This was my first time in Maschu Maschu, and as an employee in gastronomy I know what is a great service. Unfortunately don't expect anything here. I am deeply disappointed. 1) Service I was waiting 20 minutes after receiving my drink for the waiter to come so I can order the food. Other table that came 15 minutes after me, had already their dishes on the table, while I was still waiting for him to come. This is the first time that a waitress came to me and asked me to pay before receiving the food. This is supposed to be a restaurant, where you pay when you are ready to leave, not when u place your order. Im just speechless. (everyone else paid when they were leaving). 30 minutes and still nobody takes away my finished plate. And 4 employees behind the counter doing nothing and talking to each other. 2) Hygiene At the station where your pita is being prepared, employee with no PFF2 mask on, no hand gloves (he is touching you pita with his bare hands and then cleaning his glasses and checking his phone), waitresses as well, working with cards, money and then preparing your pita without any hand gloves. This is just horrible!! 3) Food When the food arrived It looked exciting, Pita Falafel (6 Euro) and Maschu Grillplatte (21 Euro). Pita Falafel was huge, but cold, for that price I was expecting much more! The Melanzani Mix inside was horribly cold, like straight from the fridge. I understand that they need to store it, but when you get warm falafel and cold melanzani mix inside, that Is a huge NO! Falafel had literally no spices added, it was falling apart and not tasty at all. Maschu Grillplatte, consisted of one chicken breast skewer, two lamb chops, one beef Laibchen, some potatoes wedges and two sauces. Chicken Skewer, was disgusting, it tasted bad!! No chance I would continue eating that. Lamb chops, completely dry, no juices.but at least something you can eventually eat. The Beef Laibchen- just no comment, no taste and totally dry. Salad that came with it was the same thing you have in Pita, just with 5 cherry tomatoes and balsamic on the top. If you are expecting something form this place, DON'T!!! Never ever will I come here again.

They claim to have the best falafel in town and I think I would correct it to one of the best not the best. The falafel 🧆 comes fresh and well done 👍 though I still believe NINO in the 9th district has got the best falafel in town. The falafel sandwich 🥪 and wrap 🌯 comes at a higher price 6.5 and 7.5 respectively and is loaded with sauce from an aubergine 🍆 for what it's worth, get the wrap, it is much larger for that 1 extra euro. There is no doubt that it's really good and I really appreciate that this is a restaurant which hasn't got a vibe of a kebab place but an "actual" restaurant where you sit down, eat in and enjoy the evening not needing to worry about breaking your wallet if you choose the cheaper dishes, they deserve 5 stars for that. The service was a bit hectic but nice 👍. I would consider coming here again. Cards are accepted.

Interesting menu they serve Falafel dishes in various formats, in addition to other meat dishes. We had high expectations based on reviews but the Falafel was below average. The service was really rude.

Nice food, but I wasn't impressed with the service. Dining with my 8-y-o grandchild… Child looked at the menu and said "Can I have pancakes" ("Palatschinken" in Austrian). "With avocado". When she asked the waiter he said "No.… Pancakes are sweet, you can't have avocado on them." "But you have other dishes with avocado", pointed out her dad. "It's not on the menu!". Eventually, grudgingly, "OK, I'll go and ask", followed eventually by "OK, but it will be €2 extra…"

Nothing bad with the food, nor anything to return for a 2nd meal. Let you decide for yourselves, but for me the experience was not quite great because: - waiter seemed tired or purely distracted - ordered 3 snitzel, got only one - ordered tap water for all 4, got only 1 glass - tips pushing, something I really hate (have been asked 3 times "no tips?") - have asked for an invoice and got the card payment confirmation. Asked again for the "itemised invoice" and I have been ignored initially than, been offered what I needed but machine broke, and no one bothered to help me out with a new invoice print, even when I specified I need it for claiming the expense. As I said, overall food was not bad, not was it extra special. Hope this was just an expectation as judging by the multiple reviews here, this seems to be a good spot. PS: as mostly everywhere in Vienna, come with Cash (seem there is a common hate against card payments)

Bread is not only thin but also tenacity. Lots of hummus and they're smooth. Very delicious eggplant sauce. Good price like always.

Friendly and welcoming staff. Great atmosphere. Best falafel I had so far in Vienna! We ordered food for 40€ and it was worth it. Everything was fresh. Menu also included great vegetarian options. I would reccommend!

