Avoid. The service is chaotic, to say the least. 2 staff with 'uniform' the rest a mix of street clothes. Who wears flip flops working in a restaurant, really? Every time we turned around there was a different server asking a different question, with some parties seeming to get 2-3 descending on them at a time. People kept wandering through with Nandos bags, too, which ended up in the kitchen/serving hatch. Odd. Then the struggle with the orders; my wife ordered a cocktail, with the server returning shortly after to apologize for not having the ingredients for the 'mocktail' (which she hadn't ordered) Then when our "starters" arrived (they don't actually have starters, they have a "bites" section, and get a bit confused when you want them before your mains) there was a random chicken burger (which we hadn't ordered) no muss, no fuss, these things happen. The Halloumi skewers were nice (apparently even these guys can't go wrong grilling a bit of halloumi) but the hummus was plain and rather boring, and was served in a heavily chipped bowl. Then the mains; the salmon salad was a bit suspect. My wife had to investigate a bit with her fork to determine whether it was chicken or salmon that had arrived. How overcooked does salmon have to be to turn out white? I've never seen or cooked salmon that came out white before! It was edible, but incredibly boring and uninspired. A squeeze of lemon and some seasoning would have made a difference. However, it's billed as a Smoke House, so the smoked beef ribs should be good, right? Hmm. So my first order of ribs came out, and the one good thing I can say is that the portion size was impressive. The first bite was warm, but not particularly hot. A small amount of digging and the middle was found to be stone cold. These were sent back, and to be fair the owner/manager (not sure which, but he seemed to be in charge) offered a free drink, and sent over complimentary Nachos. Unfortunately these too were terrible; the sort of things you might find at a service station garage. The second set of ribs came out, and were weirdly patchy, temperature wise. Warm with hot spots, but sufficient to eat. Again, a generous portion. The BBQ sauce was basically the same sticky sweet sauce you'd get from a bottle; nothing special, nothing to particularly complain about. However whilst the first rib was nice enough, the meal got progressively dry as I worked through it. I did not finish the meal. Also, whilst the chips were nice, the coleslaw tasted rather old/funky. Weirdly the ribs are served on a metal tray with a paper liner. This means that you'll spend your disappointing meal chasing your tray around the table, whilst separating the food from the paper It's no wonder the manager/owner is pushing the half price offers so hard. Frankly, they should be paying us to eat what they're serving.

We thought we'd try Smoky Boys because other places were busy...what a mistake. We were seated quickly, and another waitress rushed over to take our order but we had just sat down. She looked annoyed when I said we weren't ready to order. When another waitress eventually came to take our order, she was nice but automatically assumed I just wanted the bottled water and no other drink, and she rushed off before I could say I wanted a different drink. The food took ages to arrive. I had the smoky brisket burger....wow! That had way too much sauce in it. So much that it made the inside of my mouth sore, and it gave me serious heartburn. So for Β£10 I was give a plate of heartburn. The atmosphere in the place was awful, as the staff clearly didn't like the customers and didn't want to be there. The best thing that can happen to the place is that it closes. Spend that extra bit of time and wait to be seated in another restaurant. Do not waste your time and money going to Smoky Boys.

For first. Staff was very friendly, maybe less organized but we can tell they were alrighty. Food was served nice and was looking promising. Halolumi skewers were lovely. Fresh πŸ₯—. 🍟 were done good. Now about meat. My ribs were dry and I believe they were old or at last frozen for long time. πŸ” Wings were very salty and spicy as I believe to hide real taste. Been there on Monday. Been sick after food for two days. Talked with friend. He have the same feeling as I do and he was also sick after his burger patties.... Won't go there any more. Will have to check if I can report this place somewhere.

We both had a burger each, got to try the lamb burger and the Haus burger, pretty good too. Service was good too. Better deals are on at lunchtimes though.

