Great Vietnamese food (I can’t really compare but I thoroughly enjoyed my pork salad and it was tasty), the meals were large servings, the vegetables were fresh and crisp, their baguette was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside, their Vietnamese coffee was perfect, the venue was spacious and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Definitely worth recommending! I can’t wait to try the clay pot and Bahn Mi on my next visit!!!

Love the bahn mi here. Probably some of the best in Brisbane. Rolls are crispy & fillings accompanied with plenty of chilli. Mention if you need more but believe me when I say their chillies are hot hot hot!!There are tables inside & out & there's room for dogs. Coffee is Toby's Estate & has good flavour

This is the best place to have Vietnamese Banh mi in Brisbane I also recommend to try Vietnamese coffee that is made with condensed milk ( too sweet for me though) But the reason that I’m giving them 4 starts instead of 5 is ……. My mug was dented and dirty! It has a little bit of lemon pulp left in it!!!! Otherwise it’s a good place to have Vietnamese food

The best Vietnamese cafe experience in Brisbane. Never fails to impress, great coffee and licenced so you can have a beer with you're lunch. The food is fresh, simple, colorful and caters for all diets. CONSISTENCY ALWAYS. Quality service, super fast, efficient table service. I do make a reservation as the line can be out the door at lunch time which is further proof of the popularity and fame that this venue recieves from locals and regular worshippers. Did I mention it's appalling cheap? A Vietnamese coffee and a paw paw salad with prawns and tofu didn't even exceed $20! My go to cafe for a pamper day on my own or a 'business meeting!"😉

We dined at 8:00am on a Sunday morning. The cafe was about half full. We were greeted and seated immediately. The decor was honest - comfortable and diverse - with places to sit inside, in an undercover area and out the front near the street. The menu was varied, with the drinks and meals having strong links to Vietnamese cuisine, or what you’d expect from a more traditional cafe, with a Vietnamese twist. The noodle dishes looked to be excellent, but we went with more traditional fare. My signature breakfast included eggs, bacon, pork sausages and mushrooms, with bok choy and sweet potato cakes. The relish was exceptional. The staff were very professional and personal. The food was delicious and it arrived promptly. The serving sizes were generous and the price represented excellent value.

I went here for a business meeting on a stupidly hot QLD morning not really knowing much about the venue. I was pleasantly surprised initially about how cool the outside and inside of the restaurant was. A distinctly modern urban street feel and air-conditioned! The staff ranged from being quite young through to obviously more experienced kitchen staff. They were all friendly, helpful, and unobtrusive which I love for a business meeting. The menu is unashamedly Vietnamese as is the restaurant. I did not know this before I got here (I really wasn’t paying attention). The range of food to choose from was just amazing, and all the dishes coming out looked sensational. Both of the selections we ordered were on point 👌🏼. My business contact commented that she had been for dinner and loved the restaurant. The only slight downer was that the venue didn’t take AMEX, but other than that, it was such a great experience. I will be back and I’d highly recommend this venue to anyone.

My friends and I decided we would start the New Year's first meal at this place after reading all the reviews and I just hope my year is better than the food that was offered. The Vietnamese omelette was tasteless and the Claypot with Sausage was just filled with tomatoes. Chicken spring roll and Orange juice were nice hence the 2 stars. The presentation was very homely and the service was okay. Would like to return for the Pho and Banh Mi since that seem to be their area of expertise and if any good will definitely update the review.

Overhyped and average at best. The beef pho soup is bland. Seems like they also cheaped out and used dry noodles instead of fresh which is disappointing for the price you pay.

Best Banh Mi to have ever graced my mouth. This place is a must try and is highly recommended 👌 The staff are really friendly and the food is very affordable and extremely tasty. You won't be disappointed by this family owned business.

Unique, good value and good food. Would recommend. Spacious. A feel and seating to the rustic side, not a huge variety across the space and not overly cosy or ergonomic either. In saying all this it doesn’t dismiss the space as a good place to linger and read or chat. Importantly, it doesn’t lack authenticity, and in warmer weather the outdoor area would be more functional. Coffee was good, I wanted another. Pork meatballs in rich tomato sauce w/ quail eggs and a warm baguette. Retrospectively a heavy breakfast choice, but enjoyed. Balanced flavour in the meatballs, especially from the pork. The baguette… Vietnamese baguette, was soft and well suited to soaking up the sauce. The quail eggs inside added another different texture and surprising amount of flavour. Good value for money. The house made Vietnamese lemongrass pork sausage baked eggs deserve a return visit, impressive presentation and very appreciable balance flavours throughout the dish.

