An absolute nightmare! Worst hotel of my entire life, worst staff, worst service, worst room!!! I advise everyone not staying there! To begin with the hotel doesnā€™t offer any parking, the breast parking lot is around 15 min walk through the entire old town. You need to carry your own luggage from the parking lot to the hotel, no help at all! Parking is expensive! When you ask the very incompetent receptionist for advice where to park she sends you to the most expensive one! After complaining to the manager: Luciana she said that we are adults and should be able to make our own decisions and not listen to the staff of the hotel. The hotel canā€™t help with anything not even with recommendation of boat tours / activities etc. After carrying the luggage from parking to hotel you need to carry them up the stairs as there is no elevator. The room has a problem with the windows. The A/C hits you in the face while sleeping and dries up your skin. The bathroom just offers a bathtub without curtains making it very difficult to shower without the floor being flooded with water. No proper housekeeping service. Spiderwebs in the bathroom. No water in the room not even one water bottle. If you want to buy water at the reception you need to pay in cash. Receptionist very rude and of no help! I have been traveling for the last 20 years and this was the worse stay in my entire life! A nightmare!!! Uncomfortable sheets! No place for cosmetics in the bathroom! No proper closet to hang clothes!

I have travelled more than 110 countries and many cities, but just wrote a few reviews. This is one of the worst hotels in my whole life. The receptionistā€™s answer is always ā€œI donā€™t know.ā€ The closest public parking needs to charge more than 600 hrk and which is around ā‚¬80 per day. And the receptionist has told that I should park at this one, and I can get a daily pass. But when I asked about the price, the answer is, ā€œI donā€™t know, you can check yourselfā€. When I was asking the parking staff, she has kindly told me I can park at another public parking lot just near by, but 4 times cheaper, this one is too expensive. Due to the hotel is located at the old town, we have kindly asking for the assistance of luggages, but the receptionist said that she is the only person, nobody can help for it. Holy. It reminded me the bad experience at Oia, Santorini. Because the islands tour is popular at Split, I have asked the receptionist about some information, but the answer is ā€œI donā€™t know.ā€ and then she has pointed me a travel agency at the the front of hotel. When I wanted to make sure that the agency is trustable, but she just smile and smile. The hotel room is terrible, especially the shower area, just a bathtub without any cover, and easy to floating the whole bathroom after a shower. Anyway, at the beginning of the check in, the receptionist told me that, ā€œour hotel is a heritage.ā€ So what? During the check in, a very poker face, just like she is somebody or neighbours on the street, not working for the hotel. For the check out, even worse, seems I own that lady so much money. We were asking for the luggages storage. She just said, ā€œleave it there.ā€ with a very unfriendly and mind face. Strange, a very strange attitude. Another worst point is they asked ā‚¬2 for each person for the city tax, normal and acceptable, but excuse me cash only, and no change at all. We only have ā‚¬3.5 and ā‚¬50 euro note. And they were keeping remind me that I still own them 50 cents. When I got the local currency exchange, and ask how much will be. They charged me 5 hrk, small money, but the exchange rate is ā‚¬1=7 hrk, for ā‚¬50 cents, why 5 hrk? Ridiculous! P.s. The hotel is really located a hidden area of street, and difficult to follow google map to find it. And we have been asked the restaurant people around, but nobody knows it.

I wish I had read more reviews of this hotel before booking. No shower, a tiny bathtub, nowhere to hang wet towels, absolutely no housekeeping service (that's a first), sheets that were merely laid on top of the bed, like we were to make up the beds ourselves, and to top it all we had to pay the whole bill in cash! Three night's stay. Cash. Who carries that amount of cash on them? And when I emailed the non existent receptionist to ask for a sheet that actually fitted the extremely uncomfortable sofa bed, and for a duvet that was big enough to cover both of my daughters, I got no reply at all. No acknowledgement either, the one time I saw her at reception. Do not get sucked in with the pictures or the location. Stay somewhere else. Anywhere else.

