Santa Katarina

Restaurant Mediterranean restaurant

👍👍 Restaurant with elevated Mediterranean fare. Fish kebab dish was fresh and enjoyable to eat. A bit pricey but the ambience is nice (would recommend for fancy dates or formal outings for small groups). Overall enjoyed my meal and would come again. Tomer Agaai's Chef restaurant offers amazing Mediterranean cuisine elevated to a superior class without being all too brag about it. We met for a casual fun dinner and selected a list of starters, main courses and desert with some nice cocktails on the side. The food was superb, with special tastes and touches - offering high quality without the typical pretentious attitude chef restaurants typically comes with (and we loved it!). The Red Tuna tartare was special and the veal chops was a generous dish with 3 types of elements in one amazing dish (stuffed onions, special kebab and the veal of course). Don't miss the amazing, freshly baked Jerusalem Bagel with the dips on the side, and must try the whiskey sour (although it is not on the regular menu. As for the desert - we tried the Knaffe, which is a special treat and highly recommended.

Top Tel Aviv favorite for Mediterranean food and good drinks. They have good pizza and the minute steak sandwich is one of the best items on menu. The dishes are on the smaller side and great for sharing.

Our experience was delightful! The restaurant had a vibrant atmosphere, especially during the bustling Shabbat dinner. Sitting at the bar was fantastic as we got to witness the chefs skillfully plate and prepare the dishes. I would suggest opting for a table if you have more than three people, as our group of four found it challenging to socialize with each other. Overall, I highly recommend this place for dinner!

Nice little place. Food is superb, and even has a few vegan alternatives. A bit expensive and on the corner table which is located next to a sewer drain, it smells a little.

Charming location behind the great synagoge of Tel-Aviv. Romantic lights and arcs makes the atmosphere very special. The food served was really very very delicious. The oxtail Ravioli, the Arab ceviche... All was delicious. The service was super easy going and friendly. I will definitely come back! Extremely recommended!

Great great place. Nice variety of food, very tasty, fair prices. You'll need a reservation if you are coming in the standard dinner hours. We visited again after a few years, still the same great place, one of the best in the city, sit at the bar to see the open kitchen infront of you for an even more unique experience.

It is a typical Tel Avivian place, not many tourists visiting it. We tried almost everything from the menu and it all was great. Not a fancy place and not looking so impressive but good food and service was there. The paid parking lot in front made it so much easier.

If you read the previous reviews carefully, then you already notice the two central points: the great food and the volume of the noise. The latter is quite high, but it also depends a bit on when exactly you go to eat. As for the food, all I can say is: it's great. However, it is also true: the dishes are quite small. But if you are aware of all this and are ready to get involved, then you can look forward to great food: Arab ceviche, Jerusalem bread, Labneh ravioli or Kubenyie - all very tasty and of high quality. Yes, it's also true that the service can be a bit difficult at times, but that can be neglected.

We have a long lasting relationship with this place and it keeps getting better. Food is wonderful, service is great and the atmosphere is always good. The menu is never boring and we keep finding something that surprises us. Not cheap by any means (well, it’s TLV), but definitely worth it, every time.

I was hesitant to eat here, but happy I did. We went on a Saturday night, the ambiance wasn’t great but stayed anyways. I got the lamb and it was delicious. So much juice and flavor and in the top lamb I’ve ever had. It came with 3 pcs. 2 of them were great and the 3rd was not good at all - tasted almost frozen or just too over cooked. There was also this like meatball inside the dish which was divine. I would definitely return here and I recommend it.

Very trendy place, great food with perfect and unusual flavours. Staff is also amazing - very attention, polite and super Kind. I will always return to this restaurant because during each visit there is new menu and it feels like each time it’s better and better! Prices here are also very fair for what they offer regarding quality and service!

One of the most fun places in the city. The prices are good, but also every dish is tasty, very interesting and special. Literally Israeli modern cuisine. Shishbarak is a must!

