I tried dinning in at Lua tonight. It took them 15 minutes to bring the drinks and that was the first sign of things to come. The first plate of food (Cha Gio Tom & Heo) came out 42 minutes after the order was placed. It then took another 8 minutes for the second plate. When the final plate came out it was over 1 hour 10 minutes after it was ordered. All would be understandable but not one dish came out hot, and most were room temperature at best.

Lúa is absolutely incredible, I can't get enough of the tofu buns. If you haven't gone here, it's highly recommended that you give it a try. You do not have Phō, But after eating Phō and then trying this place, I'd rather go here than anywhere else. The drinks are incredible, and if you really want a unique experience, you can get a durian smoothie. If you've never had during them before, it tastes like fruity onion. It's way more refreshing than that might sound and it's highly recommended if you're really looking for an experience.

10/10. The food was better than what you see in the photos. Seriously top tier Vietnamese food. Try the colorful mixed drinks. I didn't get photos of everything because we just ate and drank too fast. If you go after reading this, tell them Kevin's friend sent you.

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. Their food is always amazing, service is incredible, and overall they're phenomenal. I normally get take out, but I go in and order, then order happy hour while I'm waiting on my food. Everything is fantastic, but these wings will change your life, and their steamed buns are out of this world.

Incredible food and an impressive happy hour from 2-5 with $3 sliders! We tried their dumpling week dumplings which were coated in a chunky spicy chili sauce that I'd want to take a bottle of to go. Also tried the Banh Boa which was a fried chicken thigh in a steamed bun, like a taco with banh mi fixings and a sweet chili sauce, then had the Banh Mi sliders, also with fried chicken thighs. As a banh mi lover, I was completely satisfied with their rendition. Only downside was the time it took to get all three dishes: they came out one at a time and about seven to ten minutes between each. Still, the quality was so incredible, this place deserves all five stars. The restaurant is still in its "soft opening" phase, so I guess just keep that in mind. Not a single complaint about the food though and the staff was super friendly. You gotta try this spot!

Our new favorite restaurant on Williams! Lúa serves their Vietnamese food tapas style which makes it fun to try a variety of foods. They also make their boba in-house. Everything we had was good. The standout dish were the chicken wings! We tried the tamarind and fish sauce wings and they were equally tasty! The wings come out huge, crispy, and full of flavor! We heard Lúa hopes to expand their menu to include soups! Cannot wait!

Service with a smile. Perfect rice. Cool water jug thingies? Incredibly fresh salad rolls. Tasty lemon grass chicken. Give this place a try you won’t regret it!

Had the bbq pork and crispy pork belly dry noodles and the chicken wings for dinner. Service was great but the crispy pork belly meat was a tad too chewy for my liking. Perhaps this is just a difference in how this is prepared in Vietnamese cuisine vs what I am accustomed to with Chinese BBQ meats, but the latter typically just breaks apart with little chewing effort. The staff is friendly, but the ambience indoors is a little odd. The restaurant ceiling lights are mounted with Philips Hues that rotate thru different colors. I get what the restaurant is going for — they want to recreate the atmosphere of eating on the streets of vietnam with neon lights flashing all around you. I get it — and I think the idea is great. But my recommendation to the restaurant is to use hard transitions between colors to recreate that vibe. The slow transition between the colors of the rainbow is just weird and makes it hard for you to appreciate what you’re eating…after all, we do eat with our eyes!

My friend and I were in Portland this past week and had restaurants that we wanted to visit on our list. This restaurant was not on our list, but due to convenience, we ended up here. We both ordered the butterfly shrimp Bahn mi and it ended up being the best Bahn mi we had! The shrimp was hot and crispy and everything within the Bahn mi, from the sauce to the Serrano peppers worked perfectly together. In one order, you get two mini Bahn mis for about 15 dollars, which is not a bad deal!

This is an exceptional experience. The food tastes amazing and is well priced for its quality (we spent extra on smoothies). They don't have pho, but if you're open to banh mi, vermicelli and rice bowls this is the place to go.

Delicious food and gluten free options available! I had the Cánh Gà Chiên Nước Mắm - Fish Sauce Fried Chicken Wings, Cánh Gà Chiên Rang Tỏi Tiêu - Garlic Pepper Fried Chicken Wings, and the Nước Dừa Tác - Coconut Kumquat drink. Fish sauce wings were delicious, a little sweeter than the OG Pok Pok fish sauce wings. Coated in a caramelized fish sauce. The garlic pepper ones were crispy, also delicious, and didn’t have a sauce on top, making it a little cleaner to eat with your hands. The kumquat drink was very refreshing and pleasant. Please note it’s really sweet!

The wonton was really good. There was only 1 server in the whole restaurant. He was very nice and was very quick even when serving the whole restaurant. The only problem was how hot the wonton was. I had to wait 20 minutes for the food to cool down without burning my mouth. I’m not a fan of the menu as you have to scan a QR code on your phone to view it. Other than that this is a very good Vietnamese restaurant with great service.

I constantly think about the crispy pork belly from here. Whether you have it as a side, with noodles, in a rice bowl, in a salad roll, it is just the best! Juicy flavorful meat with perfectly crispy skin. I'll try something else here eventually, but I'll keep coming back for the crispy pork belly!

Vietnamese person here - Love the Bun Thit Nuong at Lua especially the ability to add whatever extras I want. The atmosphere is chill and i love not having to drive all the way out to 82nd to get a solid bowl of fresh noodles. I love that they have the outdoor option so we are able to bring our dog. Great and friendly staff definitely felt welcome and warm.

Great flavor on lemongrass chicken. Got the thin noodles dish, yum! Nice people/staff. Would come back again. Feels spacious inside also outdoor parklets too.

We are visiting from Seattle and we ordered takeout for my mom’s birthday and Lúa exceeded our expectations! The food was beyond amazing and they included a sweet birthday treat for my mom and she was so happy ❤️ definitely plan to visit again next time we come back to Portland!!!

My brother and I stopped in early yesterday evening for a bite to eat. The place was well lit, clean and smelled great. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was excellent. Fresh and delicious. The portion was perfect. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but honestly, the food was well worth it. My only complaint, was finding parking along Williams.

Great concept, service is attentive. The pork belly was a bit dry but the chicken wings and pandan waffle were 👍🏼. Ambience could be improved - the lights kept changing color from red to yellow to pink to blue to purple (you name it) which made it very distracting to dine-in and it’s not appetizing to look at purple meat when eating

Amazing food we had at Lua. My vegan dishes were awesome, great tofu banh bao, the rolls and everything else that we tried. Loved the Vietnamese IPA as well. 100% recommended
