The room is beautiful comfortable and clean. The staff is not concerned with guest experience. I felt the service was very disappointing and regretted making the booking. Glad I only stayed one night because they blew the opportunity for additional nights. They baited me with a $153 room charge. The final cost was $196. Spend your money with other boutique hotels in the area who appreciate the business they are getting in COVID times. I recommend Posada Angel, Pensativo or Santo Domingo. Ive stayed at all three and the service is exceptional.

I have a similar problem to other reviews here. I canceled my reservation by phone in April when the government closed the borders and told tourists NOT to come due to covid. I was told that the hotel closing for an indefinite time due to the uncertainty of covid. 7 month later they charge me over $700 and after numerous attempts by email And phone to get a manager I finally reached out via social media. Three times being told that someone from reservations would contest me. FINALLY someone did, to send me a receipt and say they were charging me as a no show for a canceled reservation when all events were canceled and borders were even closed for months. I had been looking forward to finally visit this hotel that had been on my bucket list for years. I was hoping to come next year when things are hopefully back to normal, but now I doubt that will Happen.

The service was amazing. The suite is overrated and not worth the price. Everything at this hotel is in USD. When you use the shower, water gets all over the floor, making it very dangerous when you step out because the little mat is overflowed with water. The room looks way bigger in the online pictures. The shower in the pictures is not the same in person. I could hear people stomping around in the room or hall above me most of the night and early in the morning. The outdoor jacuzzi was dirty, and I had to try to clean it before using it. I have been to multiple hotels in Antigua, and this is the first to not have their own private parking. The location is great, just a few blocks from Central Park. Personally I would not stay again due to the parking situation. I paid $482 for 1 night with over $100 of the rate being all types of taxes and a resort fee. I'm not sure why a resort fee is charged because it's not a resort. Again the service was great but the grand suite is not worth the price at all.

Great location in Antigua. Beautiful old rooms with en suite jacuzzi in a beautiful courtyard. Enjoyed the fireplace and rooftop area as well. Food was okay- we had breakfast there (was included) and tried desserts one night, however I’d recommend finding other meals elsewhere.

Excellent hotel. Beautiful colonial style. (a casa santo domingo in boutique size) . Great food in the restaurant. Only complaint is they attempted to charge me more on food than I had really consumed, so always check the details of your restaurant expenses during checkout. They also charged for ice to the room, which I thought was preposterous, especially because this is a premium hotel.

Wow, what a wonderful stay we had here! The atmosphere was to die for and the included breakfast menu was absolutely delicious. We stayed on Christmas and the vibe was so cute!! We ran out of Quetzals after we did the volcano hike and they sent us a driver who took card. Definitely would love to come back and stay again next time we’re in Antigua

Awful check in. Some clients skipped us in line and staff did not notice or seem to care at all. You get a complimentary welcome cocktail. Check out was slow. They lack staff. On the other hand, the venue is really nice. Rooms are spacious, cozy, a/c is available, so are toiletries, slippers, and robes. I recommend to include breakfast as it is very tasty, you can choose a main dish from the menu along with a hot and a cold drink (juices). A pool is available, so is a library to quietly read. Service can be slow overall. Unfortunately it is not an adults only hotel and kids were loud. Conveniently located near shops, restaurants, and the famous arch. Price is pretty good for what you get.

Had a really bad experience here. Was given a room that was attached to another room with only a thin door and spiral staircase between us. The person in the room actually came up the stairs and very aggressively tried to open the door. I contacted the front desk and they acted like I was being silly. As a solo female traveler, this was not okay. Worse yet, I could hear EVERYTHING they did in the other room. For such an expensive hotel, I was shocked. After asking them multiple times to fix this, at 11pm they finally moved me to another room, which very much smelled like mold. I had to travel the next day, so I had no time or energy to find another hotel. As an apology they knocked off a whole $20 from my $200+ bill. Still waiting for that credit. Do not stay here. There are so many other nicer, better hotels in Antigua that actually serve their customers.

This hotel is absolutely magical. We booked this hotel for the weekend to start off our honeymoon before heading to Panajachel and I really wish we stayed longer. I felt so sad leaving the hotel lol. I fell in love with our room. It was very spacious, had a private outdoor jacuzzi, a very large bathroom with a huge bathtub, and rain head shower that just made us feel bougiee. The staff was very helpful with helping us find transportation to the hotel and as we were leaving as well. The restaurant dishes were delicious & the coffee was too! I loved how we were walking distance to everything in Antigua. We will for sure be coming back to this hotel. It is a must if you are staying in Antigua. Thank you El Convento for creating such a welcoming environment!