AVOID. The atmosphere was flat despite it being quite busy. Nobody looked happy. The music was far too loud. Side of the table was sticky. Ordered x4 main meals, x4 soft drinks, and x1 milkshake. This came to the grand total of Β£87.52. The food was a huge disappointment. Both beef burgers were still pink inside. I ordered the chicken burger, Southern Fried, which very clearly says fillet on the menu (see photo) and I can say for certain that it was not a fillet. It was thigh meat. It came thin, greasy, and pink. It came with one lettuce leaf under the "fillet", a spicy sauce, and a piece of sorry looking half melted cheese. Tasted awful, I had one bite and left it. Came to the conclusion that the Heinz ketchup and mayo are, in fact, not Heinz at all but some cheap knock-off brand that you'd find at your local car boot burger van. Clearly they keep the worn out bottles and simply refill them. Also no actual date, use by or best before, can be found on the bottle. I looked for this after the ketchup tasted super acidic and checked to see if it was expired. Insult to injury, they added on a 12.5% service charge: Price without service charge: Β£77.80 Price with service charge: Β£87.52 The staff were polite but I wouldn't say the service was worth the extra charge. The manager was hovering about and just looked to be ordering the staff around while he stood there not doing much. Nobody came to check on us to ask how the food was. Our party was exhausted from travelling. This was our first food stop since being on the road most of the day. Sheer and utter disappointment, there is nothing "smoky" about this place except the smell coming from your wallet after being charged so much for food you could find at the local fair bin. Burning your wallet would be more entertaining than visiting this establishment. 0/5

We ordered through Just Eat and a delivery driver took our order to who knows where. But... Smoky Boys were highly professional and went above and beyond to remedy a mistake made by a third party. They re-cooked the order, sent it out urgently with one of their own staff and threw in three free drinks for the inconvenience. They were highly apologetic for circumstances not of their making. On to the food. Easily the best burgers I've had in the area since moving from London and they do Gluten Free and Vegan options too which is a bonus for our daughters who are Diary and Gluten free! I had the Smoky Bacon burger which was delicious, thoroughly enjoyed every bite, be aware that the burgers are served medium rather than well so they are pink in the middle, this is fine with fresh ground steak but unsuspecting clientelle might be surprised by this mark of quality. I got the distinct impression the burgers are even better when eaten in, the burgers are so juicy and loaded that the brioche bun suffers slightly in transit but this did not stop the onslaught of flavour. The Rosemary Salt chips were very more-ish, they are well-salted so another advisory note if that is not to your taste but it is very much to mine. My oldest daughter described her vegan burger as "very yummy except for the onions" but that was because I forgot to remove them and put them on my burger. A note on the price, the price is above what you would pay for an ordinary burger and sides are extra. This is in line with the quality and ingredients choice being of a markedly higher quality (please see one of my previous reviews on a different burger place). Keep up the great work and great customer service Smoky Boys!

To be fair the meal looks well presented, aesthetics lures you into thinking this should be decent dlgrub, but I'm afraid it's not. Mushroom stater was flavourless and not salted, wings starter was OK, could have done with an extra minute of char, skin was just soggy vs crisp/crunch. Mains were again, lacking in punch and flavour on the chicken in the ceasar salad, kids burger was overdone and dry, and "fries" were definitely refried, somehow came out with very little crunch you'd expect. Steak was passable, peppercorn sauce at least punchy. But for the price and the gall the charge 12.5% service charge for a quiet evening? Can't say id recommend. Side note, for a place that claims to be "smoky boys"? Menu doesn't reflect that... Even TGI close by does a better effort at the name "smoky"

Visited yesterday. Decided to try it in here as kids ate free. Me and my partner ordered a wrap each which were under Β£9 each. And a coke each, my partner also ordered a bowl of chips as the menu didn't state you got any sides included with your wrap. Food was OK, kids part enjoyed there's. Our food wasn't bad either until my partner found a hair in the chips. When we went to pay we didn't think nothing of it until the tab came up to Β£38!! After seeing the receipt we paid Β£9 each for the wraps, Β£3.50 for the chips and Β£7 for 2 cokes and Β£10 service fee which we had no idea we had to pay for. Save your money eat elsewhere

