We've been here a couple of times before but only for a take-away. This was the first time sitting down for a meal and everyone in our group were all very disappointed. We reserved a table outside and were sat down by one of the staff. While waiting for the rest of the group for 10 minutes, no one came to check on us but one of the staff came asking if the table actually belonged to us. She took our name to cross check but didn't come back to see if we needed a coffee or anything. It's ridiculous that the only customer service she offered was an accusation. Even after our mates arrived, no one came around to take order so we had to go in and line up to order. Then, there's the food. Extremely overpriced and significantly underwhelming. I had the eggs on toast and the picture shows the presentation. Small portioned, overcooked eggs and an abysmal effort in at least making it look good. I hate myself for paying $14 for this. You guys had something good going on before, however, this was an extremely disappointing experience.

Their food is beautiful! I loved the amount of vegan options and will def be back to try the pumpkin pasta e tofu burger! Staff was very friendly even on a busy day which shows their professionalism. Good coffee, good food, good ambience, my new favourite!

Lovely space, friendly staff and tasty food. Been visiting for a year or so now and have been consistently happy. Today's Persian Rice Pilaf went down very nicely. The brownie cookies gets me every time. The only "negative" comment is the menu could use a periodic refresh.

Coffee was well brewed, however personally not a huge fan of the beans. The taco flavours were tasty but the shell was hard to chew. Again, the summer seafood spaghetti flavours were there however feel like they should have used thinner pasta like linguine. Generally unsure about the identity of this place - French inspired cafe name, however is not reflected in the menu or interiors.

Went for brunch with a friend on a Sunday morning. It was super busy and seemed quite short staffed. Coffee was nice but took a while to come out. Food was mediocre, my friend had the pork stew which he enjoyed. I had their 'brekky burger', which read like a souped-up bacon and egg roll; what came out was just a basic B&E. Nothing too special, but it also wasn't horrible. Got takeaway coffee at the end which took about 15 minutes, which seems to match up with some other reviews for takeaway coffee, too. Overall, not a shocking place to go, and their lunch menu items do look nice, but it's unlikely I'd be going back there again.

Really great menu, including plenty of vegan items if that’s your thing. The bacon is worth having on its own. Staff are pretty friendly and service is good. They make their own baked goods. Serving sizes are pretty generous. Well the avo toast is. One of my favourites in Marrickville.

Amazing delish food loved the falafel bowl! So much flavour and everything worked so well. Great service and large space people with laptops working as it’s a nice place to spend time.

Had a mixed experience. Nice looking cafe, spacious, has sheltered coverage outside if you bring your dog. Coffee is a more fruity & light blend. Ordered pancakes which unfortunately were not fully cooked, still googy in the middle so couldn’t I finish those, & the toast arrived cold :-(. I did mention this when paying, which they apologised for but that was all. Still had to paid full price, no compensation for the pancakes. would have been nice as a good will gesture. Anyway overall their menu looks amazing, try for yourself.

Always reliable - the decor is awesome and so is the food, it’s also progressive. I’ve never had a bad experience here - the rice pudding is amazing, but this time around I had the Reuben!

📍Matinee Coffee Marrickville Today was the Easter weekend it was busy! The best time to visit Matinee would be for brunch or for your morning coffee. There is street parking 🚗 but I don’t know how busy it gets during the week. I would recommend catching public transport in, as I saw buses close by. 🚌 They have both dine in and take out option, I saw that it was busy outside. I ordered myself a large latte with a breakfast burger 🍔 and my partner ordered the chicken karage burger with the biscoff shake the prices are high due to the location and prices for ingredients. Highly recommended for a breakfast sit down, also the biscoff shake 🍹was amazing 😋 Overall experience is 8/10

Have been looking at this cafe for quite some time. I think they are quite popular with their coffee and I like how they are hidden at this corner out of no where. Environment 5/5 Love this hidden gem along a small street. Inside is full and we took a seat outside. Although is summer, it is quite chilled outside with shade and windy. Service 4/5 Quite good in overall, we were attended as soon as we arrived. Just that the seat we took is behind a wall that was blocked and we couldn’t get help from the service team. Cold brew/ ice latte 5/5 Nice coffee, no regret, I understand why they have the free flow coffee already! Bibimbowl 4/5 Interesting to see this on a cafe. It is weird to have the mashed avocado with bibimbab, but I think that’s a fusion, still acceptable. Breakfast burger with bacon + melted cheese 5/5 Have to give this a 5 for sure. What I can say is I will always come back for this! Scotch fillet sandwich 5/5 Very generous amount of steak, juicy and tender. Not sure if is because I’m too hungry, even the chips and mayo are sooooo good. Recommended dish - breakfast burger - cold brew - ice latte Will I come back again? 5/5 Yes for sure!

