It was a very negative experience at this restaurant last Friday. Before getting to the food itself, I want to describe the unusual and somewhat bizarre approach that this business is taking. I will not complain about having seated for about 15 minutes without offering us a glass of water. That’s minor for me, something I cannot say on the eye catching disclaimer we spotted on the menu stating a no return policy of dishes. It said ‘not tasty is not an excuse’ (I would add ‘but a great reason not to return’). Strange that they needed to set such policy stating it on the menu. It must be a frequent response to their food but for transparency I would expect them to state it on their online menu and website too. We had the autumn vegetables, roasted malfuf, blue jack makarel tartar and the octopus on stew and butter crab stock. The tartar was OK. Fish was fresh, gently seasoned. Mild flavors, very low tone. On the more negative side the dish was tiny and the elegant white plate that it was served on was broken. The vegetables dish was a sad form of a salad made from refrigerated vegetables and some leaves that were not very fresh. It was the worst form of salad I’d paid for in recent years (Not forgetting Aroma). The malfuf which is a tasty Arabian cabbage was roasted and served on a lentil stew. There was nothing inspiring about this dark brown looking dish. There was some sort of added sweetness that felt artificial and blurred the taste of the overcooked vegetables. I’ve recently had one of my best malfuf dishes at the ‘brothers’ (ha’achim restaurant) and Brut’s version simply doesn’t cut. But the star of the evening was the 98 shekel octopus dish that was one of the most insulting plates I’ve seen in 25 years of culinary experiences. Six pieces, some weren’t recognizable as octopus arms, overcooked to a point were they weren’t chewable, with some burned pieces of lamb fat, laying on a bad of dark green / blackened paste that looked like it is made from the herbs of hell, or at least didn’t look like food that is supposed to go in, the opposite.. This piece of art was served in a small bowl that would typically hold pickles or an extra side of fries. We did taste it, and it was as bad as it looked. To summarize, I know that this restaurant is adventurous. I didn’t know that they have a no return policy for dishes. I knew it as soon as we sat down and read the menus but I had no other reservation on that Friday night. They also charged my card in advance for the reservation which didn’t really leave us a choice. Otherwise I would never go to a restaurant with such policy as a matter of principle. And don’t get me wrong, I almost never returned a dish before. But we couldn’t touch that Octopus and weren’t even asked for a replacement. But forget that, and the mediocre food, and the insulting plating, and the poor service. The worst part is that they don’t even care if you like the food or not. Forget about the money, they simply don’t give a s**t. They don’t want to hear any criticism and they scare away from any dialog with their customers. I think that this is part of their strategy, and hope that it will not last for much longer, since this is a wrong attitude when you run a restaurant.

STAY AWAY DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!! The worst restaurant I have ever been in Israel, and even in the whole world I’ve never felt more cheated to pay the bill. They have this strange. policy of not returning meals, which is very unusual to Israel. At first we told them don’t worry because we will never. We’ve never returned a meal in our life and then after the meals started coming out, we understood why we took the tasting menu and literally not even one meal was good. The waiter didn’t ask even once if everything is okay. The fish was not fresh and gave us food poisoning.

Update 2023: We had the extended set menu. The main thing I can say about our experience is that it was fun and interesting. The food was interesting, but many dishes lacked the super tasty kick. As for the fun, although service was messy, and we felt a bit rushed by the pace, the place is cozy, and cool, with a great wine menu. 2017: Nice little wine bar, with good food, and fairly priced

This is another case of a chef trying to make you feel he is smarter than you are by using arabic food names that you don't know and that he learned yesterday. So you keep asking the waiter "what is Maflook?". Frankly, it would all be forgiven if the food was great, but it isn't. Out of the three dishes we had only one (the sardines fusili) was truly great, another was OK and the third was really disappointing. Naturally, we wll not go back here.

Remembered a previous meal that was good we took another couple for dinner. We were offered with the Chef tasting menu. Big mistake! While highly priced even for Tel Aviv the dish sizes were shamefully small. Taste was reasonably good but the size of simply made us feeling cheated so we could not appreciate it. I rarely write reviews but this one was simply shameful.

Brut is one of the best restaurants in Israel. You won't find food like theirs anywhere else. Seasonality and locality are to main factors, but taste is the key element. UglyDelicious kind of a place Must haves: Calamari tridi Spine cord in brown butter

The place is fine. Nothing more. The food sounded amazing, but when served it felt as if it didn't justify the high prices! Also the wines, albeit unique, are extremely high prices, nothing that even in places that specializes in rare alcohols I have paid this much.. Other than that, the atmosphere is odd, it really turned me and my date down. Sadly I didn't get what I was expecting from all the raving reviews I have seen all over the Internet. It isn't bad, but it doesn't justify the prices really.

