I made a quick trip to San Francisco to see some friends play live music. Franck was extremely helpful with all the information I could need, and the woman at the front desk was marvelous. Considering my stay was during Covid, I felt safe the entire time with everyone taking the necessary measures and precautions. It was a wonderful surprise to know the parking was part of my stay, breakfast was perfect, and the coffee was outstanding. The location couldn't be better for shopping and dining. Only a block from Union Square. The room was quaint, bathrooms nicely updated and the view was perfect. A wonderful city experience. The windows open ALL THE WAY! A rare find in hotels these days. And the fresh air was welcomed. In haste, I accidentally left behind a souvenir, and the staff was so polite and gracious to help me out by dropping it in the mail that day. I whole heatedly recommend the Cornell Hotel and would definitely stay there again. I am excited to bring my wife next time, she would find it over the top romantic.

I checked out this morning and then found out I left behind my airpod pro under my pillow. First I called this situation at 11:50am and went to the hotel 4:00pm to pick my airpod. But eveyone from the hotel said nothing found in my room again and again!! Because I was absolutely sure that my airpod was under the pillow, I went to my room #607 with roomkeeper but that room has already cleaned and nothing foundγ… γ…  I activate "find my airpod" but "can't find" What a terrible things happened to me....!! I was so sad all day...and just before sleep, I activate "find my airpod" again, and I was sooooo surprised!!! My airpod is now "2665 Geneva Ave, daly city CA 94014"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, my God!!! I'm still here in San Francisco!! How this situation happen??? How hotel employee do this to the customer!!!?? Do not visit Hotel Of Thief!!!!!!!!! Never!!!

Awful hotel. Elevator was broken and we had to climb 4 flights of stairs to a room with scratchy sheets, that looks nothing like the pretty website pictures. It’s old and beat up, the bed was so scratchy we thought there might be bedbugs and we left without completing our stay. Asked for 50% refund and did not get it. Awful street outside, scary and full of addicts.

The hotel is very well located, the staff very nice and attentive, everything is taken care of. Hotel also has charm, parking is possible across the street in the parking garage. There is one star deduction because the room was not 100% clean (hair in the bathroom on the floor and in the freshly made bed), elevator was broken (but the suitcases were brought up). All in all, we would book here again on our next visit to San Francisco.

****IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO CLIMB STAIRS OR YOU USE AN ASSISTIVE DEVICE THIS IS NOT THE HOTEL FOR YOU**** When we arrived, the receptionist took our information to look up the booking, told us the amount, charged us, gave us the room key, for a room on the 5th floor and after all that, THEN told us that the elevator was not working and they planned to have it fixed on Monday. We checked in on Saturday. Had we known the elevator was non functional, (before we were charged!), we would have booked elsewhere. My aunts are older and had a very difficult time going up and down five flights of stairs for what turned out to be our entire trip. Anytime we would inquire about the elevator being fixed it was just another delay to the next day. Then, after speaking with an employee, we were told the elevator had been out for a week! We paid good money for this room. First, information to contact an owner was offered but the guy must have changed his mind because he asked for my information instead. I have yet to hear from someone, it's been almost 2 weeks. The room was small but cute, only highlight of this place. After housekeeping was in our room the second time, they left dirty towels they must have used to clean, on our toilet. There was only one garbage can in the WHOLE room. Three stars for service for the two employees who were very helpful while we were there. Offering suggestions for things to do, offered us water and took our luggage upstairs.

We stayed 3 nights in this beautiful hotel! I completely loved the friendliness of the staff. Since the beginning they were very welcoming and they made us feel super safe during our stay because they always took many precautions due to the current covid situation. This is a family owned hotel, with a beautiful victorian architecture! Everything was so classic and super clean, the elevator was very interesting! They made our stay in San Francisco unforgettable, I loved the great breakfast that they offered in the hotel, because we booked directly on their website, it was amazingly good. The neighborhood was nice and I felt good walking around the hotel even late at night. I really recommend you to come to this hotel! The price that I got was very cheap in comparison with others hotels in the same area.

This little hotel is just perfect. Delightful hand painted art details all throughout the rooms, the elevator, the hallways, the doors. Delicious homemade croissants for breakfast, sparkling clean rooms, friendly service in a beautiful French accent. We’ll come back over and over again. I can’t believe how affordable it was for how sweet and thoughtful every aspect of our stay.

Amazing place to stay in San Fran! Great Location, beautiful room and wonderful service! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who come to San Fran! Comparing to the regular chain hotels: Hilton, Marriott etc, this hotel will definitely make your trip more memorable!

A little hotel, perfectly located close to Union Square offering rooms at a reasonable price. The room was not too big, but it was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Welcoming staff, offering their help with local recommendations.