Workflow needs to be fine tuned.....a lot of people waiting for takeaway too long. Either not enough staff or staff not working efficiently. The bahn mi beef roll is very generous with filling.....l couldn't taste the special butter that traditionally comes with this . I'll try eating in next time ......see what the table service is like. Also after paying and being told to wait outside......it would be courteous to mention where to wait. It's a very long frontage and it took a while for me to work out where l should wait. Good manners and courtesy always go hand in hand with a good business.

The food was absolutely delicious! Big portion sizes too. Always extremely busy, and understandably there’s a wait time with that. Definitely couldn’t come quickly in my lunch break. To their credit, by the time we’d paid and were leaving they’d already cleared and had the next people seated so the turnover time is quite quick. My only negative is the person serving’s English wasn’t very good so they didn’t seem to understand when I was checking for my allergies. I had also asked for extra Asian greens, which I saw her write down but wasn’t included (was not charged for it either though). Free street parking available however the area is quite busy so it’s hard to find a spot.

The portion sizes here are HUGE! I had a Vietnamese iced coffee and the rice vermicelli salad with "a bit of everything" and it was great! Everything tasted super fresh, and it came out really quickly, considering how busy it was (especially the coffee).

Fantastic rich, yet refreshing broth. Ordered the large combination pho, and a lychee mint frappe. Pho is the best in Brisbane, not too salty, sour or sweet - unlike many other restaurants, this place gets it just right. Lychee mint frappe was super refreshing and made with real ingredients. I come here every time I come back to Brisbane.

I'm thrilled to share our repeated fantastic experiences at Cafe O-mai. Each visit, our brunch has been a scrumptious delight! The staff's swift service consistently leave a positive impression. The prompt arrival of both food and drinks, coupled with the hearty portions, never cease to impress us. Our choices, including the Vietnamese iced coffee and whole coconut, exceeded expectations. The crackling pork's tender texture and delectable crackling were standouts. The omelette bahn mi with chili provided a perfect balance of flavors, and we couldn't get enough of the chicken pho and rice noodle salad bowl with grilled lemongrass pork. However, it's worth noting that the cafe can get quite busy, leading to occasional noise levels. To fully relish your experience, we recommend booking ahead, especially during peak hours. Despite this, our enthusiasm remains undeterred, as we eagerly await our next visit. Without a doubt, we wholeheartedly recommend Cafe O-mai for an exceptional dining venture that consistently hits the mark!

Really cool Vietnamese cafe with brekkie/brunch options that you won’t find in too many places around Brisbane. Tasty food and Toby’s Estate coffee (always very welcome!) Can get very busy, but service is always pretty quick. Be sure to get the clay pot - not pictured this time around- so tasty!

The food here was great, thumb up here. Friendly service, the price was fair, the food tasted right on, and fast. The iced coffee was delicious, must say it was the first time I had drip coffee. The best was being able to have my dog baby with me. Parking was easy and free. I would go back, it's just the kind of comfort food for me.

TLDR; Good, don't mind another visit to catch-up with friends and try out other interesting menu items. Bang for bucks from food volume perspective. It's my first visit to this Vietnamese cafe bar with a hint of fusion style menu (yes, curious over the high number of reviews); hence not the usual traditional Vietnamese restaurant for my great o'l Pho fix. Came here impromptu from South for a Sunday morning brunch, it's a high traffic cafe, constant flow of customers sitting in or ordering take out. There's a line outside, with little wait time to get seated, again parking (at the back) is slightly challenging but not impossible. Staff are attentive. Interesting menu items with good coffee. Ordered a simple omelette rice, aunty five's claypot w/ sausage , lychee mint frappe, Vietnamese afrogato. Overall good taste and felt like a full lunch afterward. It's it of the way, but may visit again with friends to hang out and try out other interesting menu items.

Love the Vietnamese/Cafe fusion. Their options for Banh Mi are plentiful, although I opted for traditional... and it hit the mark perfectly. Service was a little slow on the day, otherwise would give five stars. Will definitely be back for more.

