It is extremely overpriced. Some staff members are extremely rude and on the polite request for accommodating people with special needs, first refuse to serve food and then swear on their customers in portuguese. Highly unprofessional. Further, Hotel and Villa is advertised as "sustainable", which translate for them as cement blocks (unsustainble) and in a faux rustic style. The entire design makes no sense and is dangerous for elderely. For example we saw multiple people trip over the glass on the entrance stairs and got badly hurt. Also, it is not at the beach and quite far. For elderly people definitely not the right fit.

We were there a few years ago and have returned now but the experience has been very unpleasant and radically different. First of all, the environment has ceased to be bucolic and peaceful, and they have filled it with horrible design villas, which makes you are locked in an urbanization and not in a natural and quiet environment. The hotel services have deteriorated dramatically. Many days there are not enough towels and in the evening there is no hot water. The daily cleaning is very basic, and the floors are not mopped for example. The night service is often not done, and when it is done, it is limited to lighting the candles. They no longer replace water or towels as in the past. The food in the restaurant is scarce and very expensive. For example, the fish of the day is two 5x5 centimeter pieces of tasteless fish covered with a sauce to give it flavor and they charge 28 euros. In the area there are very good restaurants where you can appreciate the good raw materials of the area and the Portuguese gastronomy. The worst thing is the breakfasts. They have greatly reduced the variety of food. There is no more smoked salmon or Serrano ham as in the past, for example. And with the excuse of COVID there are shifts, which are a disaster, as many people do not respect them and sneak in. You can not take the food directly, but you have to go to a corner, without ventilation, to ask for them behind a cordon as a fence, in which the food is 20 centimeters from it. In other words, all the guests will go to a small, unventilated corner to choose their breakfast. The eggs are tasteless and factory-farmed, not from local chickens. The croissants are industrial and flavourless. The cake of the day that they make, since there are no longer several as in the past, tastes nothing either. Bad industrial cold meats. I'd better not go on.

Stunning Hotel close to the coast. Every room is special. We had the Terra, and we liked it a lot. Mostly concrete and simple with a few highlights. Huge bathroom with big tub. ( the jets within are not really efficient ....) from the terrace you have direct walk access to the beach through some dunes, about 15 min walk. Breakfast was amazing! Because of covid you choosed in the kitchen and get it served at your table. Dinner was fabulous. We did all three evenings there, also we planed one dinner somewhere else.... So good. There was only one menu every night but we really enjoyed it. The team is very friendly and helpful, thanks for hosting us!

One of the best hotels I have ever visited. We have been feeling welcomed by the lovely staff and the beautiful nature surrounding the property. There is nothing that could be done in a better way. - fantastic rooms - beautiful path to the beach - very friendly staff - good food - fair value for money I will definitely return soon!

We’re getting married here in a few weeks. We love this place more than anywhere in the world and we’ve been all over. It’s restorative, beautiful and delicious. See the chickens, use the spa and eat the Tagine!!

Hotel is lovely but the team of staff has left me with the strongest impression. Everyone was super friendly, helpful and professional. Miguel, the yoga instructor is truly phenomenal, where the hotel offers free yoga classes - a must do and can be a life changing experience if you ask me.

Absolutely incredible experience. We visited for our honeymoon and had a fantastic time. The architecture and the surrounding property are gorgeous, and the facilities are beautifully maintained. We had two massages at the onsite spa and thought they did a very nice job. What really stood out, though, was the service. They constantly looked for ways to surprise and delight us, any frequently found small ways to creatively exceed or supplement their response to any small request we made. Ordered a glass of wine? Here’s a chocolate truffle to go with it! Want some tea to end your meal, but feeling jet-lagged? Let us bring it to your room! Truly stellar experience. Would warmly recommend.

The most romantic, picturesque and serene hotel! Every detail of the hotel decor has been beautifully designed to evoke a relaxing and harmonious stay. The property is stunning and the staff were so wonderful. Breakfast was so delicious. Great pride taken in providing healthy and delicious food. I’m just sad I couldn’t stay longer!

Just a perfect place. Stunning design, great location, eco-friendly approach, super friendly attentive staff which seems to like working there, very delicious food, great selection of wines, still down to earth despite their success... I could go on. Experience it yourself!

Beautiful location, lovely houses. Enjoyed being with our family. My wife had an avoidable accident when she fell in a poorly lit internal area with glass flooring adjacent to a decorative "trench" lined with loose stones. She was badly hurt but fortunately the injuries are likely to heal without specific treatment. This area needs to be changed to avoid further accidents that have more serious, long lasting, injuries.

Simply exceptional across the board: - design is top notch, both for the common areas and the rooms, with impeccable taste and interior design - staff is extremely friendly, service-minded and professional - food, incl. Breakfast is great, with a lot of ingredients from their own garden - surrounding area, incl. An amazing largely empty beach, are beautiful - yoga classes with great teachers in a great environment Warmly recommended!

