St. Martin's Island is a picturesque island located in the southernmost part of Bangladesh, in the Bay of Bengal. The island is only about 9 kilometers south of the mainland and can be reached by boat from the nearby port town of Teknaf. The island is a popular tourist destination due to its stunning natural beauty, including its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. The island is also home to a small fishing community, and visitors can experience the local way of life by interacting with the friendly locals and tasting some of the delicious seafood dishes. One of the most popular activities for tourists on St. Martin's Island is to relax on the beaches, where they can soak up the sun and enjoy the refreshing sea breeze. Visitors can also go for a swim or try out some water sports such as snorkeling or scuba diving to explore the colorful marine life. Despite its popularity as a tourist destination, St. Martin's Island has managed to maintain its natural beauty and serenity, thanks to the efforts of the local community and the government to preserve the island's environment. Overall, St. Martin's Island is a must-visit destination for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway and an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Bangladesh.

Saint Martin Island is the only coral island of Bangladesh which is also known as Narikel Jinjira. St. Martin is a great place for spending your vacation with your family or friends. All the resorts are quite near to the sea beach and the beach view is pretty amazing. Foods are average. The local people are friendly enough.

Busy beach. Not cleaned at all. Sea water is clean and very blue but people of saint martin isnt. Most of them are arrogant and liars. They cheat people to buy their services. If you speak bangla they will charge you double or 3x money from you. They only charge less if you can speak in their language only! They do not respect travelers at all even their life depends on them.

St. Martin's Island (Bengali: সেন্ট মার্টিন্স দ্বীপ) is a small island (area only 3 km2) in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, about 9 km south of the tip of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. There is a small adjoining island that is separated at high tide, called Chera Dwip. It is about 8 kilometres (5 miles) west of the northwest coast of Myanmar, at the mouth of the Naf River. Millennia ago, the island used to be an extension of the Teknaf peninsula, but at a later time some portion of this peninsula got submerged and thus the southernmost part of the aforementioned peninsula became an island, and was disconnected from the Bangladesh mainland. The first settlement started 250 years ago, in 18th century, by Arabian merchants who named the island 'Jazira'. During British occupation the island was named after the then Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mr. Martin as St. Martin Island. Likely because one or more of the Arabs were Saint and whose name could not be identified. Local names of the island are "Narikel jinjira"[3] which means 'Coconut Island', and "Daruchini Dwip" which means "Cinnamon island". It is the only coral island in Bangladesh.

St. Martin Island is a small coral island (only 8 square kilometers) located in the northeastern part of the Bay of Bengal, the southernmost part of Bangladesh. It is located about 9 km south of Teknaf in Cox's Bazar district and 8 km west of the coast of Myanmar at the mouth of Naf River.Locally it is also called Coconut Jinjira because of the abundance of coconuts available. It is a name widely known to the sea lovers of Bangladesh. The famous writer and fiction writer Humayun Ahmed's full-length movie Daruchini Dwip made the island more popular.Around 1890 AD, some Bengali and Rakhine people came to settle on the island. They were mainly fishermen. As far as is known, 13 families were the first settlers. They chose the northern part of the island. Over time, this island became a Bengali-dominated area. The island already had kea and scrub. Perhaps the Bengali fishermen planted a large number of coconut trees on the island as a means of relief from water stress and fatigue.Over time the entire island became a 'Coconut Tree Chief' island. Based on this, the locals started calling the northern part of the island as Coconut Jinjira. Around 1900 AD, the British Survey team accepted this island as part of British-India. In the survey they gave the name Saint Martin after the Christian Saint Martin instead of the local name. After that gradually to people outside the region, the island came to be known as Saint Martin.St. Martins Island has an area of about 8 square kilometers and is long from north to south. The three sides of the island are bedrock that sinks at high tide and rises at low tide. If they are taken, its area will be about 10-15 square kilometers. This island is about 5.63 km long in north and south. The width of the island is sometimes 700 meters and sometimes 200 meters. On the east, south and west sides of the island there are innumerable rock piles far out into the sea. The average height of St. Martin's Island above sea level is 3.6 meters. About 10-15 km of coral reef covers the west-northwest side of St. Martins.Geographically it is divided into three parts. The northern part is called Narikael Jinjira or North Para. The southern part is called Dakshin Para and is connected to it by a narrow tail-like area extending towards the southeast. And the narrowest part is known as Galachipa. To the south of the island there is a small island of 100 to 500 square meters in area locally known as Chheradia or Siradia/Chhera Dwip. It is not known when this island was first discovered by man. Some early Arab traders named the island Jinjira. It is noted that they used to rest on this island while traveling from Chittagong to Southeast Asia. Over time, the people of Chittagong and adjacent areas knew this island as Jinjira. It is a deserted island. This island is walkable during low tide. But a boat is required during high tide. People settled here about 100 to 125 years ago. Currently more than seven thousand people live here. People make a living through shops. Small children sell seaweed collected from the island to tourists. A lot of coconuts and dabs are sold all over the island of St. Martins. Bengali-speaking Rohingyas from Arakan in Myanmar are often seen in the island region.

