The Palace of Culture (Romanian: Palatul Culturii) is an emblematic building in Timișoara, Romania. It hosts a number of cultural institutions, including the Romanian National Opera, the Mihai Eminescu National Theatre, the Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre and the German State Theatre. On 31 October 1918, the unification of Banat and Romania was agreed upon in the Kronprinz Rudolf restaurant, located on the ground floor, by a group led by Aurel Cosma. On 20 December 1989, during the Romanian Revolution, the Democratic Romanian Front [ro] was founded in the Palace of Culture and Timișoara was declared free from communism. The building is a historical monument of national importance, listed under LMI code TM-II-m-A-06118. It occupies the northern side of Victory Square and is one of the main landmarks of the city.

Beautiful building, inside and out! I think it looked better before they built the new facade (around 100 years ago, I think, maybe), but it's still an impressive theater, considering the whole market.

Lovely theater right in the heart of Timişoara. We saw My Fair Lady. The theater is small enough that there are really no bad seats. It was nice to see that attendees took the trouble to dress up and didn't just show up in jeans. In the intermission, we took photographs on the balcony with the illuminated square in the background. Amazing! We were on tour from the US and an evening out at the theater was so special after two years of a pandemic.

A lovely theater next to the square. The ticket office can be access through the street on the left side of the opera house.

Beautiful, enjoyed the show. But very hot with no AC. Bring a fan and water bottle.

This is one my favorite places to visit in Timisoara. Good Opera at a very reasonable price. Excellent acoustics and beautiful setting. A must visit during Opera season which started today!

Went to see "Tache, Ianke si Cadîr", with Horaţiu Mălăele, Răzvan Vasilescu, Mihai Constantin playing the main roles. It was amazing to see these great actors on the scene, the whole crew, in fact. They all did their roles so well, it was fantastic!

👍👍 Nice and cosy place. It is a must if you are interested in Romania's past because the place has a communism museum in the basement where you can see how an average home might have looked like in that era.

👍👍 The adults and children gathered at the Christmas Market that filled the Victoriei Square in Timisoara With the smell of mulled wine and cinnamon, festive brass bands and the joy of being together at Christmas and New Year 2022. It's a wonderful and colorful atmosphere in the city center, which I i...

👍👍 Just take the kids and go to the theater! No kids? Take your neighbour's kids and go! It's such an awesome experience! Sometimes the plays have hidden messages for the adults, wich can be heart-melting. But either way, you can teleport to your childhood for an hour or so, while the children live the...

👍👍 Long story short, entering this place, you'll find a ton of cultural history, not only about the city of Timișoara, but about the variety of people that live there. This aside the plays that are presented here are usually of high caliber, and the tickets are worth their price. The plays are usually...
