Nothing was great about the experience, the food looked like it was out all day, was promised fresh veg. All that came out was some new potatoes, we was also told that no more meat was being cooked. After we got the poor excuse of food that was there fresh lamb came out, much to the delight of the people that had too good to go orders. Very poor service as well waited 20 minutes to be served the glass to get my own drink.

Came for a lovely meal today with my wife and was greeted by Marie at the door who showed us to our table. Was served by Lynn and Jasmin. Food was delicious and the toilets were lovely and clean. Always very pleasant staff who always go that bit further to keep all their guests happy. Shall definitely be returning again and highly recommend.

Brilliant restaurant. Nice atmosphere and a very clean place. The staff were really nice and polite and helped us accommodate a large amount of people. The food was mouth-watering and the desserts were amazing. Everything is worth the price. Coming here again.

There was nothing great about your south end branch me and my wife was there no more than half an hour the restaurant it’s self smelt like urine, when going up to get our carvery we had to wait around for ten minutes for someone to come serve us our meat, the food was absolutely disgusting everything was burnt and stuck together the stuffing did not taste like it was cooked at all, the carrots were rock solid, the mint sauce was disgusting all the vinegar left the mint sauce and left a blob of mint on my wife’s plate, the Yorkshire pudding was rock solid nearly cut my mouth and when arriving didn’t have any knives on the table. Has got to be the worst 23 pound I have ever spent and I will never return you south end Toby carvery EVER again

Very good carvery. Food good. Don't always find the atmosphere very relaxing and chilled though. Might depend on what time of the day when visiting. Lunch time is usually busy with families and sometimes this detracts from a more chilled ambience. Although the service is good it's more cafe like in its approach. Good value but I prefer a traditional pub but that's just my personal taste. For families it's good.

Really lovely food. Excellent all round apart from the PARKING FINE OF £85 from EuroCar. Never have I ever paid for parking in a Toby Carvery. This was more that the meal for two £32. + £4 tip. Be very careful when parking there. No one in the Toby Carvery told, or reminded us there was a parking fee. Only in London or maybe the Seafront would I pay, NOT off the A127........shame won't be going back there again........very unhappy !!

Went there father's day for special breakfast treat and even at 10am there was no bacon, a few eggs which we had to wait to be cooked, no hash browns. Toilets disgusting!! Won't even describe it as it was very unpleasant. Lodged a complaint online and not heard anything back so they clearly don't care about customer satisfaction . Waste of money for three of us. Was not even busy either. Will not return and go to our usual Toby at wickford in future which unfortunately was fully booked

We had a lovely carvery lunch in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. We enjoyed a nice drink with our lunch which everyone enjoyed. It was made special by your service lady Lynn who looked after us cheerfully and completely and even helped my elderly mother select and plate her dinner at the counter.

Location was very busy... but well staffed to accommodate number of guests... food was fresh and all dishes available. Only down side was refill drinks machine was out of many options, not told by staff when selecting that option.. cleanliness good and tables cleared and cleaned quickly..

Went for dinner tonight on the £5 per Carvery offer. The food was good, apart from the beef which was really tough. But our server, Kirsty, was exceptional! She was like a whirlwind, doing everything she could to make her guests happy - even making gravy when we told her the dishes were empty. Kirsty went above and beyond , what a credit to your restaurant she is! Lovely, friendly , bubbly - exactly what you want in a waitress

Me and my family had a midweek treat at Toby carvery on Wednesday, the food wasn’t the best this time round but we had a fantastic waitress Kirsty. She was very attentive & really sweet to our young children. We had a little moan about the food but was very understanding & took our criticism on board also assured us this would get back to kitchen staff. We enjoy a family meal at Toby and will definitely be back, hopefully we get the same waitress again to make it such a positive and happy experience in general :)

Alex the carver has welcomed me and my boyfriend very politely was very professional, friendly and amazing. We arrived on Wednesday around 2 pm; she helped us with the menu, offered nice drinks and gave pleasant and wonderful service. Definitely looking forwards to come back to this places!!!!

I was really impressed with the care to detail when it comes to allergies. They were brilliant and helpful. With a severe allergy, It can be hard to eat out with a severe allergy, but here there were no worries. Our waitress, Lynn was really friendly. It was a lovely calm place to eat.

The staff at the carvery were so miserable, I don't think anybody smiled once, the lady who took us to our table looked depressed. Went up to get our meal the first 3 plates the chef put back in the kitchen as dirty you could still see the food on there, the slices of meat were so thin you didn't get a full slice of any of the meats, the veg looked like it had been there all week the only thing that was fresh was the cauliflower cheese, so my carvery dinner consisted of meat???, roast potatoes stuffing and cauliflower cheese, when it came to desserts 3 of the choices they didn't have and our cheesecake was served with ice cream as no cream either, overall terrible food, awful miserable service and will never go back, totally spoilt our Christmas get together.

Although ours is quite nice the very, very limited bit of meat you get makes it only as cheap as any of our local cafés that offer a roast slightly cheaper...The kids portion of meat is no where near enough for my 8 or 14yr old so have to end up getting adult ones anyway. Also the Extra large, again you may get an extra Yorkshire or pig in blanket but doesn't seem to be extra meat...Shame really as food tastes really nice.

