A house-museum, recently put into operation. Beautifully restored, it includes the painter's personal objects, works of painting, watercolor, drawing, mixed media, plans and meticulous projects made from the perspective of religious art. The contribution to the architecture of the building is also presented. Massive book and postcard collections donated to the state. Entry is free, no fee; the museographer is very nice, willing to address various topics related to the museum. Audio guide in several languages. Schedule 9:00 - 17:00. The location is on a charming street, near the center - you can park easily. I recommend a visit for culture, art or beauty lovers!

If you're in the area, stop by and admire... you won't regret it! Many thanks to Ms. Adriana for the explanations and stories provided. It is a location that contains a lot of history and a lot of guidance for those who are looking for it. The library has many copies of the art, sketches or works of other artists that were the source of inspiration for I. Keber. Art must be admired, and this is where the "journey" can begin... From the pictures below, can you guess where the year of construction is?

Due to the external aspect which is degraded, it is not very attractive, but we hope that it will be resolved after a while.

The museum is in the artist's villa. The presentation of the works, the availability of the people responsible for reception is remarkable. We were lucky enough to have an exceptional guided tour. I recommend this visit

It is the Art Section of the "Christian Tell" County Library. It was reopened to the public on 01.08.2022, after being restored with European funds, through the 2013-2020 ROP and from the budget of the Gorj County Council. On the ground floor is the library, which includes 20,000 documents (books, albums, magazines from all fields of art, etc.), and on the first floor is the "Iosif Keber" memorial collection, which includes objects used in professional and personal life by the artist. The house is a B-category architectural monument, built in 1932 according to the project of the Gorjean architect, of Austrian origin, Julius Doppelreiter, the one who ennobled Târgu Jiul of the interbellum period with his style of neo-Romanian inspiration. Iosif Keber was a Romanian visual artist who had a long artistic life and, although he is not known as much as his work, he worked on monumental paintings for churches in Romania, Germany, Israel, etc., along with numerous easel works, most of them exhibited at the Târgu Jiu Art Museum, but also in his own house, which has become a memorial house, with the function of a library, as was the wish of the artist, who donated it to the County library after his departure from us. The visiting schedule is from Monday to Thursday, between 13-16, but in the future it will have other visiting hours - 9-17, from Monday to Sunday.