We loved our stay at El Convento. Our room was spacious, clean, and well stocked. The staff were very friendly and helped arrange transportation from/to the airport which we very much appreciated. The location of the hotel is perfect as it’s very close to restaurants and things to do but it’s still quiet and peaceful. When staying in Antigua I very much recommend El Convento.

Wow had a horrific experience with this hotel. We made our reservation 3 months prior. We took off to Guatemala to Lake Atitlan prior to coming to this hotel and had an amazing time. When we got to Antigua to stay at El Convento they said they had canceled my reservation due to non payment. And that they have been trying to get a hold of me. Supposedly they sent an email 2 days prior to my visit and because the card was cancelled. 2 days before my visit I was already in Lake Aitilan having an amazing time. So I asked the lady in the front desk to speak to a manager- the manager was not available. Then I asked her for the proof that the card was declined, she says that was not available either. I asked her why they would wait to 48 hours prior to my arrival to “pass” the card if I placed the reservation 3 months ago? Crickets. All she kept saying was there were no rooms. So unprofessional. I took the time to call American Express to find out if it was true that they declined a charge and it was not. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for top notch service in Antigua.

Terrible experience. Won't recommend. We made a reservation through Booking.com weeks ahead and upon our arrival the hotel cancelled the reservation with no reason.

I was very excited about my stay at this hotel but was let down as soon as I arrived. Staff: - When I arrived there was no one to help me with my bags at the front entrance until I got through the door. - The check in staff Cesar didn’t even make any small talk to acknowledge my arrival. He and many of the other staff seem miserable and not accommodating. - Levels of English are poor, which is surprising for a hotel full of Americans and some Europeans. Room: - I was in a Jnr Suite which was dark. The bathroom had no window and it felt cold rather than cosy. - Beds are comfortable but make some squeaking noises. - The cupboard was difficult to get to in the twin queen bed room. Restaurant: - Slow, took about 15 mins to order a drink when sat in the ‘bar’ area. It wasn’t busy (1 other table) - Ordering room service took a long time to even get the order acknowledged Facilities: - Pool is more like a cold pond - Hardly any loungers/seating - No gym Overall disappointing and would have LOVED to stay in Villa Bokeh instead.

I wanted to love it so much. It’s a boutique and romantic space. Beautiful grounds. However there was a women’s event hosted all week and we couldn’t enjoy the terrace and the ladies were quite drunk and loud late at night. It disrupted the feeling of a boutique, relaxing escape vibe.

The location is on a very quiet street but close to the city square. I was welcomed and allowed to check-in early without penalties. I was given water and a small treat. The small details of water and sweets placed around the hotel is a great touch. I had a lovely dinner on the terrace and a note was sitting on the table wishing me a very happy birthday. Plus, they provided me with a delectable cheesecake after my meal. For a quiet, peaceful, and restful hotel experience, I highly recommend El Convento!

Absolutely fantastic in all ways. Our room (deluxe king) was beautiful, having two sky lights, a fireplace, and soaker bathtub. Funny enough, the shower was the absolutely highlight. The property is spectacularly curated and in a great location while still remaining peaceful and quiet. We took advantage of as many amenities as possible in our short stay including the pool, rooftop, room service, and breakfast. My only complaint was that we only stayed for one night. (I do recommend asking the staff about the fireplace. We tried to light ours during our stay and smoke began pouring into our room. I looked around for a way to see if the flue was open but couldn't find one. I ended up panicking and putting the fire out as I didn't want to set the fire alarm off for the entire place lol. But I chalk this up to user-error.)

Stayed here on our second night in Antigua after we were not happy with our original accommodations. El Convento exceeded our expectations. Great room, nice staff, and delicious breakfast. Pool is kind of small with only two lounge chairs but this wasn’t an issue for us.

While traveling with a friend from Lake Atitlan we were looking for a nice place to stay for our last night in Guatemala. This hotel was above and beyond beautiful. The accommodations 100%! Wonderful and friendly staff. Maria went above and beyond making us feel welcomed after a long day of traveling and Beyron was so helpful getting us situated in our room. The hotel is small, and gorgeous. The rooms are spacious and have everything we needed. The restaurant was also very good. We only at breakfast there. We will be back! Thank you! Danielle

Simply beautiful hotel!!! All of the staff were very helpful and kind. Restaurant for breakfast was good every morning nothing spectacular but it was good. Location is great, walking distance from the city of Antigua. Only complaint I have is we stayed in room 15 which shares a wall with the kitchen which was very loud every morning around 7am when breakfast starts so it was hard to sleep in every morning if you’re a light sleeper. Nonetheless, beautiful hotel would absolutely stay again.

