DO NOT STAY HERE AS A FEMALE SOLO TRAVELLER. I have been solo travelling for months and this is hands down the worst hostel I have ever stayed in. The hostel is full of old alcoholic men who behave extremely inappropriately and seem to be living there. I was watched in my sleep, made to feel extremely uncomfortable with staring and unwanted flirtation by the men staying there. The hostel needs to take better care of their female travellers because a lot of us felt extremely unsafe. There is also no kitchen and the only place to eat your own food is a stuffy, creepy little room up five flights of stairs. Overall terrible atmosphere and the staff are unhelpful when I approached them with my concerns.

Extremely nice people and very helpful. Plus points because we could leave the luggage in the storage for free. The double room was a bit hot, but in overall very spacious with a big bed and very clean. Just as a note, the 5 floors are reachable only with stairs, no lift.

Very nice staff, 24h checkout, nice bar. On the other hand, rooms are not amazing and the bathroom facilities could use a good cleaning. The dark paint in the rooms and hallways give the hostel interior a grumpy look.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed, affordable and in a decent location surrounded by public transport. Then what went wrong? The terrible fire alarm that went screeching in my room, tearing up my ear drums FOUR times during my stay. I stayed on the private room on ground floor. The first night went alright, but the second and third were awful. They claimed it was because of the shower, which for some reason is located right inside the room with no barrier, just near the smoke detector. I don't understand why the alarm didn't go off in the first night and I don't understand why it did go off twice while I was sleeping, waking me up some hours after my last shower. The staff is friendly but it did not manage to give my a proper solution. One false alarm is bad enough but it happens, four alarms cannot happen. It had to be fixed, and it wasn't.

Worst hotel experience I've ever had. The room was definitely not up to standards : you can't even stand straight in the room. The highest point of the ceiling is at like 1m60 !!! Is that even legal ? Also, it looked like a double bed on the picture ... but really it's just 2 single matresses directly laying on the dirty carpet floor ! Not hygienic at all ! Also the room is on the 5th floor with no elevator (2 flights of stairs per floor so that's 10 flights of stairs to climb), it'd be nice to know before booking. On top of that, no restrooms on that floor so you have to go down to go toilets, brush teeth or have a shower. What's more, toilets and showers were filthy. I suppose they don't employ enough staff compared to the number of guests... I do not recommend at all. By the way, the room we had was room 51... and it shouldn't be rented to guests, it should be what it's meant to be : a low ceiling, dark and small storage room

We had dinner at their fusion restaurant, but not used the hostel. The food was absolutely amazing and quite astonishing in this part of the city. We adored the polenta with asparagus, pickles, cauliflower purée and home made vegetable chips, that you see in my pictures. Impeccable and kind service, this hostal has a relaxed and alternative atmosphere that we liked a lot. Part of a group of 3 hostels (the other 2 are somewhere in the mountains of the region), it was a very good discovery. We're trying to book a room for this summer in their place in Val Thorens! 🫠

Hostel room was a bit too cramped, beds too thin and close together without privacy. Couldn’t move in the room without getting in someone’s way, made everyone seem awkward. When the bloke next to me snored I could hear it super clearly. Door security technology is simple yet I saw 3 other guests stuffing it up, and it took me a focussed minute to learn it. Chill room is a good idea, but dinky fridges and microwave; with no cutlery or cups freely available. Felt like an afterthought and owners would prefer you use their paid bar/restaurant. Area is close to many supermarkets, and lots of unsavoury people between hostel and la gare. Hostel was good for price but the accomodation doesn’t match the quality of Paris or greater France.

It's a decent hostel with a nice common area where you can food and drinks. The staff is helpful too but when I was there, the lights on the floor of my dorm room were out which made the experience quite uncomfortable. Everyone had to use a flashlight to go use the bathroom or just walk around on the floor. That was a big downside.

Coolest hostel I've ever been to. The lounge is awesome, and has a very young/laidback vibe to it. People are friendly (both staff and those staying). Beds were comfortable, and even though the beds do not have curtains, I felt like I had my privacy. I'd definitely stay here again.

My friend and I booked this place as a part of a larger European trip. Given the price, we did not expect anything too nice. However, we were so disappointed to see the tiny dirty room, with stains all over the place. The images on the website and that had been sent in our confirmation email were completely different to what we saw. The overhead lights didn't work, and it was 32 degrees with no fan or air conditioning. We had realistic expectations, however unfortunately this place did not exceed or even match them. We had to leave within a few hours. Its a pity as the receptionist was very friendly.

