We are tourists travelling through the USA. We have stayed at a lot of motels. Redwood Inn we found to be very clean with excellent friendly staff. Thank you. It also in a great location, just a couple of blocks from the zig zag Lombard st, a few blocks from a park that you can see both Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz from, and about 15 minute walk from Polk St where there are some really great restaurants bars and cafes. The price of course is also one of the best in town. Full five stars from us. TheNewbys. Thanks.

Rooms very very dirty. Blood stain on the shower curtain, smashed window and smashed lamp shade... worst place I have ever been in. Very strange crowd around the property and cleaner had very loud argument with one of the guest outside the room. I would avoid if I was you...

I just wanted a basic, cheap place to stay. I didn't expect luxury or even politeness, but had to leave halfway through my vacation. This place is truly awful. Cockroaches, huge holes in the sheets, literally hundreds of burn marks in the carpet, food messes left in the fridge and the microwave, shower curtain bar was being held in place by stuffing plastic forks into a hole in the wall. Seriously, DON'T STAY HERE!

Omg I wish I could post pictures.THIS HOTEL is a health hazard. Blood on beds no light bulbs or lamp shades . Dirty underwear left on floor from the people who had stayed the day before . We asked for our refund because we felt unsafe with all the illegal activities outside our door .They would NOT refund . We ended up having to book another hotel . This hotel was the worst place I have ever even walked into . I would not stay there for FREE . Nothing is clean ...NOTHING!!! DONOT STAY !! RUN !!

It's a motel. Like any other motel. No mold smell. No bugs. No extras. Safe neighborhood.

This location is pretty central to a lot of happenings in San Francisco, including to the Piers. Parking is first come first serve, so there weren't enough parking spots for all the guests available when we came, but we manages to find a spot on the street, which was free. The rooms were really nicely renovated - definitely a big positive. Their elevator is a bit sketchy and took some time to actually move up and down but did its job. If you stay there and have trouble with the motion lights in the bathroom - it is super sensitive and is triggered with pretty much any movement while sleeping. We managed to prop a rolled together towel on top of a wash bag, with the towel covering the motion sensor. I informed the front desk and they said they will be working on that. The front desk staff was other than that nice and helpful. The ice machine didn't work during our visit, but we had a fridge and microwave in our room. Another huge plus is that there is a bus stop just one block away. A daily bus ticket costs $5 per person, so well worth it leaving the car in the lot and moving around via public transportation.

During these trying times, when way more people are living in motels and scrambling to survive, the people that run this motel are a rare breath of fresh air. The rooms are clean and every effort is put into accommodating the guestโ€™s needs. They have a washer and dryer available too, 3 bucks to wash and 3 bucks to dry.

Management here is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. What I mean by that is that when my wife, a friend and I checked in the first night, there was a middle-aged woman working who was very nice and reasonable about the room she had to rent to us, as it was the last one and minus a TV, refrigerator and microwave, and gave us a deserved discount off of the rate. Then the next day, an older man knocked on our door around checkout time telling us that it was just "too bad" we didn't have the aforementioned amenities and the rate was going to be raised to the normal rate of the $120 a night. I was absolutely dumbfounded. So, if you do still decide to stay here, just don't accept room 22.

If I could I would choose zero stars! I reserved 3 rooms here for a work travel trip. Rooms are disgusting. All 3 rooms were horrible! Blood stains shower curtains, blood stains on sheets, mattress were filthy bed bug infested, wires sticking out of walls, rooms smelled nasty like they have not been cleaned in years! Holes in doors, outlets had no covers and so much more! We made a uturn asked for our money back and stayed elsewhere! This is a dump shouldnโ€™t even be in business.. Health department needs to pay them a visit.

A really decent place to stay. The interior has just been renewed, so the room is very clean and comfortable. The staffs are also very nice.

Newly remodeled, everything is completely new inside the rooms. Free parking is wonderful. Ghirardelli Square is a 10 minute walk. Easy to Uber from there and to there. Customer service is excellent!

Newly redecorated rooms were very modern, beds comfy with down comforter, plenty of towels, hair dryer, micro and mini fridg in a nice stand closed doors, still a work in progress. Would come back and recommend.