RIPPP OFF We came to xscape for my daughters birthday. She though smoky boys would be good as she'd never been. Found it very slow service even though it wasn't very busy in fact we the first people in restaurant at lunch time. We had a immersevive experience boom at gravity for 1.45 pm and thought we hand plenty of time to order food and go. We chose the lunch time menu . Ordered sparkling water. They didn't have any big bottles one of our drinks was over spilling due to being an iced type drink instead for another glass as it was melting and going on the table. They Brough another we then asked for napkins to mop it up she said use the ones on the table. We then asked after 10 minutes for more and she threw them at the table. Once we finished our mains we sat there for a good 45 minutes during this time the in only interaction from the 8 members of staff was to clear the table. We were never asked if everything was OK or if we wanted to see the dessert menu . We finally got dessert menus and ordered by this time we had about 20 minutes for our booking . We waited that 20minutes in saw the staff running round the restaurant with the desserts and when they finally brought them he said sorry we have no vegan ice cream is that OK. So I said fine can I have the bill . He brought the bill which was the fastest they moved and it was Β£102.00 That's for 3 lunch time deals 2 course meals at 19.99 and one burger on its own. Sparkling water because we were in a hurry the bill wasn't worked out based on the lunch deal plus a 12.5% service charge was added.. Eating in restaurant should be a delightful experience and you should leave feeling like you want to go back . The staff couldn't be bothered and the food wasn't amazing . I would avoid this place and go to weatherspoons it s cheaper and you'll get served quicker. You shouldn't have to chase waiters and waitresses around restaurants to get service

Had lunch in a group of 5 on 10/622. Waitresses were pleasant and sat us pretty quickly. The food was absolutely wonderful, tasty adequately spicy & service quick. Staff were pleasant & we got a cocktail on the house for the birthday girl. Will definitely be a regular. Music was great as well. All round great experience, thank you

Me and my partner went here last night for his birthday as he had always wanted to try here, it was awful. we ordered two starters i had the chicken tenders and upon arrival the waiter says β€œthe chicken is pink but cooked” red flag, when it came to our mains the chips where soggy and tasteless, after we had finished eating the waiter took our plates and left us to sit for another 40 minutes with no food or drink as he never came back to ask if we wanted desert or the bill, following up when we where finally able to pay and leave he refused my perfectly valid savills discount just because he could, on top of this we got charged a service fee which i wouldn’t mind but what service did we get? we had our food slapped on our table and then got left for the rest of the evening.

Came here after a night of bowling with my husband. The place was empty! The waitress sat us near the door, we asked if we could be sat in a booth instead to which she replied "yeah just go choose one" So we did and the seats were sticky, the booth seats are made out of some sort of faux leather, but to touch it, it ifelt like someone had spilt a drink on there and it hadn't been cleaned properly. We ordered 4 cola's and got the 2 courses for Β£19.95 or 19.99. The cola came with big wedges of lemon in the glass so all you could taste was lemon. I ordered the garlic mushrooms and the halloumi burger, you can't go wrong, right??? Well clearly you can!! We waited 35 minutes for the first course to come out. The garlic in the garlic mushrooms were practically full of cloves swimming around. There was a small pitta on the side which I thought was cute but it was like eating a brick so I didn't eat it. We waited an extra 40 minutes for the mains. The halloumi was half cold and half scorching hot. Cold in the middle and hot around the edges. The fries were definitely cooked more than twice in oil, whether they pre cook them ahead of time and re dip, I don't know. The final bill came and our jaws hit the deck, Β£105.92 for the evening! Β£11.92 of that was a service charge! We didn't even get service other than our plates thrown onto the tables. The place just has an overall feel of dirtyness about it. Staff huddled at the bar talking all evening. No customer service whatsoever. Safe to say we won't be coming again.