Went here for lunch on a Sunday at 12:15pm. Rang for a booking beforehand but was told to just turn up. When we arrived we had a 30 minute wait to be seated whereas other people who had booked went straight in - go figure - this is why I wanted a booking. I’ll be insisting on a booking next time. We were seated outside on a verandah but inside had a/c and would have been more comfortable. Staff were very pleasant and service was prompt. One of our meals arrived quickly but the other one was very slow to arrive for whatever reason. The meals were outstanding- plentiful, delicious and affordable. We will be back again to try out other menu items.

Busy place with a long lunch queue outside, we had to leave after 1.5hours for new customers 😂. The interior was colourful, well-lit and very noisy. The beef pho had a delicious broth and was not too salty or hot. The pork and tiger prawn rolls were crunchy and the salad was very fresh. It was overall a great first impression and I'd like to go back for more dishes.

Pho - ingredients of soup and meat is good quality. But, the rice noodle so bad & broken. They should use fresh rice noodle instead...

Rustic Vietnamese and Vietnamese fusion cafe with great staples and new things to try. The cafe itself is setup in a unique way, with almost an underground, jungle aesthetic and adds an extra layer of experience to the fresh food they serve. Table service is provided and staff are friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable. Definitely an atmosphere of old meeting new, which is fitting for the area of Annerley. Will definitely be back to scourer the menu and would highly recommend Cafe O-Mai for breakfast and/or lunch.

The food was brilliant. We had the combination pho, clay pot meal with the coffe afogato. The Claypot meal was delicious but the beef in the pho was a bit overcooked, I feel. Overall, it's a nice place and will definitely come back.

This is one of my favourite cafes for great authentic Vietnamese food. The staff are great and very attentive. I had the crackling pork for a starter and a bo koh.All very nice but the pork was not crackled enough.I also had a very nice Vietnamese beer.

Tried this place because of the hype from work colleagues. Place was packed. We ordered a combination pho, crackling pork banh-mi and chicken spring rolls. They ran out of beef broth so had chicken broth for combination pho. Didn’t really taste that great to be honest, lacked flavour. The crackling pork banh-mi barely had any crackling in it, i have had better elsewhere. And the chicken spring roll was different but good.

What a fantastic place! Really really really good coffee. Awesome food and atmosphere. The owner is super friendly but also you can tell she is ONTO IT. Definitely recommend it. Update: I have been back four times now. This is definitely my go to place in Brisbane. The chicken pho was SO GOOD. Love this place and normally I don’t like anything … 😂

Came here to try due to the rave reviews. Honestly, abit disappointed on out first visit. The beef pho soup was pretty good but was let down by not using fresh rice noodles. There was plenty of the beef though which was great. We also had the Bo kho which was very watery to what we've been use to. Flavour was ok and baguette that accompanied was very good - large and crispy. Other than the food service was very good. It was busy on a Sunday with people waiting outside.

Authentic tasting Vietnamese food and good service - gets fairly busy around peak hours. Even though they lost our order, they made sure to get the food out to us ASAP. The only reason I’m voting 4 stars is because one of the staff members (blue hair) was fairly rude... Everyone else and everything else was lovely though. Highly recommend the Bun Bo Hue (spicy beef noodles).

Always busy, and for good reason - they turn out great Vietnamese food. Restaurant is rustic, Ruth no aircon and basic furniture that may be reminiscent of what you used at school, if you're x-gen or older. Tamarind chicken banh mee are a staple for me when I visit here, but I typically do take away to bypass the line of people waiting to get in.

  • 4/5 SARAH 3 years ago on Google
The food is average. The hype made the expectations very high if their wasn’t so much hype on this place this place would be a decent Vietnamese food option. If you need a quick Vietnamese option and this is your closest place. You won’t be disappointed.

  • 3/5 Dave P. 3 years ago on Google
The food and service was excellent but I've downgraded because the meal was overrun with flies, to sum up they have to try and get rid of the flies its a killer, as the old saying goes "food must be ok as 5 thousand flies can't be wrong". Cafe was homely and protensius and good value but spoilt by all the uninvited guests. I think all the flies in Queensland were at our table, we did complain and were moved to another table but didn't make any difference. Get rid of flies and I'll give 5 stars.
