If you’re thinking of visiting with babies you may want to reconsider. Coffee is good but the staff could do better. I visited today with 7 other mums and bubs from the area. We all have babies under 4 months and we’re still trying to navigate how to be social with such small humans in our care. Many of us are sleep deprived, all of us are doing our best. Some notes for the servers who cleared our table and thought we had all left (we hadn’t!); 1. It’s advisable to get a take away cup when your baby is thrashing around in your arms while you try to rock them to sleep. As much as I’d just love to drink out of a real cup I’d also rather avoid a trip to A&E. 2. We are sorry we moved the chairs around, prams are big and bulky. We had every intention to sit on those chairs but alas that was not what our babies allowed. Trust me when I tell you I’d rather sit than stand and rock an 8kg lump. 3. Baby brain is a real thing. You can read about it online. If you’re going to use it as a disparaging remark please be informed it doesn’t cause deafness and we can hear you! So disappointing. Please be kind to new mums, we’re doing our best. What’s your excuse?

I’ve been here a handful of times now to just grab a coffee before going to the park/swim and always get bad vibes. They come across quite hostile like they really don’t want me to be there. I kept on telling myself it was just a one off or it was all in my head but it keeps on happening. Yesterday was the last straw for me and I won’t be going back. I walked in, it was almost entirely empty, no line and two people behind the counter. One of them glanced up so I smiled and walked up to the till to order but she immediately just turns around and starts to talk to the other person working. Then proceeds to do something else that doesn’t seem particularly urgent. It’s a bit weird but I decided to just wait. An awkward amount of time passes and they are still yet to acknowledge I exist. They have both definitely seen me. I am standing right there in front of them. But for some reason they don’t seem to want to serve me. I wait some more. Still nothing. No eye contact, no “one moment please”, no slight nod of acknowledgment, nothing. I haven’t felt so uncomfortable and invisible and unwelcome in a very long time. In the end I just felt so unwelcome I just turned around and left without ordering anything. They didn’t acknowledge me leaving either. Maybe they really just can’t read the room and are this bad at customer service? Although having read the other reviews this doesn’t seem the case. Maybe it’s unconscious bias? Maybe it’s something more. I don’t know but it’s happened too many times here and nowhere else that I know it’s not just in my head and will be avoiding them from now on. You might find it’s fine if you’re an ordinary white person.

Breakfast was very nice. Lots to choose from, all the regulars, but the za'atar eggs were outstanding. Great coffee and fresh juices, sweet and savoury pastries made on the premises, busy but not crowded, plenty of outside tables, and lots of locals coming and going... Owner is a bona fide legend of Australian Music and a thoroughly charming host.

Popped in here for breakfast on referral from a friend and so glad we did Friendly, positive energy and just simply amazing. The eclectic, upcycled appearance of this Cafe is incredible. Facing leafy Emnore Park it's a great place for a relaxed coffee and catch up with friends. Our food and drinks were all spot on, fresh and full of flavour and arrived at the table superfast. Thank you for a wonderful morning. If you're in the area this place is definitely worth a visit

A gorgeous cafe in Marrickville. They serve great coffee, breakfast and the staff are super nice and friendly. My French toast with bacon, banana and maple syrup was one of the best I have had in a long time. Good portion size and lots of syrup. Brought me back to the good old days in Canada :-) Would happily come here again. It’s also vegan friendly.

Delicious breakfast. French toast is excellent and come with HEAPS of fruit. The big breakfast is one of the best around too. Generous serves of everything and the bacon is super crispy, almost like a bacon chip. Service is excellent, everyone that works at Petty Cash is genuinely nice and friendly They also have plenty of vegan options.

I arrived just after 1:50 pm with my family. We’re local so walked. They close at 2:30, but told us it was too late to order food as the kitchen closes at 2pm. I was not yet 2pm, so they reluctantly said “be quick”. The table next to us insulted us in front of the staff, in the presence of my kids for expecting to order food at that time. They continued to mock remarks we made, in particular mimicking my voice while we decided on the menu. I suspect they were staff off duty as they had a report with the on duty staff who had no objection to their ongoing comments. It appeared to be permissible by the staff. Suffice to say the among the most unfriendly cafe experience I’ve ever had, even though I’ve been there many times before, so we left. Even as we walked away they mocked us for saying “we’re leaving” in front of staff who did nothing but laugh along. As a local, I’m appalled they exist in my area and hope that they remember they are part of a community and at least should behave in front of young children and appreciate that setting an example for the next generation is something we can all positively contribute to.

