Very nice hotel, great food and the bath was excellent. The rooms were about average for Japan but did not have bathrooms, only public toilets. Showers were also not available but the public bath was very nice.

As a hostel, it is good. But my room air con had some smell, we cannot use it. Good enough for a short stay, a good experience, ha.

The onsen was really great the location is a bit out of the way but the shuttle will bring you right back to takayama station.

our stay was not bad! As other reviewers have mentioned this place is about 20-30 mins from the city centre by walking. It’s an easy enough walk to town, but can be a lot after a full day of sightseeing. When we arrived there was no mention about the robes in our room or where the baths were or anything at all. I actually discovered from these google reviews that the only showers were located in the bath! They really push for patrons to buy their breakfast ($960 yen)-‘this was the only thing mentioned to us upon arrival. If we hadn’t stayed at a ryokan before we would not have know what to do. For that reason and comparative to other places we have stayed at I have rated this place a little lower. we also noticed that they saved the rooms with the mountain views for the locals. We were placed in a room beside the thermal heater and could smell gas fumes during the hours the bath was open. The room itself was super clean, washrooms very clean and the breakfast was good! the owners don’t speak English but are very nice! I probably will not stay here again unless there are no other options closer to town. For tourists visiting Takayama I would suggest a place closer to town as it saves you time sightseeing especially if you plan on seeing some sights nearby Takayama that require some travel.

Very nice! All is there for a quite weekend. We walked from and too the city, it was ok. There are free shuttlebuses in the morning too bring you too the station/city centre. The onsen itself is small Android simple. A beautiful tub outside, and a hot bath inside. A view or beautiful garden is missing. That would make it a 5 star :)

Very clean rooms and facilities, the bath was extra nice. Staff was super friendly and breakfast was good. Location is great, less than 10 minutes from the Takayama Folk Village walking.

it's ok. not worth the money. I expected more. they didn't heat the hallways. so that mid night bathroom trip was not fun.

Good simple stay. Our rooms were cheap and we paid to have dinner/breakfast there. This is a good place to stay if you have a car as the walk to town is 25-30mins.

Great place the photos don't do it justice 😄 Others the photos are great but it doesn't live up to them but this is the opposite 😄 Overall great ryokan breakfast was alright, the only thing is that it's a little far from the town center where most of the resturanta are 😅

Beautiful place with amazing view of snowy mountains, delicious food and an outdoor Onsen for both men and women bathrooms. Not far from town considering the view and peace and quiet you get

A great place to relax! Definitely 5 stars and my recommendation. Yes, the hotel is a little far from the center, but it was not difficult for us to walk. With backpacks, we reached the station in 25 minutes. The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. We only took breakfast, but it was incredibly delicious. Onsen is very comfortable, we were always alone and often chose an outdoor bath. Everything is very clean and cozy. The room was spacious, and the yukata were green and very beautiful! The room had its own toilet and washbasin, which turned out to be very convenient, although public places are clean and comfortable too. The hotel has a coin laundry. I would like to stay for a longer period next time, because this is a real vacation among the mountains with wonderful food and onsen.

The place is very easy to find. Buses are accessible and if you want to roam around the town by foot, it’s just 25-30mins. It’s a typical ryokan that I think is a family owned. It’s extremely clean and the room is spacious with a yukata waiting to be worn. The indoor and outdoor onsen are amazing! After a long day, you can relax in it. The staff are very helpful and they make the best breakfast and dinner we have ever had in Japan. The rice they use as well is from Gifu. It’s fluffy, light and not too heavy on the tummy. If Im not mistaken, we paid around £130 for 2 nights, this includes breakfast. 2,500 yen per person for a dinner which was definitely worth it!!! The Hida Folk Village is just 6mins by walk. I highly recommend this place and I will come back again in the future! Takayama has my heart ❤️ Arigato gozaimasu!
