We came to Portland from Seattle just to visit this establishment. We were not disappointed! The food was definitely legit Sri Lankan food, as I am from Sri lanka, so I do have knowledge of what is authentic, and this food reminded me of where I came from. We ordered spicy Pol roti, the beef roll and meatball kottu. The coconut sombol was super! I recommend that you take the time to seek them out. The staff was very friendly and and helpful.

I ordered a random thing because I didn't know what anything was. They brought it out, and I still didn't know what it was and couldn't remember what I ordered. It smelled good and was delicious. I have no idea what I ate. I have no eating restrictions. It seemed like a bunch of onion and carrots and celery and cabbage and some meat substitute, all ground up and fried. It was absolutely delicious. I ordered it spicy, it was the perfect spice level. It reminded me that I am a very white man, but I'm open minded. I'll definitely eat here again and hopefully next time I won't accidentally order the same thing because I'd like to try some of their other meals. This place is wonderful 👍👍👍

Mirisata, this is a pretty good place to eat for dinner. The food tastes pretty decent, it’s a bit salty and when we ordered medium spiciness, is a bit too spicy for us so be careful. Overall, displays have outdoor seating which is pretty Covid safe. The staff was super nice and very welcoming as well as they help us choose the right food and the right portion to eat.

First time trying out vegan SriLankan food. Food was good quality, tasted fresh. Short eats sampler was a big hit. Priced a tad bit on the higher side for the quantity (and having to bus the table) but hard to say if it's the new norm with inflation. (Update: as owner mentioned below, pricing includes gratuity so that's 1 less thing to worry about). Kitchen is open to view and looks organized, clean. Very friendly staff. Enjoyed the outdoor seating area. The only 2 concerns were: have to walk all the way through the kitchen for restroom access, and water, napkins, cutlery could be more easily accessible.

Amazing food! The spices are just right, done to your preferences. We loved the kottu, the tamarind curry side as well as lemon soda.

This place has such potential! I hope next time I go and order differently it'll up my rating. The Kottu (bread, chikkin, pineapple)was huge and tasted like boiled cabbage. We ordered it "hot" which ended up being just a load of old tasting spices put in. The added pineapple, a 3 dollar upcharge, was the only spots of flavor. The texture was just mushy steamed mass which could have been microwaved in a bowl upside down. For 23 bucks... Skip it. The mushroom special was better. Fresh flavors. However the mushrooms were fried past recognition, and compared to the Kottu this dish was very small. Confusing. The staff was kind and the meal was served pretty quickly. The space was clean and cozy for an outdoor seating set up. Tips are included in the prices, but it was still high for what we got.

Fantastic shareable plate with a wide assortment of options. There's a mix of hot and cold with unique, savory flavors all within the same plate. There's indoor and outdoor seating, The staff were kind. The silverware looked mass batch washed. No cut lemons for the complimentary water. All in all, though It was very good. Would recommend.

The covered patio with filtered light and tropical plants instantly transports you to an oasis in the middle of the Portland summer heat. We found their dishes to be creative and worth the $$, lots of different options. Be prepared to wait a little bit after ordering online at the table. Everything was spicy!

A hidden gem. I can’t believe I just found out about this place. The vegan and gluten-free options in portland are pretty amazing. Also, they do not accept tips. Gratuity is included in the prices.

First time trying Sri Lankan food! I was hoping to get something a bit less spicy but even the mild option was quite spicy (sorry, I don't handle spicy well). I was still able to eat quite a bit though, and the taste was delicious! If you like spicy food (or if you feel adventurous), then this is a must try place! My partner who loves anything spicy was a big fan!! The passion food drink was a god sent with the spicy flavors and the Watalappan (flan-like dessert) was very good too! Another great thing about Mirisata: it is a worker-owned cooperative, so they don't accept tips but only donations (unfortunately only through Venmo - which I don't have since I live in Canada - and I didn't have any cash to give), which is refreshing after being asked 20% tips everywhere else in Portland for minimal service. Even though I don't do well with spicy, I will definitely come back!

This place serves awesome vegan food. All of their items are vegan. We had the Vegetable combo plate and Hot Butter Prawns. The prawns are so delicious that we could not understand it was vegan. The preparation was great. The foods were bursting with flavors. It was not very spicy (You can add spice if you want) but we can feel lots of intense tastes and flavors. The Vegetable combo had a variety of vegetable curries. It was not spicy. Different curries and dal tasted mildly different and great. Both the items gave me a great experience of Asian food. We tried the Cardamom pudding and pineapple cake for desert and both of them were great. I would definitely recommend everyone to try their food. People will definitely get a different experience.

