Café Museum is a cozy and nice café place for a breakfast. The overall experience at this location was good, with a pleasant atmosphere and tasty dishes. The standout dishes were the eggs Benedict and scrambled eggs. The coffee was generally good, but the hot cocoa was a bit bitter. The fries were not fully cooked. One pro of dining at Café Museum is the friendly service. However, the restaurant can get a bit crowded, especially in the morning. Another con was that when the eggs Benedict were not prepared correctly, the waiter was not able to replace them because they were out of eggs. Overall, Café Museum is a good café with tasty dishes and a pleasant atmosphere. The service is friendly, but there are a few minor issues with the food.

Enjoyed a very nice stop here for coffee and beer during a recent visit to Vienna. Originally opened in 1899, this is a classic Viennese cafe. I loved the atmosphere of the indoor dining area. Ottakring beer tasted as expected. The Einspanner coffee was excellent. Very good espresso with plenty of whipped cream, mixed perfectly and taste great.

Classic Viennese coffee house. We went for breakfast: one order of Austrian breakfast (perfect soft boiled egg, 2 big rolls, butter and yummy apricot jam) and one order of Kaiserschramm (scrambled pancakes sprinkled with powdered sugar and with apple sauce and strawberry compote on the side for dipping). Along with a Melange (local style of coffee similar to a cappuccino) and Rioboos pot of tea, tab was 40e including tip Friendly efficient service.

Wonderful restaurant. The service was brilliant, was quick to deliver and the food was great. Big portions that were reasonably priced. The wine was good value and high quality. The apple strudel and Wiener schnitzel were great. Live piano music during the evenings which add to the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

Probably Vienna's most famous cafe situated just off the Ring on Operngasse, and a regular hang out in the past for some of Vienna's most famous sons. There's an interesting food and dessert menu here and plenty of drinks on offer. Beautiful decor inside, mixing the new with the old. In the summer there is quite a lot of seating outside along one side of the cafe where you can sit and watch the world go by. I had a black tea and Apple strudel with vanilla sauce and that came to €12.90.

Encouraged by the history and recommendations of YouTubers, we went to this cafe. Delicious coffee, strudel and sacher cake correct, but not delicious. Waiter not very nice. Cosmic prices compared to other cafes in the old town.

I went here for a late lunch around 4pm. I had a small portion of goulash and an apple strudel. Both were great! I really enjoyed my lunch here. The waiters were very friendly and they spoke very good English. It seemed like they're all having so much fun, just randomly singing or dancing while working. The atmosphere was relaxed 🙂 and the place wasn't very crowded at the time I was there. The interior feels a bit dated, but cozy. There are electricity outlets at the booths, a life saver if your battery is dead after a long day in the city.

Still the best Café in Vienna. 😍 ..even the "typical grumpy Viennese" service got softer, sweeter since I been last time. The live piano music gave a special vibe to the exquisite interior design too. The only thing I was missing from this sweetest time travel, was the vegan milk. Having milk allergy, couldn't enjoy the Viennese coffee creations....but luckily the cakes were consoling me. 😊

No visit to Vienna is complete without lingering a while in one of its famous coffee houses - Café Museum bring one of them. They serve traditional coffee variations and deliver impeccable service. Although sitting outside might be tempting in summertime, make sure to check out their classic interior design.

Nice cafe in the city centre. Immediately outside of the Karlsplatz U Bahn station along Friedrichstrasse. Was my pitstop before heading to Belvedere Palace which is a 15 mins tram ride from this location. Coffee was great as well as the breakfast Semmel I had. Didn't try the cakes but they looked delicious with a wide variety available. Outdoor seating is lovely and spacious. Drop by for a meal, slice of cake or just a coffee.

Sacher cake was good, but not original (it was without the seal). Wine was great. But the service could be better - we came 40 minutes before closing and the waiters just pretended not to see us. When we boldly took a menu from another table, they disappeared inside like if they wanted to avoid us or just loose time to be later able to reject more difficult options because of the time. As mentioned, wine and cake was good and we got it quite quickly, but the waiter didn't come back to ask if we want something else.

Great café! The food and coffee were delicious and beautifully served, the personnel were very welcoming and professional. I was a tourist and I visited the place twice during my 3-day trip - instead of trying out some other places for lunch - that’s how much I enjoyed Cafe Museum ;). Another excellent thing was that locals also come to the café for a chat, or to read newspapers. This atmosphere also made me feel welcome 😊 Tip: I highly recommend the lunch menu. Super delicious and reasonably priced!

Commercial atmosphere with mediocre food. Stopped by for a quick break and while the gluhwein and cappuccino were good, the food was mixed. The goulash beef was dried out and tough. The beef broth soup was good but the bread was stale. The raspberry cheesecake tasted like a dense brick. Not a good value relative to the prices.

While the food was delicious, what made our experience a fantastic one was the venue itself. The space is stylish and its decor was exactly as what I would have imagined a Viennese café to be. The staff were very efficient and it was obvious they were professionals. Loved our experience here!

