You don't need to be a vegan to enjoy these delicious vegan pies. They can be served by themselves or with mash, peas and gravy or a salad. The lads that run the place are super friendly and had some sweet tunes playing. They also have a selection of sweet treats that looked amazing.

I like pies like I like my life, without virtue signalling and profanity. Went to pop in to grab some pies for our team lunch for Melbourne Cup only to be greeted by this profanity. Perhaps stick to the pies as I won’t be sticking with you.

Consistently good. I'm not vegan or even vegetarian but I like that they are true to their ideas and practice what they preach, which is something I admire. The pies taste really good and are affordable. I love the Tuscan mushroom pie but they sell out quickly!

Didn’t have many expectations when I tried this place initially but it’s become a go to when I want something quick! The pies are all vegan and can come with mash and peas, the gravy is phenomenal and there’s heaps of interesting flavours to try

Finally, vegan pies!! Somehow the pie crust is flaky and buttery and they have so many creative fillings. Really enjoyed the Moroccan Tagine. And the best part is they have frozen pies so you can take some home for later. The chocolate chip cookies are a must try, massive, chewy, buttery yet magically vegan. Lovey little spot at an affordable price.

Cosy and funky pies with a modern and welcoming twist. Plenty of flavours to pick from - Asian to your traditional pasties style pies. A more minimal, clean and fresh look would make it a five star pie shop, in the mean time I am sure it would be much loved by the Bondi crowd.

Wonderful pies & wonderful people! It’s worth the time to seek out this vegan gem on Glenayr Avenue. Delicious pie fillings with tasty pastry, refreshing fruit smoothies and naughty but definitely nice sweet treats! You won’t be disappointed.

Absolutely terrific vegan pies in a relaxed atmosphere. Pies, mashed potatoes, gravy and peas - all were very tasty. Service was friendly and they offered plenty of chilled water on a hot day. You should give this a try for an unusual plant-based meal just a few minutes walk from Bondi Beach.

So Funkin' good. We were in Sydney for two nights. Went here the first day after checking into our apartment, and then came back each morning after. All the pies are delicious. The brownie and caramel slice were good too. Nothing is expensive, in fact I'd say its all surprisingly cheap. The mash and gravy and peas are tasty. They also have a decent selection of other vegan products including vegan cheeses and meats for sale in their retail section. Nice stafff! Just great.

The pie was average, not the most flavoursome AND no reason for any pie to cost $6.95. Also, please refer to photos. The side of pea & mash costs more than the pie itself. What is going on? C'mon..

Funky Pies is my favorite casual eats in Bondi BY FAR. I'm not even vegan! The classic Funky Chunky is the best IMO, but Butterish Chicken is a close second. Also, basically all the others are really good too, just depends what you like.

Funky Pies are amazing! This fantastic business in Bondi is producing great vegan pies that any pie lover could appreciate! We love the ‘Funky Chunky’ with peas, mash and gravy. I highly recommend Funky Pies for one and all!

I'm visiting from the US, and was intentional about visiting Funky Pies after doing a Google search on vegan restaurants in Sydney. Funky Pies is AMAAAAZING! The energy is great, the owner and her team are outstanding, and the pies are delicious! I never had Kombucha before, but the owner recommend the Lemon Myrtle one... soooo good. I would recommend Funky Pies to any Ausie native or visitor. You won't regret it. I promise!

Funky Pies not only have great pies, but also excel on vegan pastries and sweets! As I have a sweet tooth I’d recommend their brownie and cheesecake. I recently was looking for a place to have coffee around 5pm and they were the only open cafe serving until late 🙏🙌 I had a small cappuccino with oat milk to take away to the beach. Then I realized I should’ve buy a large size... it was delicious 🤤 This shop is vegetarian-vegan based, with many great options. Definitely my favorite place in the Bondi area

I love Funky Pies! So awesome to have an all vegan cafe like this, it's hard to find vegan pastries and especially ones as delicious as these. I hadn't had a really good pie since becoming vegan so I'm happy to have found Funky Pies. They also sell vegan food in the fridge and have smoothies/desserts as well. Highly recommend!

This place is an absolute Bondi gem! If you haven’t been you’re seriously missing out. Best pies you’ll ever eat. And I’m from England - pie country! Mash and gravy are absolutely scrumptious too. So happy to have this place on my doorstep. And everything is cruelty free so you can eat with a clear conscience! Must try the delicious desserts too! LOVE this place! ❤️

Funky pies is one of my favourite vegan food hang outs. Delicious and great options for pies as well as treats and drinks. They also have full fridges of vegan food you can take home. All round good food and good vibes.