This hotel was nothing short of magical. The food was delicious, the staff was hospitable and the location was perfect, you can walk and explore so many places near by. I loved that they had a local artesano selling her merchandise one day too, and while they didn’t have a spa they did call in massage service to our room. There was a beautiful rooftop patio perfect for enjoying breakfast and get a glimpse of volcanoes. The rooms and bathroom are spacious, beds comfortable, AC cool. Everything was lovely!

We arrived early and they were very accommodating to hold our luggage (by the time we were parked, they were bringing us the room key. The hotel is lovely. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace and dinner at the restaurant. It was like an oasis in the city. Walking distance from the square, market, and Cerro de la Cruz. Every staff we interacted with was pleasant. Would love to stay again!

Amazing rooms, bath is largest I ever seen. Jacuzzi outdoors are a nice touch. Staff is really helpful. Garden inside is Devine. One little downside - breakfast food is not top notch. There is more than enough food but it's not tastiest. Most of my family did not like one or few dishes. Pancakes and oatmeal are terrible. So hopefully someone from managment reads it and maybe change some recipes 🤞other than food this place is amazing 💗

A beautiful and true boutique hotel within walking distance to all sights in Antigua! The terraces in the rooms all have great views and the bathrooms are large and have great rain showers. They re fill the filtered water bottles in your room whenever you need it and staff are very friendly and helpful. You feel like you’re in your own oasis. Only reason for a docked star is when we checked out in a rush we saw they incorrectly added a charge for an airport shuttle (which we never took, we paid for our own separate private transportation). It took going back and having a long conversation with the reception desk to get it fixed. Likely just an error on their part but make sure you read itemized receipt for your stay before you pay!!

This place is something special and one of the coolest hotels we’ve ever stayed in, especially at that price! Staff was very kind the whole stay and the location is great!

The hotel was gorgeous as we expected, extremely clean, well maintained, and the rooms were awesome. We stayed in a room with two queens the first night, where the shower was awesome, then in a king room with an outdoor hot tub the second night. It's a tough call to put one over the other. The hotel corridors, fountains, pool, and the rooftop are beautiful.

Location was perfect, hotel was beautiful, breakfast was tasty and several options. The terrace allowed us to see the volcano. Will be staying here on our return trip.

Never have I ever stayed in such a classy, comfortable and convenient hotel. Thr service workers were fantastic, each room was uniquely appointed, and one of the rooms we stayed in even had a private hot tub on the patio. Restaurant was top notch and even served free breakfast. Will definitely be back!

Wow!! The architecture, the foliage, our little garden patio, the high ceilings and big bath in the room, just wow! We loved our stay. The restaurant was very delicious, but preferres prices at the many awesome places nearby. Antigua is glorious and I'm so happy with our stay at El Convento. Walkable, safe, so nice!

Fantastic restoration with a great mix of stone, wood, water & vegetation.. Rooms, terrace, pathways and dining room all impeccable, private and cozy. Very good food also. Upstairs terrace around their centenary tree is a great spot for food or drink or just to relax.

El Convento has officially became my favorite hotel in the world and I travel extensively. It truly feels like home here. They got an amazing staff crew that is extremely attentive and makes you feel valued. Special shoutout to Eddy at the Reception. It has been such a joy to interact with Eddy from check-in to check-out. I’ve stayed there for four nights and he has gone above and beyond to make sure all my questions are answered every day, always making sure I am taken care of. Best receptionist I have ever encountered! Also, German from the restaurant is lovely. German has a great attitude and provides excellent service. The rooms are beautifully designed. I cannot wait to come back to Antigua to stay here! MUCHAS GRACIAS, El Convento!

What a magical place to stay in Antigua. This is a gem. Highly recommend you stay here. Amazing location, the staff is excellent and the food is Michelin quality. This boutique hotel takes you to another time as you enjoy the amenities. The quality and attention to detail of this hotel is breathtaking you feel like going back on time. The 100 year old tree, the landscaping alone is an excuse to visit El Convento.

Rooms are very nice. Food was great and the staff was very accommodating. Hotel is very quiet and serene. Not much to do but to relax and enjoy the grounds. The only small inconvenience is there is no bar like a regular hotel but all in all, I would recommend.

It doesn't get any better than this at Antigua, a classic boutiq hotel with 1800's feeling but the confort of modern days.