We visited this hidden piece of Portuguese paradise for my wife's birthday trip. There is much interest and attention to detail in the modern, yet warm architecture & environment crafted by the team at Vasco Vieira Architects. Anyone who is a seasoned traveler knows that it's just not about the facade, but it's about the amazing people who help create the vibe. Marianna, Joe, Enrique, Anita, Carol and many more made our stay friendly, warm, accommodating & inviting. Breakfast offered an excellent spread and the garden to table menu at both the casual greenhouse and the more upscale indoor restaurant was phenomenal. In fact, we loved it so much we cancelled a reservation and moved back to this spot again for the end of our trip! The property is located on top of a cliff overlooking the ground and the ocean with about a 10 min private walk through their backyard to the beach. It's really enjoyable to explore the natural landscape, walk over dunes at a higher elevation and then through a hiking trail that connects to a local beach park staircase down to the ocean. It is also 5-6 mins away from other restaurants, beaches and their sister property Noah Surf House for a surf, skate or fitness experience.

This was the best hotel experience we've had to this date. Everything was just perfect from check-in to check-out. The room was on another level - the fireplace, the bathtub, the ceiling showers, even the sound system (which you could connect via Bluetooth and play your own music) was great. You then have the deck where you can relax and enjoy the sounds of the birds chirping and the waves of the sea crashing. You can walk to the dunes and enjoy the sand on your feet. The vibe of the hotel was just amazing - every corner is well thought out and nicely decorated. Nothing is out of place. We also did the couple's massage (shoulders and back) and it was a really nice experience. We loved every minute of our stay and will visit again in the future!

The most magical place! Coming here since 8 years. You rarely find a place which fills you heart from the first moment you step in. And like few other hotels, Areias keeps evolving in beauty, quality of the staff & the skills in translating the produce from its own garden on site into the most wonderful food from morning to evening. The fact that it is located just behind a sand dune, with stunning ocean views and the most energy filled beach that you have for yourself most of the times, adds to the magic of the entire experience. From the first step, the deeper you go and look, the more beauty you will find.

We had our wedding here and we can’t speak highly enough about this place. More than the incredible esthetic & beauty of the venue, was how wonderful the staff was. I hope they know we are forever grateful for their kindness to us and our guests. You are amazing!!

The setting was mesmerizing - situated near dunes that seem to stretch forever, and a beach just steps below it. Wild flowers to guide the way from the hotel grounds to the surf below. Our room - the Love Room - was quite simply unlike any other we had ever stayed in. An outdoor shower built around a 200-year old olive tree, a wood-burning fireplace ready for use, a deck that led out to the hotel grounds and dunes further down. And the restaurant - largely based on produce grown in the hotel garden - had some incredible vegan dishes.

This was the absolute best hotel stay I've ever had. The friendly service, the rooms, the property, the food. Everything was perfect. We stayed here for our first 2 nights in Portugal, and I wish we had just stayed the whole time! It was such a lovely introduction to how friendly and peaceful the country is overall. Service - Raquel was extremely kind, and helpful in getting us into our rooms, I felt immediately calmed after a long day of travel once she welcomed us into the hotel. Andre was so knowledgable and helpful with recommendations for food and wine when we dined. Every other member of staff we met was equally friendly we just didn't get everyone's names! They set such a calming vibe. Rooms - Since we booked very last minute, we had to switch from one room to another but this ended up being a blessing because the rooms are incredible and unique. Our first night was in one of the Love rooms which are all one of a kind. Ours ("Me Ma Bo") had its own large patio terrace with hot tub and day bed, a jacuzzi near the bed, a wood burning fireplace, and a beautiful bed and bathroom area. Truly luxurious and worth the splurge. The next night we were in I think one of the Tree rooms ("Terra") which are a bit more standardized but still just as beautiful and have an amazing bath area, fireplace, and porch looking out over the gardens. All the finishes and fixtures are modern / natural and create a very peaceful and calming environment. Property - this property has it all. Beach access, countryside landscape, gardens that serve farm to table meals, beautiful pool areas, privacy and peace. Easy access from Lisbon, but far enough away to feel you've escaped. Food - all of the food and wine we had was amazing, we ate all our meals on site and the food was fresh and I loved hearing about the gardens and locally sourced ingredients. They have menus available throughout the day and two locations to dine - the greenhouse is incredibly beautiful and was our favorite place to eat. Other - this is the type of place you come to stay put and be still. We did join yoga class, had some work outs on our own private porch, and grabbed a bike to take a ride down to Noah's Surf Shack (their sister property). All super enjoyable! If we stayed longer we'd have tried to take advantage of the spa as well. Value - while this was on the pricier side of places we stayed while in Portugal, we felt it was more than worth the value in every way and it felt fairly priced for the experience. Noah's Surf Shack is their sister property which is a few minutes away and offers a less expensive alternative (although it's a very different vibe - a bit more social / family oriented / in the midst of a small walkable town). Would love to return here and can't recommend it enough.