Petty Cash has character, soul, and great home-cooked food, including tasty and nourishing options for vegans, vegetarians, meat eaters, and others beyond or in between. It has one of the top five tea cozies that I have had the pleasure to see (Ernie from Sesame Street). The very lovely patrons bring with them many fabulous dogs. The street library out front is always worth checking out.

Real world charm and original soul. Down to earth management and staff. Really fantastic coffee from really nice crockery. Small selection of tasty bites made with love. Beautifully decorated with natural style. Always good music, never just some aweful commercial pop or something left to chance. And good prices!? Love your work guys!

Beautiful staff and cafe! Love coming here on the weekend for brunch with friends. Prices are fantastic for the size of food you get ($15-20) and the coffee is fantastic. They also have vegan dishes as well!

Scrummiest food in the inner west, great interior and very welcoming atmosphere!! Exceptional service especially from Olive she helped us find the perfect smoothies!

Cool, friendly local cafe nicely located next to the park. Has like a casual retro-punk-rock vibe. Prices were very reasonable which is great with how expensive things are these days but with that I found the food just a little less quality. Coffee was decent.

I love this little place. Perfectly located to get takeaway and sit in the sunny park or to bask in the sun in their small seated area. The chai is excellent, coffee is great, they always have fun vegan treats and the meals are tasty and comforting. The staff is also all really lovely!

I had an incredible experience today at Petty Cash. The staff showed me empathy, understanding and kindness and allowed space for my 3yo as I ordered. I wanted to run back to pick up my order but they came to me in the park opposite the street - absolutely unreal service. This makes a sleep deprived mother feel really grateful. The coffee and BLAT were delicious. Thank you so much for truely seeing me and going the extra mile on service.

Fabulous cafe with friendly staff and excellent portions. The smoothies are fantastic on a hot day, and the meals are super filling. Dog friendly, and right across the road from one of my favourite parks. You can go and eat under the trees if you like. I always love visiting this place.

I took my son to Petty Cash Cafe yesterday for breakfast. At first, we were sitting outside, the waiter was busy serving other people food so we waited. But after a good 10 min, still no one came to us. It was around 9 am and the cafe was not even half full. The waiter clearly sees us, but just simply ignored. Then I decided to carry my son inside to order the food, again the waiters just talk to each other, only one person at the counter dealing with takeaway order. I was very annoyed already, so we left. No customer service at all, please don't use "retro vibe" to describe this type of ignorant service.

My friend suggested this place as they have the best vegan pies but they were all out of them! Which was sad but I was delightfully surprised with the delicious vegan cheeseburger and curly crispy sweet potato chips and with such friendly service! Highly recommend visit this cafe. Oh the cappuccino was soo really nice too

It's like going to your Nana's place in the best way 😍 decor is a mish mash of antique furniture, the crockery is unique and mismatched and there are little china figurines and collectibles everywhere. The staff are delightful, inclusive and best of all, it's dog friendly and right across the road from Enmore Park! Haven't had a chance to eat here yet (it's always busy because they're so great) but the coffee is some of the best in the area.

Fantastic! People are lovely and must be magical because I was tired and starving on arrival and forgot to tell them how I like my eggs and bacon on my bacon and egg roll. But when it arrived it was perfect! Coffee was great too, staff all seemed really happy. Not for you if you can't handle a bit of grunge - but everything was beautifully clean.

Love this place. Really nice vibe. I try to get to the kids' swimming lessons earlier just to get coffee across the road. Love their homemade cookies. Friendly team. My husband went with the kids the other week and had the crumpets and said they were the best crumpets he'd ever had. I'll have to go back for them!

👍 Best restaurant for South Indian dishes. Worth a try of Biryani. Tried Tandoori Soya today and it was the best I ever had here. Egg65 Biryani was so tasty. Crispy Baby corn was bad seemed like it was not fresh. You should not let your standards drop.
