recently
had
an
unfortunate
encounter
at
Kitchen
Stuff
Plus
that
left
me
feeling
disappointed
and
disheartened.
While
I
have
always
enjoyed
shopping
at
this
store
for
its
wide
range
of
kitchen
essentials,
the
incident
involving
the
manager's
discriminatory
behavior
has
left
a
sour
taste
in
my
mouth.
During
a
recent
visit
with
a
non-English
speaking
friend,
we
encountered
a
language
barrier
issue
when
he
accidentally
used
the
washroom
which
was
closed.
Understanding
the
situation,
I
approached
the
manager
to
explain
the
misunderstanding
and
apologize
for
any
inconvenience
caused.
However,
instead
of
displaying
empathy
or
understanding,
the
lady
manager
(Joanna)
responded
in
an
unprofessional
and
rude
manner.
To
my
surprise,
she
made
a
derogatory
comment
stating
that
"Well
this
is
Canada
and
you're
supposed
to
know
English."
This
response
was
not
only
offensive
but
also
showcased
a
clear
lack
of
cultural
sensitivity
and
respect
for
diversity.
It
is
disheartening
to
witness
such
behavior
from
someone
in
a
managerial
position
who
should
be
setting
an
example
for
their
staff
and
customers.
As
a
customer,
I
believe
it
is
essential
for
businesses
to
foster
an
inclusive
environment
where
everyone
feels
welcome
regardless
of
their
language
proficiency
or
cultural
background.
Unfortunately,
this
incident
at
Kitchen
Stuff
Plus
demonstrated
quite
the
opposite.
While
I
understand
that
misunderstandings
can
occur
in
any
situation,
it
is
crucial
for
managers
to
handle
such
incidents
with
professionalism
and
respect.
Instead,
this
particular
manager
chose
to
perpetuate
stereotypes
and
discriminate
against
individuals
who
may
not
be
fluent
in
English.
I
hope
that
Kitchen
Stuff
Plus
takes
this
feedback
seriously
and
addresses
this
issue
promptly.
It
is
imperative
for
them
to
provide
proper
training
on
cultural
sensitivity
and
customer
service
skills
to
their
staff
members,
especially
those
in
managerial
positions.
In
conclusion,
my
experience
at
Kitchen
Stuff
Plus
was
marred
by
the
inappropriate
behavior
displayed
by
the
manager.
Such
discriminatory
actions
have
no
place
in
our
society
or
within
any
establishment.
I
sincerely
hope
that
steps
are
taken
to
rectify
this
situation
and
ensure
that
all
customers
are
treated
with
respect
and
dignity,
regardless
of
their
language
abilities.