Magical location. We had the Love room and it was spectacular and romantic. Such a unique hotel with nature all around you. Great music in the room. Staff was lovely. So friendly and attentive. It’s all about the attention to details. From the room design to turn down service. Ate dinner both nights at hotel. Food was beautiful and delicious. Sat at Chef’s counter one night. Chef and his staff so engaging taking pride in their creations. Only negative is we should have stayed longer.

I can't say enough good things about Areias do Seixo! My wife and I spent two nights here to celebrate our anniversary. The location is so peaceful and serene. Our room, Jasmine, was gorgeous, complete with a fireplace and jacuzzi inside and a private outdoor space for our own campfire. What really sets it apart for me though was the staff! It seemed as if everyone knew us by name from the moment we arrived. I have celiac disease, so I need to be very careful of gluten. Nine (!) different staff members approached me during my stay to confirm and discuss my dietary needs - never out of frustration, they all truly cared. Without my asking, they prepared bowls of fruit for me with my breakfast before they handled other gluten-containing foods. Their menus clearly show GF options. The most amazing part was the surprise pastry they brought to our table on our anniversary - prepared in a separate location to avoid cross-contamination. The gratitude I felt brought me to tears. If you are looking for a little luxury at a unique property with good food and an attentive staff, then go here! If you are in any way gluten-intolerant or Celiac like me, then book a stay immediately. Areias do Seixo was a little slice of paradise where I didn't have to worry about food preparation for a couple of days.

My husband and I enjoyed every minute of our short stay in Areias do Seixo. The extremely friendly staff, the beautiful location, the fantastic breakfast and dinner in a very romantic environment made this short trip a memorable experience. We will definitely go back again soon.

WOWOW! What a special place. After traveling from Lisbon to the Algarve, and Alentejo regions, my wife and I were thrilled to end our trip at Areias do Seixo. This resort blew away the other places we stayed at which included the Ivens Hotel in Lisbon, the Bela Vista Hotel in Algarve, and even the super lux Vila Vita Parc. These other spots were great .. offering luxury accommodations, excellent service, great food and styling .... but none were as unique and truly memorable as Areias do Seixo. Our first choice was to stay in a Tree room but everything was booked but a Townhouse or a Shelter. We opted for the Shelter for a more unique experience, and boy was it the right choice. The Shelters (better described as what they are: Yurts) are so amazing ... so Romantic. They are well appointed with claw foot tubs, large comfy beds, bathrooms with double sinks, a standup shower ... all the bells and whistles ... and a wood burning stove. The resort itself is so special .. it really warms your heart and fills your soul ... but you need to be open to it. The staff is great, the food is incredible (with veggies grown in the hotel's gardens), the facilities are beautiful .. rustic meeting modern perfectly ... the grounds with bluffs and cliffs right at your fingertips are impressive. The lighting at night adds to the attractiveness of the grounds and facilities. If you are looking for a romantic getaway don't miss this special place. It is also great for families ... with plenty for those kiddies if you have them. Note that this is a great spot to stay at while perusing nearby charming towns such as Obidos or Peniche. This is by far one of the most special places we have ever stayed ... and we live in NYC and have travelled quite a bit ... hopefully this review is helpful.

This place is a real oasis for body, mind and spirit! We’ve had the honour of working at this beautiful hotel as wedding photographers and on all occasions, we were smitten by the place! The hotel team always goes above and beyond to help both their guests but also the vendors involved in the events that are carried out there. Each room has a unique characteristic and if you love sitting by a fire, some rooms have the facility to make a little fireplace. If you’re considering the hotel as a wedding venue, there are plenty of separate settings for the different functions that a wedding entails. Plus, there are many gorgeous spots for perfect wedding portraits. Highly recommended!

Gorgeous design hotel. Stayed for two rainy nights so we didn't enjoy the outdoors much, but the restaurant was great, the spa was great and the rooms were amazing. Happy to just sit by the fire and listen to the train.

I love photography at Hotel Areias do Seixo! The location is stunning and offers a unique blend of contemporary design and natural beauty. The hotel is surrounded by lush greenery and breathtaking ocean views, making it the perfect backdrop for capturing special moments. The staff is incredibly welcoming and always willing to help create amazing photos. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a charming location to capture their memories.

It's an amazing place with the most friendly and happy team I've ever seen in any other 5-stars hotels! The hotel is beautifully and functionally decorated. The room has an ocean view, so you can easily walk to the cliffs. The food in the restaurant is exceptional as well.