I had breakfast here last week and I can't complain, it was delicious! Coffee was great too! The coffee shop is beautiful, has plenty of seats and the staff seems very friendly :)

Nice bright and airy space. The matcha latte felt a little grassy for me but the chef sure knows how to make a good bacon and egg roll!

How great! Came here after looking for a brunch spot in Marrickville and was not left disappointed. The decor is beautiful and the staff were so lovely. We had the gnocchi hash, breakfast burger and maple waffles with a side of karaage chicken. Everything was beautifully cooked and you can tell a lot of love and thought has been put into the menu. The waffles and karaage chicken were such a lovely pairing and the butter/syrup combo were killer. Sparkling is on tap which I’m an absolute fan of. I would definitely recommend coming here for brunch - imo the gnocchi hash is a must order. Will definitely be back!

Love the vibe of this cafe, interesting/tasty food. Coffee is a little bitter for my taste (but I like pretty mild coffee..!) We had the gnocchi hash and buckwheat trifle - both really yummy and different.

Came in here yesterday for lunch and the prawn and salmon pasta was delicious. Compliments to the chef. Had a real nice kick to it too but the chilli wasn’t overpowering. Beautifully balanced seasoning all round. Would recommend.

The breakfast roll is delicious but the bacon is cut far too thick, is difficult to eat in a roll/sandwich format, and the thick texture is incredibly off putting in your mouth. For $16 I would have expected better. I picked all the bacon out. Do not recommend.

Great space, food was good. Had to wait a little bit but it went quickly. Staff looked a bit stressed but were super friendly. We got sat near the kitchen which is always a bit distracting but other than that it was great. Food ok, some twists and different options and coffee was delicious.

Great place - the best café In Marrickville! Extensive menu, good portions, excellent coffee. Very well run, with a great floor manager and friendly staff. We’ll be back for sure

A beautiful venue with lovely staff and great decor. Despite this, a menu revisit is desperately needed. The flavours are too much of a mishmash (avocado toast and pancakes topping) or just completely lacking (mushroom toastie). I haven't tried the non vegan options but I wish more consideration was put on the above. Would love to go back for meals rather than just coffee.

The cafe takes bookings which I love. Food was great and turn around time was fine considering how busy it was. Service was very good and accommodating to our guests requests Only negative was a bit pricey compared to other cafes in inner west. Also the coffee was weak despite being a double shot

This place had a great ‘Diner’ vibe and was a pretty big cafe as well. Menu was good and limited. Only a few breakfast options but it is an all day menu. Coffee was great. Service was a little on the slow side however our meals came out and tasted great. We also ordered the popcorn chicken but what came out was a schnitty cut up on a plate. Though the flavour was good, it definitely was not what we expected.

This place has been on my to go list for some time, and I finally made it — a nice looking local cafe with warm and welcoming staff adding value to the delicious coffee and tasty meal.

The brekky burger with salmon was very dry and salty. I think if the salmon was cooked better it would've made a big difference. Coffee is strong. Served sparkling water, service was okay.

Great food, great ambience. We really love the sandwiches. But, it is unacceptable waiting time. We waited 45 minutes for our food to come. And it is only 2 sandwiches that we ordered!

2x Sparkling water 2x Pots of tea 1x Cookie sandwich with peanut butter cream.... <$20 🤯 Intially I thought ugh venue too big with awkward seating and not my cuppa tea. I gladly eat my words except awkward seating. Pot of tea was delish with the handleless cups. Going back for more. Staff were also in my opinion top notch. Perfect mix of 'can I help' to 'I'll leave you too it'

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
