We stayed in 5FOOTWAY for 3 nights. This is not my first time stay in hostel. Unfortunately we have an terrible experience this time. First, self checkin service not so convenience. There is a self-check in service when you get into the hostel. We have a little problem and cannot get the room access card. Therefore we have to call the staff through the phone which they provide on top of the checkin machine but we found out the phone is not working. Anyways, we fixed it by ourself. Secondly, soundproof was pretty bad! We stayed in a room next to the main guestroom door gate, Terrace and bathroom. We can hear that everyone accessed the guest room corridor very clearly every single time. Of course we can also hear other guests were talking at terrace. The cleaning staffs started to wash bathroom or washing the floor in the morning at 7am, we even can hear the whole process of cleaning and smell the detergent. Third, staffs are not helpful. After first night experience, we requested to change our room. As we don’t have phone card, we decided to send a message through Agoda booking record but no one reply until check out. Besides, no earplugs has provided. Forth, the 3rd night before check out. There was an fire accident downstair shop in midnight 2:30am. Strong smoke spread to whole hostel. Luckily no one hurts and we wore our pajama walk down to the street. One staff from other branch finally appeared but she keeps saying have to wait for the manager’s reply. Firemen were gone around 4:30am, that staff said we can go back to our room but without any special arrangement. How can we accept to sleep in a strong smell room? Last, twin room without side table and locker, which is not match with online photo. Bunk bed is too high and hard to climb up, it’s dangerous when you walk down from upper bed.

Our stay at the 5footway.inn hostel was truly terrible. When we arrived to move into the room it was not ready and we had to wait half an hour longer. The room was still being cleaned (steamed) past the check-in time. When we entered the room, we immediately noticed a very bad smell. When we asked if they could do something about it, they used a freshener spray which only helped for a couple minutes and after that we were back to square one. The hostel staff told us the smell is normal around that part of the hostel. This was not normal!! After spending one night in a smelly room with really uncomfortable beds, we found a bed bug the next day. We immediately evacuated the room and asked for another room. Unfortunately, the hostel itself was fully booked. Even though there was a room available in a neighboring 5footway.inn hostel, they would not let us switch because the price of the new room was slightly higher. They didn’t do anything to make sure we have a safe place to stay in Singapore. In the end, we decided to move out early and booked a hotel at our own expense. We were told we would get a refund for the night we didn’t spend but, even though we made a formal request to the hostel management, we never received it. My recommendation: DO NOT STAY THERE! I am generally a fan of hostels and stayed in dozens of them throughout southeast asia so I’m sad to say this but this is the worst hostel I have ever stayed in.

Nestled right in the centre of China town this hostel is tucked behind a market stall about 70 meters from the metro station. The hostel is rather expensive, but is normal price for a hostel in Singapore. The entrance to the building looks small but expands out and even has a terrace where you can eat and drink. The beds , showers , toilets are all good, basic but good. The doors in and out of the rooms need an oil, they're so loud ! but apart from that everything is worth the money.

This hostel is an interesting concept in itself. Location is prime - bang where Chinatown starts from. Step out of the hostel and you are surrounded with food, souvenirs, convenience stores, pubs, hawker centre and much more. The hostel beds are comfortable and washrooms spacious. I found both the beds and washrooms to be clean and maintained periodically. Breakfast doesn't have much options, so better to have it at the hawker centre outside. Price wise, it was somewhere around S$17-20 which is a steal.

Very nice hostel right in the middle of Chinatown. Located less than a minute walk from Chinatown metro station. The room and bed were clean. Every person has a locker. The bathroom was outside the room and it was okay, they clean it every morning. Breakfast was bread and jam and coffee. Overall it was worth the price.

The arrival at the hotel where we need to check in with a computer is not so nice. Much better when someone is welcoming the guest! Could be simpler, for example the signature on the touch screen is quite impossible. Anyway the cleaning staff is really nice and helpful. A fridge in the kitchen for the guests would be a good idea.

Booked private room with 4 people in 3rd floor. The room provided with bunk bed for 4, AC, High speed wifi! The shared bathroom provided with warm water (shower), there were also toilet with bidet (only 2 toilet with bidet) but its okay. The breakfast was soso. The kitchen in rooftop was great! The housekeeping was very diligent! love! The best location hostel very very very near with Chinatown MRT exit A

good for backpacker. I stayed in 4 beds room with my friends. it's clean, they can provide you towels and hair dryers. sharing bathrooms and toilets, in adequate unit. near MRT station, right in front of them is chinatown food market and souvenirs. literally in tourist area. they have dining room for breakfast and you can keep your luggage here after check out. luggage storage is free for one day in the same day you checked out. its about $5 per luggage for the next day.

This hostel is good because located at strategic place in Chinatown. Service is good, the staff is helpful, got free breakfast too, but there is a moment when we want to take breakfast but the jam full of ants, but Aunty (the staff) quickly remove the ants for us. Also, if you had been stay here in 2016/2017 they provide us the phone to use while stay there, now they didn't provide it anymore. Overall this is the good hostel to stay!

I didn’t know I had to self check-in, but it was still easy. Check-in time at 3pm. Human contact was minimal but the staffs are there and still very helpful, even the cleaners. The ac was nice and cool, the bed was okay, the bathrooms and toilets are clean. They provide breakfast which is a luxury for hostels. The location is the best though. Only a few meter from MRT, bus stop is quite near, many hawker center nearby, and also close to ann siang hills where you can find a lot of bars.

No windows in rooms (no big deal for me), but really the place is small, not only the rooms. The security cabin is actually below the beds (which I found ingenious). If you stay in the third floor, good luck with the stairs (watch out for the short steps!). Too few showers as well. But it's really cheap, and also well placed on the heart of Chinatown, just by the equally named train station. Stay here if you want to save some money.

The hostel is close to MRT and Chinatown. Very easy to find food around, specially Chinese food. Affordable and great place to stay

Pretty convenient location which just right at the Chinatown mrt exit. Clean and comfortable. Do have female dorm. However, very troublesome for the self check-in kioks especially travel in big group. Recommend for backpack and solo traveller.

The place is great as it is located at the many shops and dining area at cheaper price. Got amazed with the self check in kiosk but a bit of a hassle when you are with a group. But that was way easy! Asking tips and directions may be a challenge but good thing that Singapore is easy to navigate. Only 4-star because there are times even the staff the one creating noise in the area aside from the guests.

Had a great stay in this hostel. Great location just a minutes walk from the MRT entrance. If you want to eat or buy souvenirs just simply go downstairs.

Value for money hostel. If you don't mind forgoing a few of the nicer touches. This is the place. Clean free breakfast and shared areas. The beds are small. There are no dividers or screens. The secure storage space is small. Can't complain but you get what you pay for.

😠 First time in Singapore and the worst experience I’ve ever had in life. We didn’t like the beds and told the front desk we didn’t like it and we want our money back. They didn’t give our money back and we were kinda forced to stay just because our fees were not refundable. Very very congested. They...