Ordered from this restaurant via Uber Eats. Food came cold, Halloumi "skewers" came in squares COLD. So much so, i actually told my girlfriend it was supposed to be cold! When we rang the restaurant, we were assured it was hot because he had tested it before it left. When we assured him it wasnt, he told us to just put it in the microwave! Shows a lack of quality ingredients. The chips were supposed to be cheesy, but i think they were topped with cement. When picking up one chip from the box, the whole portion came out with it. I then called again the day after to try and resolve the situation, but N was very rude on the phone. He actually hung up while i was trying to resolve the issue. He assured me his colleague had told him about the issue and he trusts the system. The restaurant refused to take any responsibility and just kept blaming the driver. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE

Honestly shocking, i cant comment on the dining in experiance as we ordered from the app, we ordered a month ago from uber eats and it was ok, this time around we ordered again using the smoky boys app becasuse it was 50% off i'm now convinced 50% off was from the food not the price. the cheeseburger for Β£8 it was tiny, compareable with the size of a happy meal burger and tasted just as bad too, the macoroni and cheese the first time was regular macoroni and cheese, the second time it came it tasted like water mixed with ground pepper, again i can not comment on the dining in quality my experiance is entirely based on the delivery service.

Ordered food from here this evening for delivery and I seriously wish that I hadn't bothered. Order turned up nearly an hour later than expected and we had to call the restaurant to find out what was happening. When the food arrived it was freezing cold. Two portions of chips missing from the order so we just had burgers & sides. Dry chicken, undercooked halloumi and soggy cold burgers. Save your money and go to McDonalds instead!

Lovely food nothing to critique, however horrendously overpriced!! The burger alone was Β£8 with sides being extra (we paid Β£3 for the fries). The menu advertises a happy hour however doesn't tell you what the deal actually is which is confusing. I went for a cocktail as happy hour is two for one and both cocktails cane our different which again is strange. Service was fine. A bit underwhelming and feeling a bit ripped off...

Called in with my two daughters. Never been and was a bit sceptical because I have high standards with food and didn't want a chain. Very pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and the service amazing. Nothing too much trouble and service with a smile even though it was a busy Saturday lunch time. The quality of the food was very good and the price was even better. We will return. One thing I must point out is usually when it says spicy it isn't, but believe me this was and it was gorgeous. Well done to all and thank you.

Food absolutely lovely. The service wasn't great. Asked for three drinks for three people they came with an extra coke. Then asked for a coke later as me lad had finished. They came with a coke float?? Then they came with said coke asked for, then came another coke not ordered. Didn't want to tell them they had got another order wrong, so just had the extra coke. Oh and the smokey bacon burger came without bacon as they ran out. Crazy evening.

Really tasty food. Would have given five stars if someone had welcomed me at the door and asked for my name instead of me waiting five minutes. Handover of food was not contactless on my visit but I think the place had only just reopened because there was some confusion in the kitchen, some apologies said to another customer, the manager seemed chaotic and staff were running about a lot. Gluten free options was fantastic and food stayed warm until I got back home and devoured the food. Would be great for delivery to WF7 but understand the difficulties. As feedback to Smoky boys please give the customer a calmer experience with a more organised feel and keep up the amazing cooking.

Terrible service (and I'm very patient and understanding having worked in the industry). In a group of five one person served 20 minutes after ordering, while the other 4 people had to wait another 20 minutes after that, at least. The chips were awful, cold and flavourless. One of the group paid around Β£20 for salmon and received a pathetically small portio with cold and flavourless potatoes and overcooked veg. The burgers did not satiate at all and felt like a waste of calories. I also didn't realise until I finished my food that there was a long brown hair on my plate (longer than my hair) - there was a waitress serving our table with her hair down so I'd assume hers. We were out for a birthday so did not want to ruin our celebrations by causing a scene so expressed our displeasure but just paid. However, when we asked to have the 12% service charge removed, the waiter seemed offended. Really would not recommend.

We have arrived on Tuesday as party of 6 and our waitress Angela was absolutely amazing. She was going above and beyond to make our table happy. Such a kind bubbly soul! Food was great especially chicken wings as starters snd BBQ ribs were juicy and fresh! and starters arrived under 15 mins while restaurant had another few tables in. Great restaurant, I would recommend to anyone to come and visit ones! Such a friendly and kind restaurant with great management.

We came in for some lunch, hadn't heard much about the restaurant but saw that we could get NHS discount. The manager seated us and was very welcoming and smiley. He explained the menu to us and made sure we got the best value for our food explaining the offer worked our better than our discount. He advised us on the food and gave us sauces to try. Can't honestly fault any of the food it was all amazing. The waitress was lovely and helpful too. Very good value for money, amazing food, brilliant staff, best meal out in a very long time. Thank you.

