What a great little hidden gem of a bar. It had a nice balance of locals and travelers, and the barkeep treated us kindly and offered us different drinks to try. They have the standard affairs in terms if local beers, as well as some craft options. The only drawback to the bar remains that people smoked inside, which can be a nuisance for people who don't like that sort of thing. Prices won't unnerve the frugal drinker here.

Had a great night at la Taverna. Aury is the best bar tender in town. Super friendly and fun. Will come back and hope to meet her at Gallo Pinto Café in Granada/Nic one day (para que siga la fiesta ;)

We spent a month in Antigua and there were a few people and a few places that will forever leave an impression after our visit. I am leaving several reviews that highlight the people and the places we will never forget. We just loved chilling at La Taverna. It is small but that is what makes it a great place to meet locals and expats. Cold beer, liquor and great cocktails (really enjoyed the Mezcal Margarita). Aury (the owner and bartender) is one of the wonderful Antiguans we will never forget. We actually met her with her dog at another restaurant. She was so nice to us that we had to go visit her at La Taverna and we were so glad we did. Her English is better than mine and she helped us with our Spanish. She makes great conversation, tasty drinks and is just a wonderful person. Ella es la mejor! There are a few really good restaurants inside the beautiful courtyard to enjoy. The will bring you their food into La Taverna. Highly recommend a stop here.

Best bar to play darts in antigua, right next to Brooklyn pizza company so you can grab a slice of pizza easily while you play and drink. Aury and Alejandra are the best bartenders!!

Great bar! The staff is so friendly, the deinks are delicious at great prices. It' located in a plaza, so you can order food from the restaurants next to it (the ham and cheese platter from next door is delicious). You can play darts, enjoy good music and have a calm evening with friends!

I love Aury and her place La Taverna. She’s an excellent hostess and hires the best bartenders. The prices are super reasonable, especially if you make it for happy hour. There is a dart board and they are always playing great music. If you’re nice they might even play a request. It’s a bar, not a restaurant, so she’s happy to allow outside food. There are at least five other restaurants inside centro comercial La fuente, so it’s a good place to go with a group.
