My wife and I arrived early May in heavy rain following a brief stay in the hills near Valladoid having travelled with friends from Madrid & Toledo. We were warmly welcomed despite my treacherous Spanish and I immediately appreciated the quiet ambience of the building that was respected by most visitors. In the early evening I relaxed on one of the comfortable sofas to be found around the glazed quadrangle and listened to unaccompanied singing by visiting clergy coming from the sanctuary or hall. There was something reassuring and blissful in the gentle acoustics of the no-frills stone building; something lost or perhaps attributable to an imagined era. Alas there is no peace until Eternity - but you may experience a momentary foretaste here. The beds were comfortable and the 5 euro breakfast kept us going to 4pm when we enjoyed a late lunch at a time when unoccupied tables in tapas bars are easier to find. We arrived tired and left refreshed - fully recovered to continue our reverse exploration of the Campino (alas by vehicle). Like the mica and feldspar secreted in the granite of the cathedral that only sparkles when light is shone upon it, HospederiaVia Lucis is one of the hidden stars of Santiago de Compostella.

Reverend Mother in charge is a formidable commander in chief of this most impressive place to stay. Negatives are noisy rooms and the nearby streets at night are not well lit and feel rather unsafe. Great hospitality and superb breakfast.

I don’t recommend this place. The location is 20 min walk away from the city center with many hills. (Not 10 min per Santiago Ways) After walking so much to Santiago the last thing one wants is this place. The rooms are so small and claustrophobic.no place to set and own your bag. More like a prison cell smaller than a university dorm. No fan, no air conditioning and no one seems to care. The check in service was terrible, not friendly and all seem very nervous. Santiago Ways selected this place, but I would not trust them again.

Very peaceful place with nice rooms with enough space and ensuite bathroom with a shower cabin. Breakfast is simple but nice. It has a coin operated washer and dryer available. People were really friendly and welcoming. Nice location within walking distance to the cathedral and University areas.

We loved how peaceful the entire compound was. Location - a few minutes walk from the center, room - simple, but clean, had all the basics (comfy bed, desk, clean bathroom). It was kind of cold because of the stone walls and the heating was not on, but we had extra blankets and wore an extra layer, so not too bad. It's a different kind of location, not for fancy people, but for those who enjoy simplicity and peace. We loved it!

Convenient location, clean rooms and nice breakfast. No contact check out in the early morning, but I was not informed of it and had to ask other guests, there was no staff present.

Very enjoyable pleasant stay. Staff were excellent with us, very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast each day, simple rooms which are clean, tidy and uncluttered. Lovely peaceful garden to relax in too.

(Translated by Google) It is a religious hostel. very austere. It has no television or hair dryer. Very simple rooms. As a building it is beautiful. It would be a convent and it has a beautiful central garden. It is removed from the cathedral. (Original) Es una hospedería religiosa. Muy austera. No tiene televisión ni secador de pelo. Habitaciones muy sencillas. Como edificio es bonito. Seria un convento y tiene un bonito jardín central. Esta retirado de la catedral.

Very nice, but really tiny rooms. We loved it, but it may be not for everyone.

I adore this place! The location is convenient, the staff are helpful and friendly and the breakfasts, with freshly baked bread, are exceptional. I highly recommend it.

The location was great. It was 10 minutes walk to the city centre in this beautiful, green area. The building was surrounded by a nice garden, rooms were modern and clean. Free parking in the premises and wifi.

Very interesting place as a former residence for Catholic sacerdotes o monajas, I think. A very quiet place withb thick walls and high celings and it has a great breakfast for 5€. The room was cold due to the delay in turning on the radiator heat. Great lodging option for 35€ a night.

👍👍 Definitely worth trying theirs tortilla! They offer it here just as a side dish with every drink you ask, even water. Prices are not low here but also not high, it serves just normal dishes you can find in other places. The interior of the restaurant wasn't cosy as for me, tables and chairs are too...