. Woow where do you even start with this place.. All I can say is the food is most definitely out of a frozen box, we ordered 3 burgers and to Be totally honest they were exactly the same as bird eyes from the frozen section in any shop. Kids meal for my son same again pizza from the frozen section and then to charge Β£140 for the privilege of someone cooking frozen food is absolutely unreal. To round it up pop down to Iceland and save your self a few quid.

When myself and a friend entered the restaurant, we were immediately taken care of and seated in a booth. Server asked if we were comfortable with this or wanted to change table. She was very approachable and kind. However, no conversation or questioning took place in regards to allergies. The booth was slightly sticky and compacted. The food was a mixed bag. I ordered garlic prawns. Wow. This was a brilliant starter and I was very pleased with it. However, it did appear to be cooked in butter, which it didn't mention on the menu. With having an intolerance to dairy, I'd of preferred if I was aware of this. My friend had the calamari. He explained that it was nice, but was slightly soggy. We then continued to have the soy salmon. This was very disappointing, especially with the cost of nearly Β£20. The salmon was tasteless, as were the "chilli" potatoes. These appeared to be plain and boiled. The vegetables were also over done and lacked flavour. My friend had the steak. He expressed how much he enjoyed this and said it was perfect. He said he had no issues with the meal. During this time, we had multiple cocktails. These were nice, but did take a whike to make. We were waiting atleast 15 minues for a cocktail. This would be understandable if they were busy, but they were not. The process seemed slow, to the point where we were waiting a while for playing the bill. The entire bill came to 117, with a 13 pound service charge. The lovely server did say that it would be understandable if we did not want to pay the extra. Overall, it was okay in some areas but lacked in simple areas such as the salmon dish. For the money, id expect better quality. However, the stafg seemed lovely and quicl to please

We visited here on Monday 24th August for a quick dinner after playing golf. We came as a party of 2 adults and 2 young children. First of all I would like to say, the manager Lynn and our lovely waitress Georgia were very very attentive and worked their socks off and for this alone we would definitely come back. The restaurant is clearly undergoing s huge transition from losing all its workforce because of the closure caused by COVID and have had to recruit heavily which means lots of new staff learing the ropes when it opened in July. Our experience was a good one overall. The food was lovely, the milkshake is awesome and the mocktails are wonderful, the kids really enjoyed these. The reason we didn't give 5 stars in because of the wait times. It took a long time for drinks and food to arrive. However the staff that looked after us were very apologetic and ultimately everything was sorted out in the end. We are very grateful to Lynn who is trying her hardest to pull the restuaraunt through a tricky period. For Lynn and Georgia's service, we will definitly return.

Calm and friendly atmosphere and staff. Great service, attentative without being over bearing. Food great and reasonably priced. If one gripe, steak sauce a bit thin bit it's down to personal preference. Will eat here again and would highly recommend.

I would highly recommend this restaurant, the food is amazing!! We did have a slight issue with our order and H the general manager was amazing with how he dealt with the situation. He went above and beyond to ensure we was happy, H was extremely helpful and friendly and so was all the other staff I spoke to - including the delivery drivers. I cannot thank the staff enough for how polite and kind they were to me. Thank you very much Smokey Boys - Castleford and Thank you H! Much appreciated everything you did for us!

I had a lovely lunch here today, the staff were friendly, attentive and polite. The food arrived quickly and was really nice. I had the halloumi wrap and there was a perfect mix of spice and flavour. It being on the lunch deal menu makes it affordable to. All in all a pleasant lunch for less than Β£10.

Good food, poor cocktails. Service was slow but friendly, so the drinks ordered arrived at the same time as the food. I had the lunch deal with a beer and found the pricing reasonable for what I had.

😠 Poor uncared-for motorway services. Very poor road directional signage on site. I drove past the narrow turning into the car park, inadvertently ended up at the petrol station. When finally going into the main building... I open the first of two doors into the toilets, and I was instantly hit with...
