Suva's iconic Botanical Garden - or what's left of it really. This used to be a beautiful place for picnicking, dates or just strolling through and enjoying the local flora of Fiji, they had some really exotic trees and plants that seem to have disappeared over the years. I can only hope that the Suva City Council and the local government and authorities realize the real potential of Thurston Gardens and use it as the asset it is!

I did expect more flowers and blooms although all the green lush trees were very beautiful. My expectations were too high I guess. My imagination filled in the gaps

Thurston botanical garden is finally reliving its former glory under the new group of dedicated workers. It's a great place if your looking for a quiet place to read, share a meal or just a sunday walk. Be sure to visit the Na Koro market on Sundays. A great place for the whole family

Located in Thurston Gardens and directly adjacent to the Fiji Museum, together with the clock tower, this historical bandstand was constructed in 1918 in memory of G.J. Marks, the first mayor of Suva. It's a pleasant place to sit and relax on a hot day.

A nice garden although not huge by Hyde or Central Park standards!! It can be muddy and some mosquitos so if that isn't to your liking then stick to the paths and spray with insect repellent. I wouldn't go after dark, but during the day is lovely.

Lovely little walk around Thurston Gardens. It's full of plants and tree with plenty of places to sit and relax. Make sure you look up at the trees as there are some Bats hanging from them