Hotel This is not a four star hotel, by any standards. It is a simple, basic hotel, with low level of service. Let me share our experience. Arrival / check in: We were arriving late 22/23 pm, had notified the hotel and they answered back and confirmed. Still they called 21 and asked about our arrival, that was repeated. We were told to call at arrival. When we arrived at the said time, the one who answered had no idea about us an asked what hotel we were at. After 20 min he showed up, did not even greet us and started with payment immediately. He didnā€™t know the system, it was getting late and I asked maybe tomorrow? The reservation was secured by card. He answered money now and city tax only cash. Room We had booked a ā€œSuite Grand Luxuryā€ as they have chosen to name the room. It was simple with sockets not working and a an empty fridge on the middle of the floor. But functional. Checking out. Check out is 10 am. 10:15 we were on our way out and for the first time we where actually addressed by the personnel. We were told that if weā€™re not out in 15 min, they would charge more. He later apologised, he was nice and blamed the hotel policy. This we can believe, not his fault that the hotel has such low standards. Generally The conclusion is that the hotel is ridiculously overpriced. Otherwise the hotel has some resemblance with a hostel, with drinks in a fridge with padlock in the reception and guys behind the desk not looking up from their phone. They market and price this as ā€œ4 starā€ it is just not true. The location is good.

I just love Split and the staff at reception are warm and very helpful. Their assistance made my stay very memorable. It was a pleasure staying at Plaza Marchi and I look forward to staying there on my next visit.

Terrible place. Advertised as a 4 star hotel. Nothing of the sort. Not even 3-star. No restaurant. No lift from ground floor. No help with luggage. No credit cards. No view from the room. Kept waiting 45 minutes on arrival. Given double bed when made clear on booking that I was with my 14 year old son and asked for twin beds.

Very nicely decorated room, with the charm of Middle age boutique hotel in one of the best location s of Split. But, no cleanliness during our two days stay, not even one more toilet paper. Very rude staff, they didn't help us with our baggage and they wanted us to pay more for the parking lot, although we had an agreement through email. The girl in the reception was telling a lot of lies, trying to persuade us to pay more for the garage. But finally I told her I will call the police and she resigned. No breakfast in the hotel. All in all a good hotel in an excellent position, but with bad staff

Booked and paid for a large queen (we are a couple) and got room 106 - single occupancy with window blinds that cannot open - so 100% darknessā€¦ creepy and damp. Breakfast 10mins walk away up-hill, and poor quality - not worth walking for. Reception staff disorganised/confused, and demanded payment in full before seeing the room - alarm bells should have rung. Not worth the money. Glad to only stay one night. Good reviews look like they are all for the luxury rooms at the top of the building. Only go if youā€™re paying too dollar for best rooms!

Very well positioned hotel right in the heart of the old town but in a quiet location allowing for a good night sleep. All the main spots are within walking distance. The room and bathroom are both spacious and clean. The staff was very helpful in logistics for my day trips as its low season. Iva especially was so welcoming and friendly right from my arrival. There is a direct airport shuttle bus leaving from the ferry port which is only a 10-15 min walk.

For starters, the hotel can definitely get better signage up; apart from the name at the top of the building it is not immediately apparent where the entrance is (which is at the end of a dark ally). Even though reception was friendly enough it took her very long to acknowledge us as she had been engaged in a phone call that seemed to last forever. There is clearly something wrong with the computer check-in software because it took two different receptionists (one that was annoyingly chewing gum) a very long time to retrieve information from ā€œThe Systemā€; only to reboot it all to start over. Anyway, the hotel is small and charming in a heritage way, but amenities are lacking. Our room (which was marked as the ā€œVIPā€ penthouse and I am guessing one of the better rooms) didnā€™t have a bath but only a shower (which was fine), but crucially didnā€™t have a coffee maker (which was not fine). Our room strangely did have what looked like an electric massage couch to what purpose I still donā€™t know as it didnā€™t work. A tiny fridge was stuck into the corner of the room on the floor as an after-thought to someoneā€™s complaint. Nobody has cleaned under the bed in months and the bathroom floor had a previous guestā€™s long black hair all over. The little private balcony was very nice. Even though the hotel sells breakfasts they bizarrely expect you to walk (a pleasant enough) 650m along the promenade to a sister hotel to enjoy a pretty uninspired and dreadful breakfast there. Best to avoid the breakfast option altogether.