We stayed 3 nights at the shelter. We experienced upon ariival such a warm welcoming reception team. I was impressed by this warm welcome and all help provided. This is what for sure makes a 5 star hotel. The shelter had a roof with 2 single beds downstairs a shower and a toilet. It was a really big shelter and when it was a bit cold we turned on the fire place. You can also have a private barbeque. We had a lovely big garden outside... this place is unique and fantastic. Especially for the children its also an experience. Just a walk across is a very romantic place to have breakfast. Next to the shelter is a huge place where kids can play eg trampolin, biking, and they organize activities.we enjoyed a lot also the family activity.Thank you so much. We will be back for sure. THANK YOU.

This is a magical place in a very serene location. It manages to combine character and individuality with levels of service and comfort you would expect from a five star hotel. Rooms are very spacious, with a huge bathroom. Fantastic communal spaces and a great restaurant which does a sublime breakfast. There are Specialized bikes you can take for a spin, the massage was very good, and there are also more community type events from drinks each evening to music round the fire, yoga and workouts. For us it was also the little touches, like returning to your room in the evening and finding the candles had been lit. Strongly recommend!

To give this place 5 stars is understating it! Everything is absolutely first-class, nothing but the finest. The standard of the accommodation is mind-blowing. But above all the staff are lovely and smiling whilst they unobtrusively go about their business of ensuring everything is perfect. We stayed in an enormous villa with every mod-con imaginable. It's a "once in a lifetime" kind of a place, well, in my lifetime anyway! Simply fabulous...

  • 1/5 m J. 2 years ago on Google
a very simple problem: they love themself much more than their guests. The Villa we stayed in had no privacy at all. from al angles of the Hotel the entire groundfloor is to be seen. of course there are no curtains. There is onlyone Restaurant totally overpriced and for 5 days the same Menue with 7 dishes is boring as well. Breakfast is good but no surprises. Here you dont have a Name, you are Villa Number ... and every day they ask you if it is your first time in Hotel. dont expect somebody from Reception to look up and say hello when you walk pass. we saw an arriving couple the just wanted a glass of Wine after a long flight. No way ! it is only 11.00h no alcohol before 12.00h. you can continue countless. it is the DETAILS making a Place a 5 Star Hotel.

This was a 25th wedding anniversary treat and a surprise from my wife. As such, I don’t know all the details that went into making our stay one of the best hotel experiences ever. All I do know is that the place, the staff and, of course, my fellow guest were wonderful! Apparently we visited after a 4-month refurb. It’s an hotel with loads of carefully curated ‘stuff’ that add opulence and interest to every space. The building itself is concrete and ‘rusty’ ironwork. I’m sure there’s an architectural design term for this style. The setting is within managed but ‘wild’ grasses and dunes atop the coastal cliff. A staircase leads down to the beach below but we didn’t get that far. On the first night we sat in the dunes and watched the sun set whilst enjoying a picnic prepared for the occasion by the hotel. Glorious! On the second evening, a 3-course dinner for two was served to us in the cinema dome – a large tent in the grounds, equipped with wood burning stove, giant lounging cushions and a projector. The occasion was beyond special. Our coast-facing room was extended with a large private terrace that had a concrete jacuzzi and double sun bed. Inside was a concrete sunken bath next to the bed, wood burning stove and a separate bathroom area with double shower. The hotel has bikes that guests can borrow and organises well-being activities like yoga each day. There’s a green ethos to the place. They grow their own fruit and veg and keep chickens for eggs. Other produce is locally sourced. Concrete isn’t green and there’s a lot of that. Plus, with wood burners in every room, the carbon emissions won’t be low during the cooler evenings. But hey, who doesn’t love a romantic log fire at the end of the bed? This place is blissful and the occasion created by my wife and the highly imaginative staff will be unforgettable. Utterly, utterly special.

I recently had my wedding here and it exceeded my expectations. Diana made the planning a breeze, despite covid craziness. Due to the restrictions, I couldn’t be there sooner to see the hotel or taste the food but every detail was perfect in terms of the space, decor and the food was delicious (and so much, I feel like I didn’t get to eat enough of it). We booked every room and each of my guests had nothing but rave reviews. Aside from my husband and I, it was everyone’s first time and experience in Portugal and they all left amazed! It was such a beautiful and magical setting for this time in our lives. Lastly, the staff was so helpful, gracious and welcoming. They quickly felt like family and friends too! We will be back again and again.

Wonderful relaxing time. My wife had reservations when we arrived and there was no A/C and no T.V. All hesitation was lost once we settled in. The open air and sea breeze did not require any air conditioning and the views far surpassed anything on television. The dinner was magnificent. The best since our arrival in Portugal. (4 days ago.) I would highly recommend spending a few days here to unwind and recharge. Enjoy. We certainly did.
