Restaurant Bukowina was an absolutely amazing dining experience in Vienna and you should totally go. It is overall inexpensive. The service is phenomenal. The portion size is really nice. The donuts were huge but really really good - very good for sharing between 2-3 people. You really cannot go wrong with anything on the menu, the views around the restaurant are really pretty too. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is a bathroom too. Certainly go to Restaurant Bukowina

Since we arrived at this restaurant we felt truly comfortable. They received and attended us so kindly. We never tasted Romanian food since finding this place and we were amazed about it. Everything was delicious but it tasted even better because of the excellent treatment! If one day we decide to return to Vienna we'll comeback for sure to Bukowina!!

I arrived at Vienna late night and tried to have light dinner. The restaurant has a good atmosphere and serves authentic Romanian cuisine ranging from light meal to heavy. The soup with honeycomb tripe is outstanding (strongly recommend to put garlic if you don't mind...). Three optional appetizers out of nine or more are all good but the best is the sausage. If you want try with as many as Romanian authentic dishes, here is the best choice in city center of Vienna.

The food was fantastic and the portion was quite generous. As a romanian dude myself I had mixed feelings but was excited to try this restaurant. I am happy we did try it! The food was fantastic, the waiting time was not that long and the staff was fun and happy. Now, about the food... As main dish, I had the slow cooked white beans stew with romanian country side sausages. The flavour is intense and worth a try! It comes with a side of pollenta and a small white cabbage salad. It was not oily even though some foods have a lot of melted fat from the meats. My wife had the "sarmale de post". This dish is vegan and is basically cabbage rolls (Sauerkraut) filled with mushroom, rice and some other diced veggies. This is also a slow cooked dish with a huge prep time so it's nice to eat it at a proper restaurant. The desert is a MUST try. It is called "Papanasi". It is romanian fried dough with cherry jam and cream. The fried dough has cottage cheese in it's composition giving it it's unique flavour. I hope this info helps! Food 5/5, Service 5/5 price range €€-€€€

I was a little wary this would be a tourist trap but worry should I have not. Great place with Romanian food which tastes and looked very authentic. Kind service. Good prices. Good portion sizes. Veggie and vegan friendly. Quiet side road. Very happy with our meal. We were so hungry that we didn't take any pictures.

We felt great, the food and drinks were very tasty, and the serving was very professional. Totally recommended for anyone who wants to try Romanian-Moldavian traditional food and drinks. Also, the papanași are fabulous! Tip: check the weekly or seasonal menus as you might have some awesome surprises.

I recently dined at this Eastern European restaurant while in search of a quick dinner before a flight. Our experience was nothing short of delightful. We decided to sample a variety of dishes, opting for a family-style dining approach, and were pleasantly surprised. First, we savored the kompot, a homemade Eastern European fruit punch, which was made from sour cherries, a rarity in the US. Moving on to the appetizers, the potato pancakes, though a bit thicker than expected, were scrumptious, similar to American hash browns. My 9-year-old son devoured two plates of the cabbage rolls. Our journey continued with the polenta paired with mushrooms, a chicken dish, and spaetzle. The spaetzle, in particular, stood out as a refined version of Mac and cheese, elevating comfort food to another level. My 7 year old daughter absolutely enjoyed it!! Throughout the meal, the service was exceptional, adding to the overall positive experience. In summary, if you're seeking Eastern European cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere with attentive service, I highly recommend this restaurant. The unique flavors and family-style dining make it a memorable culinary stop.

My wife and I found it by accident, as part of an evening walk. We were not disappointed and we highly recommend it. Warm and cordial people, excellent food, patience and excellent service. As soon as you enter the restaurant you get an atmosphere of home. The restaurant is neither polished nor monochromatic, and creates an atmosphere of home. Its location, "isolated" from the crowded and loud tourism scene of the region, is actually an advantage. Enjoy the quiet and a good meal. Ask the kind lady to recommend a Romanian red wine, you won't be disappointed. Less recommended is the "typical Romanian" dessert which contains 3 donuts with cream and jam. It's not bad, but we weren't enthusiastic about it. In short - a recommended restaurant!

Lovely restaurant in the city centre. Affordable prices, and huge portions (thank god we didn’t order appetizers). Lemonades were also huge, but the after taste was a bit funky for my taste.

I had this restaurant on my list for a while and we finally had the opportunity to visit! We went for an early dinner on a Friday evening so it was not so busy. Bonus! From the moment we walked in we felt like we were family. The waiter was fantastic - very accommodating and attentive. He spoke in German at first, which my husband can speak decently, but then noticed us speaking English between ourselves so he switched to perfect English! Not only was he kind, but also incredibly soft-spoken and caring towards his customers. A rarity these days. The food I cannot rave enough about. We started with the Cevapcici, meat sausages with mustard and bread (homemade!). Absolutely flavorful and a delight for the taste buds! My husband had the roast chicken with garlic and polenta - so creamy, yet light and full of flavor. The polenta was the creamiest I'd ever had! I opted for the zucchini and potato strudel with yogurt dressing. Wow. It was absolutely a stunning combination. Plus, there were roasted pumpkin seeds on top, which gave a perfect texture combination. *chefs kiss* From the service to the food to the ambiance of this wonderful restaurant, I would say it's absolutely by far one of the best places to eat in all of Vienna. A must try when visiting or if you live here (as we do). We will absolutely be back and will recommend it to all our friends!

Sadly you can tell that the food is pre made but it's still okay. The place is in the tourist bubble of central Vienna. The service we got was way beyond expectation a the lady serving us was super friendly and she alone is worth the visit. Also the outdoor seating is in a charming smal pedestrian street.

Quiet restaurant in the center of Vienna offering typical Romanian cuisine. The dishes are fine, the service is impeccable and the price is affordable. Underrated and little frequented, but highly recommended.

Great Romanian restaurant. Traditional food just like home. This is a family operated place, the owner is very kind and helpful. Don't skip the Papanash. It's made fresh and it's amazing.
