One of my favorite restaurants to eat at. I would say it's got little Italian mostly German fusion. Absolutely delicious swiss food. A very intimate restaurant. There isn't a lot of seating and it's always packed. I would recommend making reservations. Great service as well!

One of the best meal experiences I've had in a long time. Quaint, cozy environment with homemade from scratch Swiss-European food. You could tell each dish was made with purpose and love. Took my Swiss father tonight and he said it was exactly like going back home again to Switzerland. He was so happy with not only the food, but also the kind, welcoming service. Don't expect to rush. This is a meal to sit and be Swiss... without rush and the time to spend enjoying the food and good company. We tried so many dishes and they were all excellent. Fondue was creamy with the perfect balance of emmentaler and garlic. The escargot was melt in your mouth and I wanted to drink the housemade garlic butter. Salads were crisp and refreshing (Swiss Martin's dressing is a favorite in our house) and fresh baked warm crackling bread can't be beat. The entrees were also amazing, bratwurst and gravy, spätzli, roasted chicken, beautifully sauced jägerschnitzel... everything was warm and comforting while still feeling elevated and refined. Surprisingly, nothing was heavy despite being European food. It was elegant and had delicious notes. Will definitely make this a regular meal for me and my family. Even though we were stuffed, we had to have dessert and were not disappointed. I will be dreaming about the Eis Kaffe. And my children had extra servings of their hot chocolate where the chocolate was melted fresh to order. Will frequent often and tell everyone I know!

My daughter and I had heard about this place and decided to try it last night. She had the scallops and I had the Emince Zurichoise. We split a house salad and the onion soup. The flavors were subtle and just right. It's so easy to get heavy handed with German food but not here. We will definitely be back.

My all time favorite go-to dining experience. This is a intimate location in the Alberta neighborhood ran and owned by two of the sweetest, hard-working ladies (Jennie and Tammy). I can honestly say every meal has been consistently, tasty, and oh so comforting. Our drinks we recommend are the dunkle beer for you dark beer lovers, my go to is the lemon radler so refreshing and pairs up perfectly with my meal. As your waiting for your starters you are served some perfectly toasted baguette pieces. Be sure to try both sauces that come with the bread. My fave is the spicy one. (Be sure to snag a bottle of Martins Dressing to take home because you will be craving it lol). My go-to items for starters is the Alpler Magronen or as my kids call it Swiss Mac-N-Cheese. I typically have the soup-du-jour, but on a nice chilly day splurge and try their Swiss Onion Soup its beefy, perfectly seasoned onion soup with toasted Swiss cheese is a must try. Always, checkout the specials board for more unique dishes that are rotated weekly. On this visit I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu, cooked perfectly crispy but still juicy upon cutting into it. My dining buddy got her favorite pork weinerschnitzel with buttery, fluffy spatzli, she always orders a side of the paprika mushroom cream sauce. My better half enjoyed his salmon with dill sauce from the specials menu. Anytime he see's its on special I can guarantee you he's ordering it. Last but not least we had the caramel custard (see pics). But I can say if you see the profiteroles on the menu get them( decadent whipped cream puffs with dark chocolate sauce). I highly recommend making reservations in advance just so you know for sure you gonna get your cravings satisfied. Happy Eatings!!

Enjoyed outdoor dining at Swiss Hibiscus -- the only Swiss restaurant in Portland. The owner, Tammy, is hands-on and perfectly ensured our meals and service were spot on. I had onion soup, coleslaw salad with their homemade sauce and Emince Zurichoise -- thinly sliced chicken, white wine, onions, mushrooms cream sauce and broccoli rabe. It was all delicious!

Make a reservation for this cozy place with a relaxing atmosphere and very delicious food. Staff is friendly and had great recommendations. First time I've ever had fondue and it did not disappoint. Don't leave without trying the raspberry tart.

My husband and I had reservations at Swiss Hibiscus during our recent Portland trip and we were pleasantly surprised by the charming atmosphere, friendly staff, and superb European food. We sat outside which was a great vibe for date night. I especially loved the wiener schnitzel, which I hadn’t had in ages, it felt like we were being served by family. We’d highly recommend this place to anyone!

Most of the food was very good. The fondue was fantastic. A few things were a bit off, the swedish hashbrowns were not good and the apple pie would have been okay if it had been served warm instead of cold. The service was amazing and I like the ambiance. They do need to clear the bathroom door so it is more accessible for a wheelchair.

