lose it. Just some food for thought and not a complaint. We had a great stay and would easily recommend this hotel as a great place to stay during a visit to San Francisco!

Location is great but the hotel is not at the level it should be. First of all, there is no sympathy from the manager. If you are in hospitality business, you need to have flexibility. My wife was pregnant and I had to check out earlier. I asked to shorten the trip one day, they refused it. Secondly, my entire stay housekeeping not even comes one time. I would never stay here again. I dont recommend at all.

We stayed over Christmas. Great location and great staff. The s'mores fixings in the lobby each evening were a great touch. They even had a chest full of blankets so guests could cozy up next to one of the fires in the private courtyard while making their treats. Special shout out to the valet parking crew - we really appreciated their great service.

My family and I booked two rooms for a family staycation downtown. Good location to explore the city. We had coffee every day to start our day in the lobby - fabulous service (thank you, Liza!). All the staff were polite, respectful, hard workers, and very helpful, nothing was a problem for them, especially Liza, Arnold, Rowena, Jose, and Roy. I would highly recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

Stay here is always excellent! Close walking distance to a lot of things. Very clean hotel fabulous staff and the valet guys are great!! We have stayed here 4 times. As far as we are concerned it’s the only place to stay for us when visiting SF. The last two times we have visited they were doing touch up paint around the hotel, they like to keep everything looking top notch. Staff is very helpful and the restaurant next door is a good place to eat. Would recommend to anyone!!

I just wanted to come here and say that the Hotel Zoe staff is truly amazing. I stayed there last week, on a trip to attend a tech conference. With a very busy week and much on my mind, I accidentally left my apple MacBook, my apple charger and my house keys locked in the room safe. I have stayed in many hotels that when I left something in the room, including expensive objects, they denied having them and they were lost. When I called Hotel Zoe, they connected me with the head of housekeeping who was truly so kind, collected my items and made the process super convenient to have them shipped back to me in Arizona. I will absolutely be staying with them again in the future and I am so appreciative for all their help.

Amazing location, great rooms and friendly staff. While it is pricey you are paying for the location and great service. So many walkable tourist attractions and even walking to Chinatown or downtown isn't all that bad. A great place for tourists to establish a base camp for San Fran.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Zoe Fishermen’s Wharf for 4 nights very recently-more precisely we checked out this morning. We had a great stay at Hotel Zoe mainly because of very nice staffs including Angel. I am not very good at remembering names so I cannot state all their names but everybody we encountered were very nice. The location is excellent and close to everything if you are in San Francisco as tourists. Upon check-in, we were assigned in a little smaller room and I kicked the heavy steal garbage/recycling can a few times every time I got in and out of the bathroom and got some bruises so we asked to change our room. The hotel was at 100% occupancy but Angel looked into it and arranged to change our room to a better one in the next day. They arranged moving all our stuff a new room even our foods and drinks from the fridge while we were out exploring the city. Our stay at Hotel Zoe was excellent and we really enjoyed every minute of our stay. They offer free bikes-voucher to rent at nearby bikes shop but we were too busy to take advantage of it. If you like to ride a bike, it would be great to take advantage of the offer. All in all, we were happy that we chose Hotel Zoe as our accommodation during our trip and we will definitely stay again when we visit San Francisco. Thank you Hotel Zoe for helping our trip more enjoyable.

We had a 5 night stay in this Hotel. This is one of the best hotel I have stayed in the USA. The location is excellent it is close to pier 39, downtown, and other attractions in SF. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the staff in the front desk. After a tiring flight, this was very nice. Thanks Rowena, Jose and Roy. Our rooms are extremely clean & comfortable . We met Ana Liza from the coffee bar ,she made our vacation more interesting with her advices & tips about the city and walking distance attractions . Would definetely recommend this hotel to everybody who is planning on visiting SF! It's a true example of excellent hospitality. Thank you again Ana Liza!!! I also have to mention Arnold who we met one evening he was very friendly and hospitable.

I booked this very beautiful hotel because they offer 1-hour free e-bike and bike rentals each day, so let me start with that. The electric bikes are on the hotel premises and need an app and credit card. These work pretty well, though the one I used could benefit from some maintenance due to screeching brakes. After your free hour, its $20 for each extra hour. The hotel can provide helmets, which is great. Unlike the ebikes, the regular bikes are off-site at Unlimited Biking (about 10 minutes walk away). Unfortunately I was informed incorrectly that Unlimited Biking closed at 7pm so was disappointed to find out they closed at 5pm instead and was unable to use the service (I was hoping for a ride around sunset!). This wasn’t the only service failure - I was told that I could use the gym at the Hotel Argonaut sister hotel about 10 minutes walk away, only to be turned away by the Argonaut (because the Argonaut receptionist was new and didn’t know about the program). I mentioned these issues to the front desk and was given a sincere apology. I was also given a room that the Hotel Zoe receptionist identified as quiet, but was given a ground floor room adjacent to the popular fireplace filled courtyard, so it was actually noisy at times when I was trying to rest. Service at the restaurant is also lacking, delivering meals without silverware to use, leaving empty plates despite visiting the table multiple times, and cold welcomes. These service failures are all a shame because the restaurant actually serves delicious food and the hotel rooms, courtyard, and lobby are beautifully appointed. Both the art (including a copy of Ruth Asawa’s art) and lighting throughout the hotel is distinctive and thoughtful. If the service was excellent, this could be a truly exceptional hotel. As it stands, I was disappointed multiple times as explained above.