I’m strongly advise against visiting Brut restaurant in Tel Aviv. My recent visit there was a complete disappointment, and I regret wasting my time and money. The food was absolutely terrible, and we were extremely disappointed with our meal. We ordered several dishes, and beside of one dish, all of them were either bland or downright unappetizing. One dish even had sand in it and when we tried to return the dish with sand, the restaurant refused to take it back or offer a refund. We were shocked by this response, as any decent restaurant should be willing to correct a mistake like this. Overall, I was extremely dissatisfied with my experience at Brut restaurant. The food was gross and overpriced, and the refusal to address the issue with the sand in our food left a bad taste in our mouths. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I suggest that you look for other dining options in Tel Aviv that offer better food and service.

Someone told me this is the best restaurant in Tel Aviv. I really wanted to like it, but I left feeling overfull and disappointed. I should have read the reviews first. Out of the 6-8 or so dishes I got, maybe 2 were interesting. The rest were ok. Although I never did receive any water until I asked near the end of the meal, the waitstaff were actually very kind and engaging.

Brut is one of my favorite restaurants, the place is all about seasonality, local ingredients and wine! (of course) The food is absolutely delicious! The menu contains original and unique courses. # Two must try dishes: Red palamida sashimi - harmony of flavors! Tajarin: 43 yolks homemade pasta, butter and parmesan - I can truly eat this every day! # Best spot: on the bar!

The place is overpriced and the food is less than mediocre. The waiter/shift manager made us feel like he was doing us a favor by serving us. We had high expectations with the fancy menu but the the reality was very disappointing. Don’t think that this place will last long.

Most of the courses are specials that change all the time so make sure to check the menu before you come. Anyway, the food is always prepared to perfection. This is a wine bar so expect a nice variety of cool wines thought a bit on the expensive side. The white Bourgogne chardonnay 2017 was excellent. Seating is problematic though as you either sit in a crowded window bar or even worse, on the street on an uneven side walk where things slide on the table. Be sure to seat in the inner bar

My friend and I enjoyed every single dish served! It was superb! Very creative cooking with beautiful tastes blending together. The service was absolutely warm and personal. We had an amazing culinary experience at Brut. This is definitely a very expensive restaurant but it's worth treating your palate once in a while.

A lot of special wines so you can find at least one that you'll like. I'd say that the food is pretty middle eastern, which is very interesting and pretty good. The stuff are super kind. Thanks for having us

The vibe is great the stuff is so intelligent and the service is great. The food was nice. Not what we expected. Very gentle tastes, too gentle for our taste.. the price is a bit high, for the only bear bottle 34 nis is a bit too much and the salad also is too pricey for the amount. Nice one time experience

So, went there with the wife for dinner, sat at the window bar. It was a tad bit cramped but we were there alone for the most part. They asked for credit card when we booked our reservation which is highly unlikely for a non michelin star restaurant. Had a bottle of wine, the wine was great, but when they gave us tastings to choose it, they really cheaped out and me and my wife could barely both taste the wine. Anyhow we got past that. Had the meat tartar and fish tartar which were great. The bread was a bit stale which bummed things a bit for us. Ordered the 40 yolk pasta, was disappointed. Was not to my liking. The fetta dish was really good. The stuffed colon was also supprisingly good. All together for me the food was really good, the dish sizes are between first to second course sized so ordering a few is recommended. Has desert, forgot its name, it's was nice, the wife loved it. All together it was a great and fun experience, next time I'll come for wine and less food since it was expensive. Ended up with a 630 nis bill, but we did have quite a bit of food. I feel like it's a bit overpriced. But the overall food and vibe of the place was fun and fresh. Not a lot of places like that in tel Aviv. A solid 4/5

Nice little place. The menu is changing according to current local products and there are some permanent dishes. There are options for vegetarians also and everything is shareable. We ordered 4 dishes and a dessert which were all tasty, portions are small/ medium. The service was very good, the waitress explained and recommended about the dishes. Prices are reasonable and not too high for this kind of restaurant.

I love when your food is cooked in front of you. The each of the five dishes I had was amazing. Good wine selection. Don't forget to book ahead.

The food is good but doesn't justify the price. the air-conditioning isn't strong and it was very very hot inside which made the evening a bit unbearable. service was good. and I'm sure when it isn't so hot the atmosphere is very good.

The food is good. They didn't respect any of COVID's restrictions. They wouldn't let us open the window inside although the place was packed. The service is really good. A bit over sophisticated and ridiculously overpriced.