A hidden gem! The foods here taste and similar to French dishes. They all have unique tastes and most likely not disappoint you (I’m picky when it comes to western dish). The owner was initially a chef in Hawaii then he opened his own restaurant. The service was definitely professional. I’d love to go back again and try some other dishes I haven’t tried the last time.

Wanted to go here for years and finally made it! All of our food was perfect. Service interaction was a little awkward with a mix of counter service and table service, but everyone was friendly. Will definitely be visiting again.

I’ve walked past this little spot on Alberta for years and never thought to try it until now. And boy have I’ve been missing out! The food is absolutely delicious: a soft warm roll with their signature house made sauces; crisp, fresh, and simple green salad; perfectly cooked chicken Wienerschnitzel with browned butter and lemon, served with warm Spätzli, which I had never tired before but loved; warm profiteroles that you’ll want to eat more of even though you’re full! I also appreciated the selection of Swiss wines, which is definitely something I haven’t seen on a menu before. All of this topped off with warm, kind, and friendly staff who are more than happy to answer questions and help you decide what to try. I am so glad I finally made the time to try this spot out; I can’t wait to come back and work through all the other items on the menu and try some of their specials! Don’t wait on this place like I did, you won’t regret spending an evening here.

What can I say except Swiss Hibiscus exceeded my expectations! When I found this restaurant for our vacation, it was because I was feeling cheese fondue for the evening. I found delicious cheese fondue, incredible entrees, dessert, and customer service! The restaurant setting is so cozy along with really nice employees. We ordered the escargot, cheese fondue, Swiss onion soup, spaghetti ticinese, and caramel custard for dessert. I recommend absolutely everything we ordered, especially the caramel custard!!! As a self proclaimed dessert expert, it was perfect. We also got some complimentary homemade holiday dessert made by the owner’s mother. How sweet was that? Will definitely be back next time we’re in Portland! Thank you Swiss Hibiscus and your lovely staff!

This place has a homely atmosphere. The staff are all pleasant and courteous. We had a glass of wine (Swiss Pinot Noir), the Swiss Onion Soup, the Jägerschnitzel w/Chanterdles (specials of the day), the Paprika Schnitzel and the Eis Kaffee (this is a like a coffee shake. (this is a dessert that is like a coffee shake). All were delicious and full of flavor. I would recommend it, but it is not a large restaurant with only 9 tables for two people. It is also open four days a week from 5:00 PM to 8:30 PM, so it is best to make a reservation.

Have wanted to try this place for awhile so was thrilled to get a reservation when I came ho town for the weekend. The Sauerbraten special tasted exactly like my German grandmother had prepared it. My friend declared the wiener schnitzel the best she’s ever had. We also had the fondue and it was fantastic. We walked out with a couple bottles of the fantastic salad dressing; hope I can order more online. Service was 5 star plus. Can’t wait to return.

This place was delicious! It is a must visit when coming to Portland! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. 10/10 would recommend. The dishes were unique and made extremely well! And their desert (the Coupe Denmark) was delicious. One of my favorite dishes was the sautéed mushroom. I would also recommend the Swiss onion soup!

Enjoyed the entire experience. Order before you sit. Warm bread with dipping sauces. Cabbage salad. Swiss influenced main course. All delicious and service was great!

9/16/2022: Such a cute spot and really nice service. Very friendly. The two of us ordered Swiss onion soup, Jaegerschnitzel with rosti, Osso Bucco with spaetzle, and an ice cream sandwich. Everything so delicious. The sauces we slightly had over salted. The schnitzel was a bit over done and wasn't breaded as I was expecting. The Swiss onion soup was delightful! Super yummy. Ice cream sandwich did not disappoint. That cookie was light and crumbly and held up to the ice cream. Will definitely go back.

Both of our servers were top notch. Very attentive, friendly and efficient. The food seems pricey but comes in very hearty portions. Everything we had was perfect. The escargot is highly recommend. We ordered so much food, that it left us no room for dessert. Ernesto, the neighborhood cat, provided much entertainment when dining al fresco.

Dinner at Swiss Hibiscus was incredible. We had the fondue as an appetizer which was delicious and a very generous portion. I had one of the specials, salmon with a creamy dill sauce. It was one of the best salmon dishes I've ever had. My spouse had the bratwurst which he loved and my father had the goulash, also incredible. You can't beat the quality of the food for the price. We loved every part of the experience and the service was perfect. They were training an individual that night who was new and a bit nervous and I hope he knows how good he did and how much we appreciated him and the team training him. Just all around great!

Food was great. Service was INCREDIBLE. Some of the best customer service I've ever had and I saw them do equally wonderful service with every single person that walked through the door.