An incredible experience. The food was delicious and the service even better. Our order was taken by the delightful and angelic cashier/server extraordinaire (chef as well maybe?) Ro. We got the rice and curry special (which is enough for two people), 2 Godamba rotis, and the black Ceylon tea with ALL the add ons. They did not have the Seeni Sambol available, and Ro graciously subbed it for the Polos cutlets which are delicious. Unbelievable experience. I found myself surprised at how lowkey and comfortable the atmosphere was given how incredible the food was! The dishes were flavorful, spicy, and unexpected. A burst of new flavors with every chew! Everything came out quite quickly - once again service is IMPECCABLE. Can’t wait to come back here with my love. See the photos for the before and after :)

This is my first time trying Sri Lankan food. And, it didn’t disappoint! Delicious flavors! I’d the string hoppers and the Cylon black tea. I loved both! I got my string hoppers with the coconut pol - 😋 It also came with a potato stew and dal. Absolutely yummy!! Oh, and this place is vegan! My friend’s “chicken” kottu - had imitation meat. I don’t really know what chicken tastes like - so, when I tried the dish the “meat” tasted like tofu to me. Technically, it seems to be a soy meat. Anyway, it was yummy too! However, if you are used to meat, expect to have your expectations challenged! Overall, delicious food and such warm, friendly staff! There is street parking around the restaurant, but sometimes parking spot may be hard to come by! If you’re in Portland - definitely stop by here!

Take this review with a grain of salt because I've never tried Sri Lankan food before, so not sure how authentic it is or what exactly I was ordering. The staff was very helpful and patient :-). I ordered the String Hopper combo plate, which comprised of rice noodles and small bowls with potato curry, dhal, and seeni sambal (spicy onion relish). Everything tasted fresh, though to my taste buds it needed a little something...salt? vinegar? Not sure what. This might be authentic and that's what it's supposed to taste like, but my taste buds were looking for something more akin to Indian food...because that's what it looked like. I'll go back again and try some other dishes to see if they're any better.

Portland food scene continues to amaze me. A vegan Sri Lankan restaurant! We picked Sri Lanka for our honeymoon because of its beauty and delicious food. My husband and I had lunch at Mirisata today. The food brought back lots of good memories. Our server was friendly and helpful explaining the menu to us. We had Deviled Pork, Sri Lankan Chinese dish. It was very flavorful. The bottom layer of curry basmati rice was very delicious. The Polos Kottu which was jackfruit curry was tasty as well. We also had a side order of dhal and roti. All very good and fresh. We started talking to fellow diners who were Sri Lankan. They enjoyed and appreciated having a Sri Lankan restaurant in Portland. Mirisata is a gem. Delicious food and friendly service.

My partner and I are vegan, and were stoked to stop by here while visiting Portland for the day. We went on a Saturday evening, ordering and splitting the rice and curry special with a side of roti—so fun to try several flavorful dishes at an incredibly reasonable price. The curries, the mustard greens, the spiced caramelized onion... Service was friendly and warm. Was neat to witness the kitchen firsthand on the walk to the restroom. Thank you!

Unique cuisine in a middle of a rustic neighborhood. This place is interesting. The way they set up is first come, first serve, no reservation is needed unless you have a big group, it has spacious outdoor seating and some indoor seating. You can order from the QR code on your table or walk up to the window to order. The kitchen is wide open and what was a production back there. You have to walk through the kitchen for the bathroom, very oddity layout. The service here is semi-friendly, it has a mixture between dine-in and fast food. food will deliver to your table but you will have to buzz after you are done. Any additional sauce/spicy is an additional cost. Everything is vegan. We ordered family style for 1-3, it was a perfect pre-portion for two people. All the dishes are tasty, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The price seems to be reasonable and the best part is no tipping is accepted.

First time having Sri Lankan food and it is delicious (and also spicy). Love their generous portions, even for their appetizers. The food vaguely reminds me of Indian, but with slightly more mild and coconut flavor. Their banana flower empanadas are amazing, and will be back to try there potato and pumpkin croquettes. Meanwhile, we got a roti combination platter and all the side that comes with added so much flavor. We were so full by the end of the meal! We will definitely be back!

Had family style meal for 3 along with Godamba roti, hot chilli pol roti, vegetable roti and hot butter prawns and Watalappan for dessert. Found items to be somewhat greasy and lacked any distinct flavor/spices.

Omg absolutely loved the food here!!! Spicey but feel free to order a lime soda to cool off ;) I didn’y love their coffee so would skip that but the food was just excellent! The chef was very kind and took sometime to chat with us after.

Always a favorite - delicious food! We usually get the special but had to order the kottu one last time before it's gone 😜 Vegan - mostly and they're great with labeling allergens...