Hidden gem positioned perfectly downtown. Classic style San Francisco building 2 blocks from Union Square and 2 blocks from the Dragon Gate to China Town, and steps from Powell for easy cable car access. The staff, led by Franck the manager, all seem to genuinely be happy you are there and want to help you enjoy your stay (crazy concept, I know). It's truly remarkable how clean this hotel is kept. The art in the halls, furniture, staff, building, hand painted accents on the walls of the rooms, and location all work together for a great experience. ... and I almost forgot, great shower head and wonderful outlet and USB power stations on the nightstands and desk. Nicely done!

Wonderful boutique hotel with old world charm. Meticulously decorated. The bathroom walls looked handpainted! (My son is an architect and that's his professional opinion. Lol!) Loved the elevator! And the staff are very helpful. And let's not forget the view from the rooftop! And from our bathroom window, too. A caveat, there's a coffee machine but no microwave (in my room). I didn't miss it as I wasn't planning to eat in. Staff only stay from 9 am to 9 pm so plan accordingly. Talk to the staff about checking out early. It's easy. Location is very central! Steps away from the Powell cable car and Chinatown. 10 min walk from certain parts of Market and Mission Streets. 20 min walk from Embarcadero or the Yerba Buena gardens if you're up for it. $10-12 Uber ride from the UN Plaza / City Hall & the Salesforce transit station. And there are scooters and ebikes everywhere! Just note that the streets are either on an incline or decline. Not easy walking around for those with health issues.

Super cute hotel on Nob Hill. Hand Painted art & walls. Quiet neighborhood and lovely hotel & rooms. We had a cozy Queen room, well equipped bathroom. Our heater was broken so it was a little chilly.

The Hotel de France is one of San Francisco's hidden gems. Small and quiet, the boutique hotel is beautifully decorated and furnished. The staff is professional, warm, and accommodating. Our two-room suite was spotless and very comfortable. A Continental breakfast was included with our lodging. The Powell Street Cable Car line is 10 steps from the front door. Don't miss this special, old-world lodging. It's lovely.

Wonderful ambiance, clean, pristine but most of all impeccable service. Franck, the manager took good care of us. Our stay could not have been better. Location is near everything downtown. We would love to come back and stay again!

Hidden Gem! Good price! Quaint, small room that was perfect for what we needed. The staff was more than wonderful! Everything was very clean. The French theme stayed true throughout the building. Breakfast was very simple but at least it was complimentary. Would stay here again.

Don't stay here if you're looking for a clean place to stay. I found about 5-6 hairs and small debrie, including a small piece of paper, on the bed's fitted sheet prior to sleeping on it. The bed was made and all, but the sheets were clearly not washed. There were also two towels hanging on the towel bar that looked like they had been used and a used soap bar in the shower. Management needs to do some serious supervision of whoever is doing their cleaning. Prior to getting this room, I had been assigned one that had a bed that also had been clearly slept in. The elevator doesn't work. A gush of dirty water came out when I opened the bathroom sink faucet. The only reason I give this 1 star is the staff. The people who helped me were awesome. They got me a new room and were very helpful.

3 night stay. Cute boutique Hotel. Management and staff are very friendly. Daily service to room cleaning isn't available, Due to Covid. Clean towels and amenities are delivered to the room daily. Convenient location, short walk to Union Square & China Town. Around the corner from our favorite Sears Diner. Highly recommend this little boutique

Very cute boutique hotel, rooms are spacious, well appointed, and very clear. Bathrooms seemed recently renovated, and there was lots of storage - wonderful value for the price. Cute little details throughout the whole hotel, and the front desk staff was so kind and helpful, they said hello/goodbye every time I left and came back, and were very helpful and caring! Location right off the cable car line (which is great for sightseeing but a word to visitors - do NOT use it as a transportation option πŸ˜…), and two blocks from Chinatown gates. Lots of great food options nearby. Radiator heating and no AC, which was fine in the SF climate where it cools down considerably every night, just kept windows open. A little street noise but nothing consistent and easy to sleep through. There is an elevator but stairs are more convenient if they are possible for you.

The staff is 5-Star. The building is quaint and there’s a nice French feel about the place. Elevator broke during our stay but staff very accommodating to help with luggage. No restaurant but a nice box breakfast was provided. This place has tons of potential. Parking a pain at $36 per day across the street.

This lovely little jewel of a hotel never disappoints. Rooms are clean and inviting. The staff is knowledgeable and goes out of their way to make sure we are well cared for. The location was perfect for our Masonic theater adventure. Close to union Square but not noisy. Also there is a parking garage across the street.