This is a difficult review to write. The location is excellent and we took an Uber to the harbor. After that it is a short walk in the pedestrian street but at 37c , I could not find the entrance !!!ā€™ I asked several people, no one knew ! There is big sign if one look up the right angle, but no sign at the entrance which is in an alley. I ended up calling the front desk to have someone walk me to the hotel, which they were kind enough to do. Room is modern and spacious and so is the bathroom. There is no bar at the hotel, mini fridge is empty and if you book direct, they ask you to pay cash. So be prepared.

This is the best location of any hotel we found. Right in the palace and old town. We could walk to everything we ever went to and there are a million bars and restaurants within 1 minute walk. Dina checked us in and she was super great

A wonderful hotel located in the heart of the old town of Split. Very friendly staff available for all guests' questions. The hotel has a wonderful terrace at the top with a beautiful view of the city and the port. Parking is not part of the hotel because it is located in small streets inside the palace. We plan to return next summer to Plaza Marchi.

We stayed in a superior room 17th to 18th August 2023. When we were about to go to bed after a long day travelling, the alarm of the safe in our room (closed by previous guests) kept on beeping continuously loudly (with green light flashing on it). We called the hotel's phone number and a man called Lukas (night staff) said he will pass by in 20min to check the safe since there's no reception after 10pm. We waited and 30min later (with no news from Lukas) we called to ask his ETA and he replied that he is not coming because the safe is not beeping according to his superior. No one called us back to say that no one was coming to assist us so we ended waiting to end up spending the night with the loud beep from the safe. We also work in the hotel and tourism industry, therefore we believe that comfort and safety should be top priorities and not neglected as we have experienced that night. We can not recommend such a hotel to any type of travellers. Do not expect help or any form of assistance from the the staff or management once the reception is closed.

Oh dear, the only redeeming feature of this hotel is the excellent location. Our ferry docked in Split at 11.00 so we made our way to the hotel with our heavy suitcase, we appreciated this would be before our room would be ready, however the receptionist barely looked at us before saying check-in is at 15.00 but we could leave our bag unsecured in reception. We headed out to explore Split and on our return to check-in another receptionist greeted us and wanted to charge us ā‚¬400 despite the room being paid for in advance! It took the intervention of the 1st receptionist to resolve this. Theā‚¬8 City tax had to be paid in cash. We were allocated room 106 which was very elegantly decorated. The Queen bed was very comfortable but these were the only positives about the room. There was no where to sit apart from the bed, the window or the shutters didn't open so there was no natural light and there was a damp smell. This gave the feeling of a nicely decorated cell. There was no communal seating area at the hotel in which to relax. We had paid for breakfast which was served in a sister hotel a 10 minute walk away. I would strongly recommend avoiding this option, it was most unpleasant and today the milk for the cereals was sour! We headed to a cafe for a croissant and a decent coffee. The worst hotel we have stayed in.

I am staying in Split for a while now, and this is the best hotel here for sure! The location is perfect, center of old town and is decorated in harmony with the palace. The staff was very helpful, even before we came to the hotel! Atmosphere was really friendly and we felt great staying there. Room was spacious and very very clean. Really recommend it!

Small boutique hotel. Very nice and very clean, the location is incredible, in the heart of Diocletian's Palace. Nice views from rooftop terrace

Lovely boutique hotel in a great location in the old town. There's no bar or restaurant onsite but so many cafes, bars and restaurants close by to choose from. We liked taking a glass of wine or a coffee up to the rooftop terrace and just soaking up the view.

Hidden Gem! I had room 401 and it was beautiful. Very accommodating staff. She arranged tuk tuk and recommended wonderful restaurants. Could not have been happier with the location too. Right in the middle of everything, but up an alley so was quiet at night.

Hotel is right beside the port in old town. Rooms are old world with modern comforts. Transfer from the airport was organised by the hotel and very expensive...organise your own transfer if you are on a budget. Hotel is room only but there are plenty of options for breakfast around the hotel. I would stay there again...but I will organise my own airport transfer next time

Maaann this was an absolute treat and a huge high light of our Europe trip journey!! Beautiful city!! My wife and I were switch in to this hotel because the original got caught in a storm. We really enjoyed the stay and the room was beautiful and felt very homey. The first staff we came across was a young lady who had one of the most open and outgoing personality we came across in Europe. Sorry I can't remember the name šŸ˜“. She treated well and made us feel comfortable! Our room over looked the open hall with the statue and we could see parts of the palace. Looking forward to come back. Thank you for taking care of us