While the hotel is well located in the essentially the heart of San Francisco, and the rooms appear to be newly renovated which makes for a nice vibe and feel in the rooms. Our particular experience was anything but pleasant and was chosen to be shared to make all future guests at least aware of what could happen. We booked through Booking. Com, we arrived and were told there was no parking available on the private lot and would have to find parking on the street where we would then be required to vacate prior to 6am for street cleaning. Thankfully after taking a peak throughout the lot one final stall was available at the far back suitable for maximum a mid sized SUV at most. Definitely something to consider if you find yourself with a larger vehicle as the lot is somewhat tight with the stalls closer to entrance being best suited for the larger vehicles. We were given our passes to our room and made our way up the stairs and upon scanning into the room we were greeted by who we discovered a little later was the on duty manager just getting out of the shower. Leaving my now deeply frustrated wife and grumpy child I make my way to the front desk to claim the proper room key for our room one level up as the room we were first given was under maintenance and the wrong one. We enter into our proper room, and I begin setting up the couch bed and laying the sheets when I hear my wife screech in disgust as she steps on to a ball of hair left on the floor on her way to the bathroom, to make matters worse we turn on the lights on the whole space to expose a few other balls of hair and many other strands of hair throughout the floor and hand prints on the shower door and more hair in the shower. Along with dirt and grime throughout the floor near the space entrance. To add insult to injury, we pull the bed covers back and find yet another hair right in the middle of the bed during our brief investigation to see the depth of dirt throughout the room. Immediately the front desk is once again contacted, they then say they will come see us in our room in a couple minutes. 10 or so minutes pass and no one comes, turns out the other employee on duty had made her way to the lower room where we were initially greeted by the freshly showered manager to quickly clean the room to give us another opportunity to stay the night and up to this point no sign of the manager. I end up making my way to the lower level when I finally see him. We have an exchange with the manager emphasising how disgusted we are and my wife opts to inspect the lower room in an effort to feel some comfort prior to agreeing to stay, as she goes in after the brief cleaning to inspect. She decides to once again pull the duvet back to find yet another few curly hairs across the surface of the bed. As you might imagine, this was the end, another exchange followed with the manager eventually providing a direct refund after stating we would have to deal with Booking. Com instead. All this to say, inspect your rooms prior to getting settled, it appears as the manager stated to us that the housekeeping team isn't on top of things the way they should be. There was also some justification from the manager we talked with trying to state it was normal for them to shower in the rooms and we shouldn't expect anything else as the room was under maintenance even though they were going to give it to us anyway after a brief cleaning. If you have any other options at all, maybe keep this place at the bottom of your list, we ended up going with an airbnb and we're far more pleased even with it not being in the location we wanted.

I was there on my trip to USA. Location is great! Mostly San Francisco has A LOT of homeless people, and most of the places are not safe, the location of this hotel is great and safe. The staff was great and the hotel is very clean. The hotel is new, so everything is brand new. Only issue keep in mind there is few park spaces, so if there is no parking space you will need to pay to park outside. 5/5 for me.

Not enough parking spaces if you arrive late. Fast wifi, comfortable beds, new rooms, bright lighting in the rooms. Good location.

This place was perfect for our stay. We wanted a quick place to get in and out of the city for an appointment, we live north of SF. It was close to the medical facility and at a great price point. Tbh I was not sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. It looked just like the pictures. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room looked recently renovated. Everything was CLEAN and the beds were comfortable.I kept the business card so I can stay here again if needed.

I came here one night when it was raining, and kind of late. I decided to stop here because I liked the location. When I went to ask if they had any vacancy the clerk was extremely rude and said are you sure you can afford this? Buddy your not running a four seasons or something. Thank you for the kind service. 0 stars if I could. Not recommended.

Horrible experience! Stood from Friday to Sunday and everyday we were there no hot water was running ๐Ÿ˜ฃ they had no phones in the rooms so we had to constantly walk from the high floor levels(4th floor) to the office cause there's no elevator working. On top of that the power kept turning off they had to turn it back on. The rooms are very spacious and close to the pier though not worth the price especially if your not even getting hot water or power/electricity.

We stayed at the Redwood Inn for 5 days. Our room was clean, the elevator worked great and the staff were super friendly! No homeless in the area.I really enjoyed my stay and it's soo close to Fisherman's wharf. Would definitely recommend for your next stay in San Francisco.

Grate place to stay, it is very clean and it has elevators. Breakfast isn't big but you can have a donut or something related to that. It is near the coast and the commercial zone, great location. Although it is near the public areas you will need to walk two or three blocks. Prepare for the street hills that are enormous.

Checked into room 32 and the wall had blood splatter all over it. Cigarette bud in the bed with holes. Light in the shower didnโ€™t work and the soap was used. The smell of smoke was extremely pungent. The crowd was sketchy to say the least. Took one look and called a friend to stay with them. Will try to get refunded. Update: never got refunded. The person at the front didnโ€™t speak English except โ€œwifiโ€.. which she repeated over and over.

Listen to the first 3 reviews under mine. This place is a total dump. Let's start with the blood splatter on walls/carpet, beds that feel like box springs, broken electrical outlets busted window screens like someone has tried to get in, no AC and unusable bedspreads from cigarette burns.I don't care if you there for the city stay at a chain hotel

This was not my first choice, but at 3am 100 cash , it was doable. Very basic hotel however the staff were attentive and efficient. Remember every room key and towel count.
