The owner of the city backpackers is very accommodating, bubbly, and easy to talk with. However if your going to ask the place itself don't risk! 1. Bed has bedbugs 2. Toilet is broken 3. Shower is also broken and not good.

Awful!! Doesn't look like the pictures at all. Rooms are dingy, smell of mould and look like horror film set. Sheets and mattresses are very worn out. One of the showers was broken and the other one had used bandages stuck on the wall. "Breakfast " is just bread and jam, not even a toaster. I've backpacked to over 20 countries in the last 15 years and this place was one of the very worst. It needs a total refurb. Location is good and staff are helpful but after one night I got the heck out of there.

Reasonable prices hostel/guesthouse. Shared bathroom and all rooms have AC. We didn't like the showers, no soap supplied and it was somehow dirty. It is a great value though very centrally located (couple meters away from Clark Quay MRT)

(-) Bed bugs everywhere, dusty, you can find other room with better quality with money you spend here. (+) hospitality, ac good, location good. Book for 2 nights, on the last night i moved to other hotel in little india with better room and cheaper. The photos you see at internet, booking aplication is 100% totally different, except the bunk bed and the ac.

Great location but poor environment. The price is cheap but the environment is so bad that you definitely would like to move to another place.

It is a great location walking distance to Clark Quay and Raffles Place. Affordable. Great people. But the bathrooms were dirty and there were bed bugs

I love the location of the Hostel. The staff were helpful and kind. You can rent a towel at the reception and buy an adapter there as well if your chargers aren't compatible with the plugs. Overall, a good accomodation for the price. We'll be back for sure.

I had a great stay at City backpackers! Abi was a really good host that wants the best for his visitors. This hostel has a good location, close to china town and the garden. I recommend this place for people who wants a cheap and safe stay

The rooms were tiny, dark and dirty. The owner was kind enough to change us to a different room but the new room had bugs. I recommend you find another hotel

Good enough for budget hostel. Can't expect more from the price given. Some review said there are bugs on the bed. But I can't found any. AC is cool enough.

Price is affordable and good for backpackers on budget. The one in the counter, Kuya Gerry is very accommodating and very nice. Free breakfast only includes bread with different spreads. He said you can have coffee anytime. Foods are not allowed inside room. Note: Beware of BED BUGS

Welcome to the bed bugs hostel. Worst experience ever in my life in a hostel. Before read the full review please look the pictures attached. I still feeling sick each time that I think about it. Everything started when I found a small bed bug over my finger, I didnt figure out what insect was this, but I started to get crazy and seaching over all the bed, the party just started, I saw few more, I decided rec all those bed bugs it was being a night mare (The photos are taken from the videos what are even worst than this terrific pictures) it was late already 1:00 am I didnt have a choice in that moment due noone attended the reception, but everything got worst when I caught a huge one full of blood that split over the bed sheets. I can handle a lot of things in a hostel, the price shows the type of hostel by itself. It can be dirty, smelly, unattended, small, with the cheaper bed stuff ever, but sleep with bud bugs under and over you? I managed to find another room in the same hostel, I was that tired that I fall slept with a big effort. The only option that I had was put myself on the street carrying 40kg and find any other place at 2:00 am. Of course I got away as fast as I could next day, with a sad answer about my complaints (ask for a refund in booking) .

The reception area is up the first flight of stairs in a small lobby area. There is a key deposit required in cash of SGD $10, which you get back at the end. Their is a bit of an odd smell in the area similar to mothballs. Our room was a level up and we stayed in a private two bed dorm. The room felt safe and was secure, which was important for us as female travellers. The room was small, but clean and had air-conditioning with a view of the street below. The bathroom/shower area located towards the back of that level was not very clean and also had a weird smell (not of toilets as you would expect). Breakfast was included, but it consisted of white bread and tea/instant coffee. We opted to eat out due to the options. If checking out early, stop by th desk and checkout to receive your room deposit back and then leave the key in the morning in the basket. The desk is only open certain hours of the day.

Free wifi, friendly owner, decent location (5 minute walk to Clarke Quay) , all at a low cost (especially in Singapore). However, quality comes at a price: rooms (mine in particular) were shared, showers do not have warm water, and rooms are hot despite the air conditioner. I would only recommend if you are on a budget and looking for a place to store your luggage.

Very strategic place. Easy to get to MRT or tourist site by walking. But the reception was not 24 hours, so when you need to so early check-out, you need to say good by to your deposit. The toilet also sometimes smells bad

The hostel is great. Staff is really friendly with good customer service and personality. Understood they previously had some issues with hardware and pest issue, but seems to me a lot of hard work was put into to recover and salvage. In all fairness, it's Super prime location in the heart of Singapore tourist attraction. Price is ultra value for money for what you are getting. Highly recommended!

😠 First time in Singapore and the worst experience I’ve ever had in life. We didn’t like the beds and told the front desk we didn’t like it and we want our money back. They didn’t give our money back and we were kinda forced to stay just because our fees were not refundable. Very very congested. They...