Santa Katarina is led by Chef Tomer Agai. It specializes in casual local cuisine that uses interpretation of Mediterranean and Arab cuisines. The food was excellent, as was the service. The atmosphere is very young and trendy - it's clearly a hotspot in Tel Aviv. Eating non-Kosher food with the views of the great synagogue adds to the atmosphere. We ordered the Jerusalem bagel with tahini, an amazing calamari heads salad with tzatziki (lots of cilantro, arugula, and mint), a Shishbarak (kind of Arab ravioli, filled with ox tail), and a Fricsa (Frixa?) Sandwich (tuna, egg, pepper...) that was good, but not as good as the other dishes. We shared a delicious Knafe (Arab cheese dessert) for dessert. It's not cheap - we paid a little over 400 shekels with alcohol and sparkling water, but it was a special occasion and certainly worth it. We'll be back.

Excellent dinner and amazing staff! We sat at the bar and even during a busy service the chef managing the oven and our waitress were so engaging and warm, it made our dinner wonderful. The food here is innovative, smart and delicious and this is a whole other level of cooking and preparation! Busboosa cake is great! Thank you!!!!!

Most of the dishes we ordered were perfect or close to being perfect. Kubeniye was delicious. The crab Burik was perfect. The ox tail tortellini was also delicious. The problem was with the sweetbread skewer ("Shkedei Egel") - it was horrible. Chewy, gummy, inedible. The potato gratin it came with was extremely salty and also inedible. We had to return this dish. The pizza, which chef Tomer always brags about on tv, was mediocre. It wasn't fully baked, but even if it was, it still wasn't great. The cocktail was one of the best cocktails I had.

We used to go here a lot but the last two times were pretty disappointing. The menu is much smaller with way fewer options then it used to be. The food is mostly good (some more then others) but the level is definitely lower.

Went here on a special occasion. The food was fantastic. We sat on the bar which gave us the wonderful experience of watching it all being made. It was very balanced, well seasoned and thought of. The service was on the okay side for such a restaurant. Plates weren’t cleaned up on time and we were initially double charged for a bottle of wine that we wanted to order but they didn’t have.

Great food, really helpful staff and nice place to be. It was almost full when we went on a Sunday night, managed to get a seat at the bar which was fine, but worth booking ahead. The menu has a good range of modern Israeli dishes and the staff, who were cooking the food right in front of us, were only too pleased to explain the dishes to us. Had the salad and and bread to start, both of which were delicious with a really nice, slightly sweet dressing on the salad. Then had the beef and the lamb kebab, both were excellent, although the lamb was quite spicy. Well worth visit.

An awesome place in the heart of Tel Aviv, super vibrant and fun.

AVOID! We waited for our dishes more than an hour. At some point the manager came by and said that there was a delay and our food will arrive soon (no apologies/compensations. Nothing). We waited for 30 minutes more, had enough and just left without receiving our food. Horrible service. The food on the other tables looked nice but we didn't get to try any.

A great place for a chic yet spendy dinner or an elevated lunch. Mediterranean cuisine. The grilled vegetables were surprisingly good

Not a cheap, but really unusual restaurant. They have a whole variety of meals, which I don't believe you could find anywhere else - very unusual, sometimes almost crazy combinations. All the meals we ordered were really tasty. The service was great.

Superb food, great service. Brilliant bagel and Massabaha hummus. Rest of the menu changed each time we visited, and each time we were delighted with whatever we ordered.

Santa Katarina is a trendy little restaurant where you can sit on the leafy terrace with outdoor heating or indoors nearer the bar. It serves up Middle Eastern /European food and we had some amazing salads and more seafood. The Dhaka salad, with lettuce, feta, egg, tomato, cucumbers and herbs was beautiful. We also loved the tuna ceviche and fish balls in a lentil and potato sauce. Brilliant.

Unbelievable! We stumbled on to this place on a Friday night, luckily the had a table available as the food was AMAZING. You have to come here if you want first grade food for a reasonable price.

High quality dishes, though not too inventive. Dishes are also a bit small and quite expensive relative to their size. Service is efficient and quick.

Santa Katarina is a true culinary experience, the menu is small and precise, the food is exceptional. One of the better restaurants in Israel. We had Napoli Nablus Pizza, Arab Ceviche, Shisbark, and Kanafe for dessert, all dishes were amazing. Don't miss out on Santa Katarina.