Northern part of the Island. There are three different points where you can enjoy the beach. There is one natural bend, where you can swim without any risk. In other areas be cautious about the Coral. These are sharp and cause injuries.

Nestled in the turquoise waters of the Bay of Bengal, Saint Martin Island in Bangladesh is an undiscovered gem that encapsulates natural beauty and tranquility. My visit in February 2018 left an indelible mark on my soul, as I experienced the sheer magic and captivating allure of this enchanting paradise. As I stepped foot on the island, I was immediately captivated by its pristine sandy beaches, fringed with swaying palm trees and kissed by gentle ocean breezes. The crystal-clear waters revealed a mesmerizing underwater world, teeming with vibrant coral reefs and a kaleidoscope of tropical fish. Snorkeling and diving enthusiasts will find themselves in a state of awe, exploring the ethereal marine life beneath the surface. The island's charm extends beyond its captivating beaches. The locals, with their warm smiles and hospitable nature, welcomed me into their community with open arms. The small fishing villages exude a sense of simplicity and serenity, offering a glimpse into the traditional way of life on the island. One of the highlights of my trip was witnessing the breathtaking sunset from the westernmost point of the island. As the sun dipped below the horizon, it painted the sky with a breathtaking array of hues, casting a golden glow over the landscape. It was a moment of pure bliss and tranquility, etched forever in my memory. Saint Martin Island also boasts a delectable culinary scene. I relished the opportunity to savor freshly caught seafood, prepared with local spices and flavors. From succulent grilled prawns to aromatic fish curries, each bite was a culinary delight that tantalized my taste buds. In terms of accommodation, the island offers a range of options to suit every traveler's preferences. From cozy beachfront bungalows to luxurious resorts, there is something for everyone. Falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves and waking up to breathtaking ocean views was an experience that rejuvenated both mind and body. It is worth noting that Saint Martin Island is a destination that remains relatively unspoiled by mass tourism, offering a sense of exclusivity and serenity that is increasingly rare to find. It is a place where time seems to stand still, allowing visitors to disconnect from the chaos of everyday life and reconnect with nature. In conclusion, my visit to Saint Martin Island in Bangladesh was a truly unforgettable experience. Its unparalleled natural beauty, warm hospitality, and a sense of serenity make it a hidden treasure waiting to be discovered. Whether you are seeking adventure, relaxation, or a cultural experience, Saint Martin Island will captivate your senses and leave you yearning for more.

Perfect place for spending idle & quality time with near & dear ones. You have to stay at least 2 night here for exploring Saint Martin well. Also you have to cost a lot here. Everything is over priced here as the goods have to travel a long way to be here in Saint Martin Island. The island have no electricity directly from the main land. The hotels & resorts use Generator or Solar Power.