We visited Marchi Square, which is located in the heart of the old town, right next to Diocletian's Palace. from the hotel you can also see a part of Diocletian's cellars which is not open to the public, and at the top of the hotel there is a terrace with a view of the entire city. we rented a deluxe room, which is very large for three people, with a large bathroom. the staff is very friendly. it enabled us to find a nearby garage for an affordable price, which is only a few minutes from the hotel, because the hotel cannot be reached by car because it is only in the center. We will definitely come back again and thank you to Plazi Marchi for a wonderful stay.

A very nicely situated hotel in the Old Town, close to everything if you like Roman palaces, bars, cafes and old houses. We got us freely upgraded to deluxe room and got one bottle of Cava for free. The design of the interior is old fashioned but newly refurbished with original walls. Breakfast could not be offered at the hotel but a good Cafe for breakfast is just 10 steps from the main entrance! I highly recommend this hotel that was easy to find.

I never write reviews, but this experience was quite startling. After we arrived the receptionist didnā€™t say hi or acknowledge us even after I had said our names and told her we had a reservation. Apparently she was working on it, as she spent the next 30 mins looking at her computer, focused like she was solving the New York Times crossword. She explained that she was new so we were pretty patient with her, but it was starting to get a bit excessive. After nearly 45mins we were taken up to our room which was quite frankly, unacceptable. The entire room STANK of black mold. We immediately walked downstairs but sadly the receptionist was helping another person (which again took half an hour). When we explained the issue, she claimed she didnā€™t have a good sense of smell and hadnā€™t noticed (sorry but the latter is impossible) and told us that she couldnā€™t change our room as weā€™d been in there for half an hour. Actually we had been sat on the chairs visible by reception waiting for her again, so then she changed track. She told us we could not have a refund because she needed to get the manager to come, and practically begged us to look at another room. The next room smelled as if the walls were made of car air fresheners; we actually wondered if she had called the cleaner to spray 4 cans of febreeze into the air to satisfy our nasal senses. Anyway, we decided to take it as a refund wasnā€™t looking likely and we wanted to actually have a chance to look around Split. The interior of the room and hotel is tacky but not in a good way and the walls look like the aim was distressed concrete but the wallpaper people misunderstood. We had a single sheet between two. It was expensive, and not worth the cash. Split is a beautiful and wonderful city and we loved exploring, but this hotel experience wasnā€™t cool. If you want to be a hotel receptionist, perhaps a smile and a hello would make other issues slightly more forgivable. But not mold.

The hotel forgot to mention that you have to clime 17 steps in a staircase to reach the alivator and to walk 400 yards with your luggage to reach the hotel. The beautiful bed is made of resin and the overall quality is definitly below there rating. I give them 3 stars about the great service from the management on the day we left.

The staff were incredibly helpful and booked us into the best restaurant in town (which we were told was fully booked when we tried), organised ferry tickets and taxis and carried our bags to the taxi rank on the edge of the pedestrian area. And the location is excellent - though central split is small and so staying in the old town (literally next to the ancient city walls) wasn't a big deal for us.

We loved everything about Plaza Marchi Hotel. I normally only make reviews very rarely, but I simply have to give my very best recommendations of this place, and particularly the staff there. Never experienced more friendly, welcoming and helpful personnel. Thank you so much for an amazing stay and superb dining tips. We will come back!

The apartment was perfect, just in the old town and had the most amazing view. The staff were fantastic, loved the breakfast and had a very comfortable stay. Nothing to fault and would stay again.

Service was exceptional - made sure they knew where we were going, had dinner reservations during a very very busy time in the town, never carried a suitcase, made sure we had activities we wanted each day. Breakfast was very good and the room was super stylish, clean, quiet and comfortable. Location was great and they made sure we had a parking space which cold not be said about other accommodations around Croatia.

The hospitality was 10 stars! Beautiful hotel in the heart of Old Town Split. HUGE room and all the comforts you want when vacationing. Perfect location close to restaurants, coffee, farmers market, the Adriatic Sea, & street fair/market. Canā€™t say enough good things about the hotel & Split. HIGHLY recommend!