A consistently good falafel restaurant. I have been eating at Maschu Maschu for a long time and it is always very good. Fresh ingredients, reasonable prices and most importantly tasty food. My tip, go for the mixed teller:)

If you managed to get a communication with the waiters then it seems to be a good starting! A lot of fried food. The falafel pie is not bad. After three attempts they finally deliver the correct beer... no kidding!!!

This place is a great place. I find the Tortilla with the meat to be absolutely fantastic and enough food for one. That's a reasonable price for such high quality. The service was super friendly. The POS machine was a bit complex for our waiter but we got there in the end... I just ended up giving a tip of 0,5 instead of 1 as I had asked. Very tasty! Good Value! Friendly Staff! Would recommend!

Absolutely love this place! The falafel is fresh and flavorful, and the hummus is to die for. The service is also excellent, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a great falafel experience.

It's always a good place to end up for a meal any time of the day.. Great food, very friendly staff... Super nice owner.... 👌.... They also have a party room in the basement.. With a bar, band stand with a piano and sounds for a small band. Looks ideal for a small private party 🥳...

A good choice for falafel and shawarma in Vienna! We stopped in last summer for lunch. I got the mixed plate and my friend got the falafel pita. Both were really tasty. Mine could have been enhanced with some spice but overall it tasted good. The service was okay, but it was pretty busy to be fair.

Lovely seats in the sun, good continuous service without being disruptive. Food was well priced, plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Falafel bowl was delicious, maybe a bit too much chickpeas texture-wise but loved the dish as a whole. Burger looked and smelled awesome, fries were nice with nice dip. Good location and menu, as well as daily menus. Will be coming back.

We actually were on our way to eat some place else, but they were fully booked and we ended up here. And we were happy so! Both the tortilla with falafel and the one with the cauliflower very amazing! Our only remark was the use of the sweet chili sauce. We thought it was a little much and it would taste better without it. But that's ofcourse just our opinion.

The food was okay, but the waitress was totally impolite: firstly, you are not obligated to order a drink before eating, secondly you are not obligated to give her a tip. We paid 28 E and since I got 30 Euro (3×10) I gave 30 like that to her and she took it without any intention to give 2 Euro back! She asked passively agressive ,,is it okay,, with no intention to give the change back and putting me in totally awkward situation! Never again!

First of all: I've been going here most of my life. My go to place for good a good Pita filled with Falafel goodness! Therefore the following makes my heart ache a little: The business is being ruled by a boss who has no respect for his customers or his employees. After having a one on one conversation with some of them I've been made aware of some horrendous working conditions. For example: Tips left by paying with card get pocketed by said boss. The person in charge seems to be quite confused himself about how to run his business. Once I came in and was rudely shown to a waiter to order my pita to go who would hand me a ticket to go to the cook with. Another time I was again rudely forced out to a tiny shop they rented directly next to it, who apparently is now the new place to order to go food. Which doesn't take card.. This time the shop was closed long before the main restaurant closes. So I made my way into the big place and was screamed at to order directly at the cook instead of a waiter.. another new system apparently. Not only that, they forced me to pay a fee of 50 cents because I wanted to pay by card at the main place just because the small one was closed (don't ask me, this is void of any logic..)! Which would obviously go directly to said madman of a boss. At that point in time there was no sign that warned me about said fee, no one told me about it, and my order was way above 10€ which is usually the minimum limit Paylife asks for before the company itself has to pay extra for taking card. Which proves my point again. This place is ruled by greed and madness. I myself will boycott it from now on and will visit other alternatives that are just as delicious but that treat me and their staff like human beings.

Very good falafel in a big place. I've visited a couple of years ago but now it seems they have extended the space. We were there shortly after 11 but they said that they somehow only open at 11:30. However, they were quick enough to bring us our food.

While I'm not huge on falafel, I ended up coming here because it was one of the few restaurants open nearby on a Sunday night (many things are closed in Vienna on Sunday, at least by the evening) that had some options that looked attractive. It clearly was a popular spot, I saw plenty of people enjoying a good coffee, meal, glass of wine, etc. and having conversations or, like me, just doing something by themselves. I was happy that they offered fish and chips, which normally wouldn't be my choice, but I had come in on a long flight, slept for a while, and was hungry. This comfort food hit the spot and was prepared quickly, yet still was quality and completely satisfied what I wanted. The price was also very fair, and would have made buying two of the dishes, if I was very hungry, very economically viable. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for something exotic to eat, or a relaxing, nice place to have a coffee on a cool Vienna evening, with our without someone else there.
