Our
Globus
Holiday
From
Hell
In
September
of
this
year
(2022),
my
wife
and
I
set
out
for
the
Pacific
Coast
Adventure
Tour
with
Globus
Tours.
We
had
a
previous
holiday
cancelled
due
to
the
pandemic
and
had
to
use
up
our
credits
by
the
end
of
2022
with
no
refund
option.
Prior
to
starting
this
trip,
we
became
uneasy
after
the
U.S.
removed
all
travel
restrictions
previously
in
place
due
to
the
pandemic
and
news
reports
indicated
an
increase
in
Covid
cases.
What
was
especially
concerning
was
the
fact
that
only
a
proof
of
vaccination
was
required
to
get
on
the
tour
with
no
masking
requirements.
There
was
also
no
requirement
for
a
negative
Covid
test
prior
to
starting
the
trip.
As
is
well
known,
anyone
who
contracts
Covid,
especially
fully
vaccinated,
can
have
little
or
no
symptoms
and
easily
transmit
it
to
others.
First
stop
on
the
tour
was
to
the
Air
&
Space
Museum
in
Seattle
where
it
was
extremely
crowded
with
next
to
no
masking.
2-3
days
after
this
my
wife
developed
a
chronic
cough
that
I
felt
to
be
very
disconcerting.
Although
others
on
the
coach
were
also
coughing
hers
was
more
frequent.
With
the
tour
guide
having
previously
offered
everyone
covid
test
kits
if
desired
I
decided
the
following
morning
before
breakfast
to
test
her.
She
showed
positive
so
I
contacted
the
guide
who
after
calling
head
office
was
informed
that
we
would
be
removed
from
the
tour.
With
no
direct
communication
from
Globus,
we
were
left
totally
abandoned
and
bewildered
outside
the
hotel
holding
onto
our
luggage.
This
was
a
small
town
on
the
Pacific
coast.
We
ended
up
taking
a
$450
taxi
ride
to
an
airport
where
we
were
able
to
get
a
flight
back
to
Seattle.
No
sooner
were
we
in
a
hotel
room
when
I
had
a
medical
emergency
from
all
the
stress
and
ended
up
in
the
ER.
It
is
now
quite
apparent
to
me
that
my
wife
probably
contracted
Covid
at
the
museum
or
more
likely
from
other
passengers
on
the
coach
as
we
were
only
non-masked
when
we
were
eating
with
them.
Globus
gave
no
provision
for
someone
to
cancel
at
the
last
minute
and
get
refunded
if
having
Covid
so
there
was
no
incentive
to
stay
home
if
sick.
With
Globus
Covid
requirements
only
requiring
vaccinations
it
is
obvious
that
they
expect
that
if
anyone
contracts
Covid
it
should
be
less
of
a
concern
and
like
a
bad
cold
(as
it
should
be).
At
the
time
it
did
seem
strange
to
me
that
all
the
coughing
on
the
coach
was
ignored
but
now
I
understand.
The
tour
guide
did
say
to
me
that
she
was
surprised
my
wife
got
Covid
since
we
were
always
wearing
a
mask.
Surprise,
Surprise.
Having
never
had
Covid
before,
she
had
no
idea
how
it
would
affect
her.
I
later
also
tested
positive
but
probably
like
most
others
on
the
coach
only
had
slight
symptoms.
Globus
also
has
not
had
the
courtesy
to
reply
to
our
emails
since
arriving
home.
This
review
is
not
about
getting
Covid
but
how
we
were
treated
by
Globus.
Other
operators
have
arranged
quarantine
etc.
for
their
guests
and
not
put
them
to
the
curb
like
Globus.
So,
anyone
still
not
comfortable
travelling
and
not
been
able
to
get
a
refund,
consider
yourself
lucky.