Got a chunky pie with mash, gravy and peas. The pie filling was kind of average but the pastry was fantastic oh mannnn so flaky and delicious. Same goes with the mash peas and gravy they were divine. I thought it was only going to be $12 for the combo but it was actually $17.90 which is a bit more exy but my own mistake for looking online at the old menu prices. The staff were super nice and friendly :) Definitely wanna give some of the other flavours a try though

These are without doubt the best vegan pies I've ever had. The pastry is golden and flaky, the contents are delicious. The staff are really lovely too. Love that they take a stand on animal rights issues too. Thank you Funky Pies!

The pie with potato, gravy and peas is a great hearty meal. A bit overpriced though coming in at $18. I like to buy this and take it down to Bondi Beach to eat, which is only a short 7 minute walk away. Great selection of vegan savoury pastries. The pastry is nice and flaky on each pie I've had.

I was excited to try funky pies on my travel to sydney and was a bit disappointed by my experience. I ordered the funky chunky pie. However it was not what I expected. It had highly processed mushroom flavoured soy chunks in a very saucey gravy. I would not have ordered that if I had known that there wasn't any real shitake mushroom in the pie. deceptive advertising. Pastry was delicious though and service was lovely. Eco friendly packaging is a plus. You are doing good for the animals however start focusing on human health and allergen concerns!!!!

Best vegan pies I’ve ever had! They serve a range of vegan pies, it was difficult to choose from. We also grabbed the vegan Funky Monkey smoothie and it was a very generous serving. We felt super satisfied and left feeling warm and well looked after. Lovely customer service too. We’ll definitely be coming back whenever we’re in Bondi.

Lovely owner and staff who have created a great vibe, you’re always welcomed with a smile and you can feel how much they care. I was staying nearby and tried all the coffee shops and the coffee here was the best! They celebrated their 15 year anniversary yesterday - it’s no surprise considering the quality and service. Well done. Love businesses like this - if only they could expand into London! Thank you.

Great taste but had stands of hair in the Pie.. bit of a put off..!

  • 3/5 Macrina 3 years ago on Google
Good, filling portions/serving sizes but most of the popular pies that actually taste good are sold out and the staff seemed overworked, rude and irritable.

  • 5/5 John H. 3 years ago on Google
This place is iconic and for a good reason. Their pies are all vegan friendly but the flavour is arguably their main selling point. The food is rich, hearty, and full of flavour and would satisfy even the biggest meat addicts.

  • 2/5 Jason C. 3 years ago on Google
Ok.. a plus they are vegan. Had to eat both my mates pie and mine cause they didn't bother to tell or even label which pie was gluten free. Pies were average - not sure what the fuss is about. I'll pass on this one.

Had a nice meal, quickly served. Had the thai pie, it was good but in my opinion lacked of flavour. I'll come back to the place to try another pie as I'm sure there is better than this one.

  • 5/5 Dori S. 5 years ago on Google
Delicious, vegan, tons of options! Just wish there were a few more mushroom-less options, and that there was more of the same "chick'n" protein in each pie! Still, would go back for the chick'n broccoli cheez pie!!

Absolutely delicious vegan pies. We had the recommended funky pie and faux lamb one and they worth both delicious. The mash, gravy and peas were also a great addition and the salad was tasty too. Wish there were more funky pies as if I ever had a pie craving I’d want to have one of these. Will be back for sure.

THE BEST vego pies. Great option to buy them frozen too. Highly recommend the takeaway option with the mash, peas and vego gravy (droooool) Get in early though as they usually sold out of hot pies by 7pm-ish.

  • 5/5 Win T. 4 years ago on Google
Amazingly good pies. Drove all the way from strathfield to try the pies from here. Very flakey pastry kind melts in the mouth. Fully Vegan pies with meaty textures. Loved the fresh ingredients they put into it and the mash potatoes with pea are excellent. Suitable for non vegans too as an intro to vegan diets. Care is taken to ensure quailty of the pies are done on the spot.

First of all, wow! Just amazing! When I walked in, I was greeted with such warmth and kindness from Saija from Finland. She was knowledgeable about all the 100% vegan products that they had. I was super impressed with her recommendations. I tried the Funky Chunky with the shiitake mushrooms and every bite was flakey and savory. The mashed potatoes and gravy were phenomenal and paired well with this pie. I was so hungry I tried another pie, Saija’s personal favorite, the Eezy Chic’N Cheezy. I was in cheezy heaven. Then for dessert; the caramel bar that’s made in house was pure decadence and the espresso milkshake amazing. This place was so good, they need to come to the USA, where I’m from, particularly Chicago. The model of a true Aussie pie should be represented by Funky Pies. In love with this restaurant.
