Was in the mood to try something new, we made our way to the cartopia food cart village. We saw this food truck and we're excited to try there poutine fries! As they are one of my favorites. The lady working was not very chipper; idk but, she looked hungover or something. Clearly didn't want to be there for sure. As she literally plopped our order down on the small metal rack, we had to remind her it was a to go order. She seemed very irritated. Anyways... The fries were soggy, the cheese curds weren't melted, and the gravy was definitely powdered gravy with garlic salt in it. VERY salty. All in all, underwhelmed. Hard pass on trying again. P. S. This is all we ate of them, made our stomach hurt.

We read about Potato Champion in Lonely Planet and as we love poutine we had to stop in. Parking isn't great. The poutine was underwhelming- curds were not melted at all and the gravy was very sweet, unlike any poutine we've had throughout Canada and the upper Midwest. We wouldn't recommend.

I’m being generous with 3 stars it’s closer to 2 but the worker there who was newly working there, was kind and smiling so that’s what earned the extra star. I had it once before and thought maybe this time around would be better but disappointed once again. Fries are cold like so disappointingly cold. The warm gravy turns the fries soggy super quick and the curds were chewy with no melt. The flavor was not at all worth remembering and I can guarantee that you could make this at home better! The chipotle Mayo was okay, barely any chipotle more Mayo. Unfortunately not returning and will venture to find a better spot if there are any. Do not recommend.

The past 3 times I tried to eat there, they have been CLOSED when their hours online said they should have been open and all the other food carts were open. Last time I was there, they looked open, their window was open, and there was a sign on the counter saying "Be Back Soon" so we waited for over half an hour outside in the freezing cold and no one came back! It's so weird they just left their cart open and abandoned like that. I took a photo and will never go back. Also, the online menu is also different than what is offered in person. For some reason, it won't let me order the PBJ Fries online. It only lets you choose their most popular items or build your own. But there's no point in ordering online when there's no one in the cart to receive the order and make your food! Finally, I heard many others in the vegan community were disappointed in the new ownership and by how poorly run it is now, I'm not surprised.

After being up for almost 24 hours traveling we stumbled across this place as they were closing. Most of their stuff had been cleaned up but they so graciously made one more batch of poutine fries for us and they were to die for. We underestimated how early things close here in Portland but it led us to here with a great meal to close out this long day. Thank you for accommodating us!! We will back!!

Rude service and burnt fries all for $19. Palak Paneer fries were a gimmick for the sake of gimmicky. I wouldn't usually leave a bad review for just general mediocrity, but the jerk taking the orders earned it for this place. Don't let the patronizing reviews fool you, this place is a waste of time, money, and calories.

Really the worst fries I’ve ever had. Tasted cooked in old oil, burnt and soggy. I make fries at home and mine are way better. Very awful, very sad, fries aren’t hard to make. Plus the gravy on the side was broken, oily. I won’t be back.

I have given this place a few tries. They serve their gravy warm, not hot, so curds do not melt. The curds are actually very firm. I feel like I’ve eaten 7x the daily recommended salt intake in one sitting. This is the standard for this cart, not a one off.

I really wanted to like this place. I love potatoes, and I especially love poutine. I didn’t even expect it to be on the level of French-Canadian poutine or have squeaky cheese curds. But this poutine was nearly inedible. The curds were fine, and the gravy was actually pretty good. But the fries were the saltiest thing I’ve ever eaten in my entire life. I have no idea how they even managed to get that much salt on the fries. I love salt. I put obscene amounts of salt on my food. But this was a jaw-dropping eye-boggling amount of salt. It was hard to eat a single fry because it felt like swallowing an entire salt packet. I just want to warn any unsuspecting poutine-lovers who don’t enjoy the equivalent of chugging straight seawater in their spare time.

First they half their portions, then they charge more. And maybe I would understand this if they didn’t mess up the poutine most times. Or had any assembly of excellency’s or at least consistency to offer. But all of that said, when I was shocked by the portion change, someone literally laughed in my face and waved bye to me while smiling menacingly. So……they’re just gonna have to keep their overpriced handful of brown fries.

We’re not a religious family, but we celebrate Friesday every week. In a completely scientific study, Potato Champion ranked top dog with 100% of children in this household. Kudos to the victors, and their appropriately named establishment.

I've attempted to order from here multiple times and the order always ends up being canceled immediately and the restaurant won't take any more orders for the remainder of the day. I'm convinced that the quality of the food itself isn't terrible but what seems to be refusal of service for no apparent reason is baffling. Can't a guy just get some poutine while he's at work for once?

Got the Palak Paneer fries and they did not disappoint! The fries were really well done, the paneer was super soft and tasty, and the gravy was spot on. I wish it would’ve been a bit spicier, but nevertheless they were very flavorful and delicious. A very innovative idea, well executed. Definitely going to try the other options next time!

Decided to give this place a try since everyone seems to be raving about it. Walked up to place my order, the person working at the front was super friendly, answered any questions I had, and suggested items to try. The food on the other hand, was, mediocre, the fries were soggy, some of them tasted burnt, cheese was cold in some areas, some of it was not melted, everything was just, not enjoyable. Gave it a try, but it's a pass for me.

Always love coming here. The fries are gluten free as they are fresh and they don’t fry anything else in the fryer. We get the regular fries and the poutine every time. They have a good amount of sauces to choose from but we usually get the rosemary truffle ketchup and frittesaus. This pod has a good amount of benches under a big shade and fire pits to keep you warm. You can also get other complimentary food at the carts here.

Very good food. I don't know much about poutine, but the food here rates high in my general selection of restaurants. I love the general ambience of the food caet pod. The heated tented area is a nice touch with winter starting.

I saw they had PBJ fries and was immediately intrigued. The results were phenomenal! I tend to be a simple person— I enjoy my fries cooked well and seasoned well and dipped primarily in ketchup. Yet, I couldn’t not try this unique pairing. The “peanut butter” is peanut satay, which adds wonderful spices into the flavor. The “jelly” is a chipotle raspberry jam, which adds even more of a sweet kick into the mix. The fries were cooked perfectly and, overall, it all came together in the most satisfying way possible. I will be returning and it may be a while until I get to the other fry options they have, although, I’m sure every option available is a winner.

Everyone is quick to complain about the bad when in fact, we should be recognized in that good qualities that employees and companies have to offer, Porsche went out of her way to make me feel comfortable and gave me advice regarding my questions about their menu. I do not post reviews often unless they are validated and this employee is worth the review and then some. It doesn’t hurt that the food is amazing as well. 😂

One of Portlands Food Cart Gems! This humble potato cart is the perfect spot for anyone craving fries. While it's perfect box of fried potato is enough to keep me coming, the main draw is the vast amount of options you have to dress and dip your spud delights in.
