In early June 2014, when my wife and I were about to reach the hotel, a gentleman staff was already waiting outside to greet us, remarking in English that:"I've never seen guests coming here with a sports car!" From the traditional look and feel, you could not be mistaken that it is a classy Japanese style hotel. In addition to the excellent service, including pretty exclusive hotel shuttle to the morning market, you get very nice Japanese food and hot tubs, more or less for what you pay for!

We have just finished a two night stay here and thoroughly enjoyed it. Our son is a coeliac and they could not have been more helpful in preparing the most beautiful and wonderful gluten-free food for both breakfast and their amazing dinners - endless courses of beautiful gluten-free food and also Sukiyaki. I would say this is a must visit for any coeliac! Aside from that, the onsen, the rooms and generally Takayama were very good.

Fantastic experience. In particular, the food was extremely delicious (we always opted for japanese style) and the service is perfect (we had a 19y old, extremely charming attendant with whom we had a really awesome time).

Well maintained facilities and the decor is visually appealing. The hospitality from our caretaker was great; she even provided us a hand drawn visual guide to explain the type of foods. Food is delicious and they were very accommodating to our dietary restrictions as Muslims.

Impeccable service from the A to Z. We booked a room with private ofuro. The public bath is also very good. Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were excellent. Only small detail that could be improved: the water pumps in both the private and the public baths are noisy and detract somewhat to the peaceful experience of soaking in hot water.

Great accomodation. Stayed here for 2 nights as we travel around the area and within Takayama. Meals were of higest quality, service was excellent (Shiori was super helpful) and the rooms comfortable. Will definitely come again.

Amazing experience! Welcomed at the hotel with a welcome drink, you are guided through the building and your room by the person that will be helping you the rest of your stay. My wife was asked to choose her yukata. We enjoyed the hotspring and the traditional dishes with hida beef. Great quality of service room and generally speaking. The hotel has a bus that will bring you to the train station or to the morning market street.

A wonderful stay during a snowy Christmas. Hospitality was superb, and food was great. The private hot spring was so worth it!

We were warmly welcomed by staff as soon as we arrived by shuttle bus from Takayama Station. Each group of visitors were assigned a staff member to attend to us. Our hostess was Sara who was very attentive and pleasant. She made our stay memorable. Our Japanese style rooms were clean and we had the opportunity to wear yukata and toe socks. We had Japanese dinner and Japanese breakfast. Who knew that all the small servings would leave us so full! Check out was a breeze and again a staff member waved us off as our shuttle bus returned us to Takayama Station the next day. Would love to stay here again.

Had the best experience at Hidatei Hanaougi during my honeymoon. The staff are so friendly and fluent in English, so we felt comfortable. They even helped schedule a taxi for us at 6 am. The food and service was spectacular. Highly recommend!