I stayed for 4 days in the girls bunks here & loved it! The staff were all super friendly. The beds were comfy & the showers were clean. Lots of cafes & bars around the area & the hostel bar is really nice. The only negative is that it was a bit dark in the hallways & inside the rooms. As a solo female traveller I felt very safe here :)

Great area, the service was very friendly and helpful some of the best I’ve experienced in France. No air conditioning or fans in the room so it was really hot. The room was relatively clean the bed sheets were very fresh. Overall good experience maybe a little pricey.

The place was sending a bad vibe overall, it had undity rooms and bathrooms that were never cleaned in the 3 days stay I had and everything seemed old and decaying. The locks on the doors were working, but they looked like they were going to fall any minute, the windows roller shutters were broken, so in the morning our room was flooded with light. For the expensive price, I wouldn't recomend it. The receptionists were nice and spoke a nice english, which is not common in France. Also, the neighbourhood was't good.

I had a bed in the women's dorm in October. Ok for one night or a weekend. Affordable, good location, friendly people that speak English. However, one of the women's toilets had no light and at the time they couldn't fix it, while the other toilet was dirty and unusable. Otherwise the place was clean and neat. Maybe I was unlucky, but this point was important for me, hence the rating. I could stand it for one night but I was glad it was only one night. I'd probably recommend, if you travel light, plan to be all day out and about and only need a bed to sleep -that's basically its purpose anyway. The location is pretty good and my co-travelers (that slept in men's dorms and private rooms) didn't have complains about the cleanliness.

You can always hear the sound from your neighbors opening and closing the door. No idea how it can happen without anti-noise design.

Great stay! Service was nice and super welcoming! Great option to have two persons bedroom with one bunk bed only, really enjoyable. Space is very cute and nice location also. Strongly recommend for a weekend in Lyon!

DO NOT BOOK IN THIS HOSTEL! Nobody will not contact you if you are in difficulties - they will double sell the bed and reject your checkin in the middle of a night. Chronology of events: 1. I have booked a bed for Monday, 2. I have added another day, Tuesday, 3. I couldn’t come on Monday, 4. After long working day I came on Tuesday, 5. Hotel rejected me, saying I didn’t come on Monday, 6. The sold again my bed to someone else 7. Staff member left terminating conversation 8. I stayed on the road at 23h30 Booking doesn’t take responsibility, claiming policies. It’s just a business to make money. They will my bed was sold again just because they sensed opportunity. If they cared they would have called me asking if I was ok. It deserves 1 star, and policy change because it isn’t ethical. Reception didn’t want to discuss and arguments given were personal not professional - trying to make me feel guilty for that people wait for a bed while I was trying to save my night or that the person has finished his work after not being able to help me and after 30 min of argument trying to get rid of me offering refund!

I stayed in the accommodation in August. The staff was nice the room was okay but the location really sucks. I am an Asian woman and I got offended 10 times in one day especially when I walked down the street to the hostel since Rone River. This hostel is nice but I don’t recommend it to women. I felt unsafe.

Quiet neat and budget friendly rooms. Bunk beds are clean with storage space. Bathrooms are sufficient for a quick bath though it's not properly ventilated. Loved the ambience in the ground floor cafe/bar.

Stayed here for 3 nights and did not enjoy my stay. Super squeaky beds and lockers, got bit overnight from bugs where I couldn’t sleep, and no real common room for meeting people. The door to enter the room would make so much noise that it would wake everyone up even if you were trying to be quiet. There was also a lack for laundry and kitchen and no elevator to go to my room. From a long day visiting the beautiful city of Lyon, the last thing I want once I arrive is to climb 4 floors to reach my room. As a solo traveler I expected a lot more from this hostel especially for its high ratings. If you need a place to just sleep this might be the place for you but I would suggest staying elsewhere that can offer more amenities.