Wonderful cafe, nice outdoor seating area (indoors is very Viennese with red velvet) centrally located outside the Karlsplatz U-bahn station. Ate here 3 times for lunch, dinner and coffee/dessert: everything is delicious, with helpful waitstaff. They have some English titled menus upon request. The strawberry shortcake was something we didn’t find elsewhere in cafes with meals.

Attracted by the location and classic interior - but VERY DISAPPOINTED with the service, the food and the coffee which btw had astronomical prices, compared to other places in town. The pastry looks good from far, but is far from good, and not fresh at all. We waited for a simple eggs&ham breakfast for almost half an hour, and even then wasn't served all at the same time, for all of us.. Again, very disappointed with this place. :(

Delicious food and excellent service. The waiter helped me choose and gave great recommendations. I had a green salad with sheep's milk cheese, pomegranate seeds, roasted pumpkin and prosciutto and hazelnut cake for dessert. One of the best salads I've ever had. A little pricey but totally worth it for such yummy food and nice ambiance.

We stopped at Cafe Museum for breakfast during our stay in Vienna and I can easily say it was the best dine-in experience we had during our time here. The staff were extremely helpful, polite, and the food was excellent! We ordered the Viennese breakfast and the Eggs Hemingway. For added context, over the course of 4 days in Vienna, we visited several other restaurants and cafe's, almost all of which had rude or inattentive wait staff. Even our tour guide mentioned that's normal for wait staff in Vienna, yet it was rather upsetting when all we wanted to do was sit down and enjoy a nice meal. When we had such a pleasant visit at Cafe Museum, made sure to leave this review to let others know! Highly recommend you give them a visit.

We have visited the cafeteria for second time. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is good. The thing which can be better is the service. Although the waiters are dressed up fancy they drop forks and plates. The noise from their service is bad. They have left all dirty plates on the table until I have requested to service the table. The caffe was not that full to not be able to do it on time. Overall a good experience.

Nice place! Went here for lunch on our last day in Vienna. The service was great, all the staff were working really hard. I had the pumpkin risotto which is one of their seasonal dishes and the kaiserschmarrn for dessert and both were delicious! I also tasted some of my friends mushroom pasta dish and it was great too. Maybe a little expensive compared to some other places but the food was tasty so I would recommend a visit.

There was a piano playing in the cafe when we were there. An elderly pianist was going through the old and new pieces in his (I suppose) interpretation. He talked to the visitors sitting near and some girl even joined for a 4 hands piece. A young waiter serving us greatly added to the atmosphere too. He was wearing oldfashined curling mustache (seemed his own). His mannerism reminded 1920s or something, I am not entirely sure it was acting, he was great. The cafe design (furniture in red, lampshades,..) all contributed to the very calm, somewhat oldfashioned but yet very current atmosphere of the cafe. Someone even said it's the best ever cafe they visited so far. The food is good. Some of the cafes in this style sell cakes that only loook delicate, this one is better in this sence. European cakes were alright. See detailed photoes attached. Well worth a visit.

Cafe from heaven! Great breakfast: scrambled egg with blood sausage. For me, soft boiled egg with avocado. The egg shell removed, sitting in the nest of the avocado. The coffee, as usual, the best!

Highly recommend it for breakfast. Eggs Hemingway could be cooked a bit shorter, the yolk was not runny enough but I believe it's up to a preference. Vienna breakfast is quite small, but a portion seems to be enough if paired with a coffee. Good service and location.

  • 4/5 Norbert S. 1 year ago on Google
Probably one of the fancier cafes in the center of Vienna. The food and drinks are exquisite, and the interior is "fancy 80s" with lots of dark wood and red plush. We were not super happy with the service though: at busy hours, we would have expected to be greeted and led to a free table by a waiter. Instead, we had to break up a group discussion of the staff to be pointed to a seat. Then the service was all right, but we did feel somewhat unwelcome, which was unusual in a fancy-looking place like this.

  • 5/5 Wong F. 2 years ago on Google
I was not expecting much as I saw many poor reviews in regards to their poor service. Still, I went ahead and gave them a try. It was around 11:30 am on a Tuesday, after a visit to the Sessesion. Due to Covid-19 measures I had to have my vaccination status checked. After that, the service was warm and efficient. Reslly enjoyed the atmosphere of he cafe and the excellent food they serve. This is, in fact, one of my best cafe experiences in my entire trip to Austria! The trick is to go at a not so busy time if u can, it's really much better.

Very pleasant and relaxed cafe. Here you will find 90% locals. Waiters are friendly and can speak English. It is here that I learned that many famous Austrian poets, writers went to these cafe houses during cold winter days. They didn’t sit at the cafes to get their inspiration from. They did so because heating during winter times were expensive and they didn’t have the money to heat their homes. Thus, they spent much of their days writing in Cafés because it was warm and cheap.

Great service and excellent quality of cakes, pastries and beverages. Comfortable seating, less crowded than other more popular cafes in Vienna. They have good-value breakfasts.
