This place has it all. It's more so on the bath house/spa side of things than the rustic onsen feel that you can experience in Okuhida onsengo. However, don't let that deter you. This spa is a blast from the past; it feels like time has been frozen in the 90s here in all the best ways. This is a true piece of japanese culture. Go here, take your time, try all the baths, the sauna, wash off, hit the relaxation area, have a meal, etc.. Just soak it all in. Literally and figuratively. Don't forget your chance of clothes, a big towel, and a small one. If you don't have towels, you can rent them. Go to this hot spring. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Very nice stuff, like everyone in Japan. Good onsen. Free shuttle from the station (Washington hotel). Everybody wants you to have a good stay, if you need something just ask for it with a smile.

Awful. It was the only thing available during the Takayama autumn festival so we had to stay here. We ended up sleeping of very thin futon on the floor. They did not provide sheets, nor did they even have sheets that you could rent. You are expected to sleep on the mattress liner, and I cannot imagine that they wash these very often. They give you a blanket that looks like something out of your grandmother’s closet. Had to rent a towels to sleep on. The staff does generally not speak good English. There was one woman that was helpful. Also, the shuttle bus to the hostel was not on time, it was early. So, if you do stay here (please don’t), I suggest that you get there 15-10 minutes early just in case.