The rooms are very neat and they also have a chill room where you could hang out if you want to spend time in the hostel but don't want to be stuck in your room all day. The downside is they don't have an elevator and for me I usually prefer a hostel with a stove in the kitchen. Otherwise it's not bad and very affordable

Really lovely, friendly hostel in Lyon. Our room was great, staff were really helpful. Was a great vantage point from which to explore Lyon - we walked everywhere really! Only doesn't have 5 stars because the kitchen facilities aren't great if you want to eat your own food. There's a small fridge and microwave in the common room (5th floor!) but you've got to ask at the bar on the ground floor for any crockery or cutlery. Other than that, top time 👍🏼

The rockabilly haircut girl who "welcomed" me seemed to be having a terrible day during each of our interactions from check-in to questions during my stay (I'm inclined to think micro-aggression bc she was much friendlier/warmer to the white guests). During check-out she was still cold but more polite, I think it's because there were other staff present witnessing the interaction but who knows. Someone on trip advisor mentioned rat traps and I didn't believe until I saw them with my very own eyeballs, luckily (?) There weren't any prey inside. You don't have to pay for the showers which was nice and there was always hot water. The bathrooms are mostly clean but there is was a funky smell in the dorm. There is no kitchen and they asked that we not eat or drink in the room. Even though the hostel is centrally located and very cheap, I would not go back here.

A great location with it being in the middle of the city. You may find many staying temporarily for work. A nice design.

The place is fine, however there are too many beds in one room. For this amount of bed places there should be definitely more space

The service and location is really great. Everyone speaks english and french which is really great. Rooms, beds, shower and toilet are okay at most. So if you are looking for a cheap place to stay and dont have any strong need for comfort go for it. For me the worst hostel comfort so far. Besides that staff is friendly and the location is really great.

I had a double room. The Hotel staff were extremely friendly (and all speak great English). The breakfast was lovely but even if you order and pay for it - you still need to order each night before. I unfortunately didn't know this - so, I paid for it, but didn't get it one morning. The room was as described. Keep in mind no Air conditioning. It was clean but needs some renovations - the carpet is full of stains and 'stuff'. Bed sheets, towels and bathroom very clean. The internet is terrible - it's not useable. If you need internet (i did) wouldn't advise this hotel. It was bad in the room and in the bar/restaurant. All in all, value for money.

Absolutely stunning hostel. I've traveled many places And almost always stay in hostels and this one ranks fairly high among the dozens I've been in. Only drawback is the absence of a lift so carrying large bags upstairs can be a pain. Rooms are very well done with spacious below-bed storage. Showers/toilets were impeccably clean and the showers even had quality shampoo/soap in dispensers which is a rarity for hostels. The bar area is lovely, food/drinks are very reasonable. I also really enjoyed the wristband system for key entry.

I recommand this hostel, very comfy and clean, the hosts are very kind. I suggest to add curtains to have bit more privacy in the bed area. But overally good

Is a really nice hotel, I stayed in a double room with private bathroom. I love the vibe, the bar downstairs and the chilled atmosphere. Amazing relationship price vs room size and bathroom quality. The Wi-Fi can be improved, but 4g is everywhere in the city centre. Will come back. Thanks to the staff

  • 1/5 Dustin S. 1 year ago on Google
Horrible. The staff is not helpful and the doors don’t work. I spent most of my time trying to get the doors to work. Absolutely horrifying to have to have a roommate come and open the door at midnight. Do not stay here. Simple as that.

Really no fuss place. There's no lift for big luggage, but there are lockers downstairs. Staff are mad cool, decent location, great facilities

Attentive staff speaking many languages and make you feels as a Local. Rooms restrooms very clean. Have been using Lyon and this oasis to explore the Rhone area.

Quite a nice hostel, so for sure worth a stay. Not really the cosiest I've visited though. The main communal area is just the bar downstairs. Everything was very clean and we'll ordered. I have to say that the personal was in general not that inviting honestly. They were polite, but most of the time they seemed annoyed or acted as if I was asking something weird, when I just came to them with some very basic questions (like just to order a drink or something). At first I was wondering if it was just me, but my roommates told me they had the same experience. But all in all a fine experience, I met some great people there.

I spent 2 days in a mixed dorm. First time I felt uncomfortable with this decision. The room was extremely small, theres no space to put your clothes etc. I had to buy a lock at the reception for 4€ to lock my stuff away.

It has been just one night, everything was standard and mate my expectations, nothing let me say wow...

👍 Nice experience in this new restaurant. Gentle staff, there is a nice feeling. I recommend the salads which are super tasty and creative. Could not experience the fresh juice as the restaurant seems to have some teething problems but I will come back in a few weeks to try more.