The service was first rate . All the meat was very tender and there was a good amount of fresh vegetables to choose from and as always the Yorkshire puddings where some of the best our party of 10 had eaten . We left a little room to sample some of your pancakes and ice cream

Although the food was par for the course for Toby I would have expected more elsewhere, we were greeted by I believe the manager who greeted us with hello babe you got a table booked, now I know that you may want us to feel comfortable but I am sure that “ hello babe “ is not in the Toby book of welcoming guests, once it was confirmed that we had a reservation we continued to be referred to as babe, we were asked were we wanted to sit and was led through the restaurant we explained the type of seating we wanted and was pointed in the general direction of what we wanted, on choosing we noticed a more suitable table and went to inform them of our decision to move and was told that it didn’t matter where we sat as it was all the same to them. A waitress then took our drinks order which arrived, however our grandson who has a disability required a straw to assist him with his drink and this was requested and we were told certainly be right back, I went and got my bottomless cherry pepsi, unfortunately the cherry syrup flavour was missing from my drink so I went back to the bar and pointed this out and was told that no it’s not missing because the machine would say it had run out, I told them that it definitely didn’t have any flavouring, to which one of the waitresses went to the machine to get a drink to taste on doing so she confirmed my statement by telling the other members of staff who were at the bar “he’s right there isn’t any flavouring “ I felt like saying thank you for proving that I am not a liar because that is what they were basically accusing me of being, I was told that they would sort it out and bring my drink over, whilst there I asked about my grandsons straw and was told that they would bring that over with my drink. The carvery opened for service about 10 or so minutes later and one of us assisted our grandson whilst the other got there dinner, we then went and took our seats and I went to ask where the toilet was, whilst at the bar getting directions I asked about my drink and grandson’s straw and was told “ oh we got waylaid and forgot “ I fail to see what waylaid them as up until this point there were hardly any people there, when I returned to the table my drink and grandsons straw had arrived but we had to chase the pigs in blankets we had ordered, guess what… forgotten again, when they finally did arrive which was very near to the end of our meal they were exceptionally hot and we had to wait for them to cool before allowing our grandson any of them, but this didn’t matter as they were obviously not fresh and had been microwaved to heat them up as the inside was as dry as a bone with no moisture at all, then came the final part as I have said our grandson is disabled and as such can take his time when eating but it was very obvious that he was still eating when the waitress came over and said we all finished then and started collecting the plates, we had to pull our grandsons plate back and say he wasn’t finished yet. And for these reasons I will never return to this restaurant nor will I recommend to anyone I know

Lovely time with my family unfortunately didn't see any signs to put in my car registration number, nor did the staff tell us. Never had to pay to eat in a Toby Carvery before when car park right outside, like any eatery actually. I've tried calling so many times can't get through and left messages regarding I got a parking fine! Absolutely disgraceful Unfortunately paid in cash so no bank statement of proof so really needed to speak to staff to help me with this. Do not park here I had a baby in a buggy asleep perhaps I missed signs due to uneven paths of getting in establishment Please

Our experience here is always great. But today's food was extremely lovely and tasty. We would like to thank Johnny for our food today Katie for our table service and Sarah the manager who always goes above and beyond for us whenever she is on duty

The Southend Toby carvery is rubbish I will be traveling to the wickford one instead from now on and I suggest you do too! The potatoes were still raw inside and crunchy inside and soft on the outside, in my opinion that's the wrong way round they're supposed to be light and fluffy inside and a bit of crunch on the out side... had to wait 10 minutes for some gravy water. the waiter was lovely but he was rushed around as he was the only waiter on the floor no one helping him at all. And there were no Yorkshire puddings out had to wait for them also considering it was Saturday lunch time this was very poor...👎🏼

Went to the A127 Toby Bell. Wasn’t impressed food was dry on trays. Had to wait for service to get meals. Didn’t enjoy food. Gravy had lumps in it. The ladies toilet’s disgusting don’t think they been cleaned on regular basis. The staff are lovely polite helpful efficient in their duties. It’s a shame the place isn’t better looked after. A major revamp required. I shall not be returning.

It was quite busy, we had to wait to be seated as there was nobody at the front desk when we arrived, and two other families were in front of us, but it is something you would expect when it is busy. All the staff were very polite, and our waitress was outstanding. The food was good, but the Brussel sprouts were a bit hard, and the gravy was a little thin, I did hear someone else comment about the gravy.

Great experience. Food was lovely. Staff were brilliant and attentive. Met the new manager who was extremely polite and friendly. Would definitely recommend and will definitely go back. Well done to you all. Plenty of meat put on your plate.

Although we had booked we were put in a small room miles away from the carvery and were told that's all the spaces we have to offer, but when we walked to the carvery there was lots of empty tables. I had to line up with my sister who has bad hips an knees and carry her dinner back to the table then line up again to get mine. Meat was running out so we were given small portions and veg was in short supply. Waitress was sweet but her shift ended before we finished and we seemed to be forgotten, I had to go to the bar twice to ask for the bill

Very nice staff, very fast service, love the outdoor seating area for hot days and mostly tasty food all round. One snag, Just BBQ chicken wings are just chicken wings with BBQ sauce on top; would taste much better if actually oven cooked with BBQ sauce/seasoning. However for all 8 of us, we would visit again.

Not the best food in the world, was under hot plate to long, flies around the gravy pots, meat was ruined by the hot plate 🍽 and limits on meat consumption. The good thing was the very friendly, smiley, lady, waitress, she had amazing customer service skills and was very helpful. If the food was as good as the waitress I'd be much happier.

Father's days so very busy. We arrived at 10.30 our time, but by the time we got to the counter there was no mushrooms left. Also lots of other foods missing and a lot of waiting around to be replenished. Included beans, eggs, hash browns, tomato sauces. Butter, jam. Service was very good, very helpful, cheerful and attentive. Lynn was our server.