We stayed here for vacation and loved it! The location is fantastic, very central to everything, and walking distance from Pier 39, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square. They also gave us a discount card for several nearby restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful and gave us recommendations. The rooms are nice, clean, comfortable, and full of amenities. The hotel has a lot of cool amenities too, like complimentary coffee to go, credit at the restaurant, s’mores, bike rentals, and more! I recommend this hotel to anyone!

My wife and I came her for her Birthday and I we were surprised and delighted. Most independent hotels in San Francisco overcharge and under deliver. Hotel Zoe delighted this customer. The service was great, room larger than expected, clean rooms and hallways. Great attitudes from all staff. The breakfast was great. And there was a gift for my wife waiting in the room when we arrived from the Hotel. Not a cheap one either. Color me shocked!! We will definitely stay here again and recommend. Thanks Hotel Zoe. From my both of us! Ralph White

Was honestly nervous booking in San Francisco for my one night stay...Hadn't been there in years and was traveling with another woman. Check in was easy, room was "nice". We were pleasantly surprised by the bottle of red and the note in our room...really made us feel welcome. The driveway is tucked in and there is a very kind bellhop/doorman/valet who flags your Uber for you and kinda keeps you safely tucked away from any issues on the streets. Would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the city.

Best staff in all SF! We have stayed in other hotels around the city and they do not compare. Rooms were decently sized and hotel staff were extremely friendly making us feel at home. They had great recommendations and the hotel's restaurant is really good! Will recommend to friends and family looking to take a trip to SF.

cons: This hotel advertises room service but they do not have it, and the restaurant downstairs does not answer the phone around breakfast time. The rooms are OK but are small, and the fittings like the door knobs and light bulbs are sloppy. pros: this hotel is probably way better than the ones surrounding it, and they do allow pets which is nice. Also it has valet parking and quick access to the wharf.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The location of the hotel was perfect! The rooms were comfy, especially the beds. Special thanks to Ana Liza and Arnold for being very accommodating. People in the front desk are also friendly and helpful— thanks Jose, Rowena, & Roy. Overall, great hotel and would recommend. ✨

We stayed at this hotel May 27th - May 31st. Loved the location and staff! The pillows were not great and even though we were on the highest (4th) floor we could hear a good bit of street noise each evening so bring ear plugs if that will bother you. The room was beautiful and clean and we enjoyed the lobby fireplace and infused water daily. Great stay!

Stayed here as a solo traveller, I cannot praise it enough Location is great, short walk to Fisherman's Wharf, Big Bus company etc. Ray on reception was amazing he was so informative, friendly and always made sure I was OK. The rooms were clean the cleaning staff were excellent friendly and helpful. Thank you for an amazing week. Thankyou happy .

Great location just a few blocks south of Fisherman's Wharf with easy access to many activities. With that said, the hotel itself was very underwhelming and frankly disappointing. Our room was small with a well-worn bed (complete with body indents in the mattress from previous visitors) and a door that let in a lot of sound and light from the hall. The hotel charges a large daily fee ($35 daily) for amenities that you are not likely to use. On top of all that, after checking out, we had an extra charge put onto our card for items from the mini bar that we did not consume. We will not be returning to Hotel Zoe when we return to San Francisco.

Great Location and easy access to public transportation. The location is a few blocks from main tourists attractions so quiet yet still easy to get to those spots. We hopped on Muni transit nearby to get around SF so that was convenient. The rooms were clean, quite small but had everything we needed and we enjoyed the fire pits in the courtyard and the ability to bring our dog with us. Highly recommend staying here if you're visiting SF.

This is such a cute and modern hotel in San Fran close to everything. Extremely clean and staff really look after you. Eric head of services went above and beyond to help accommodate us, and honestly I am so touched and thankful for his help. Highly recommend! Fireplace & the wood fired pizza were also big bonuses. Thank you again Eric!!!!!

I have yet to stay, but feel inclined to post a review of customer service so far. Booked a three night stay for the weekend of January 14 but due to weather we postponed it a month. Dalia was so sweet and extremely helpful! Dalia has been prompt in responses and so personable! Ricardo was so kind when I called and asked questions, obviously interrupting his day! Big shout out to the customer service at hotel Zoe! And thanks again Dalia for all your help! Can’t wait to come visit in February!!
