Huge range of stock, a bit pricey but good quality

My first visit was lovely, the staff working (April 2nd) were helpful, friendly and tried their best to save me some money. We also had a lovely chat about the kitten I was picking up the next day. My most recent visit was less impressive, the staff looked like they'd rather be anywhere else, had no interest in serving, nor helping with the coupons available on the app. The stock available is quite good, though prices outside if using the app discounts feel a little high.

First visit really didn't impress me. I'm not gonna fault the staff because they were busy trying to keep everyone happy. But they clearly need more staff. And some items are ordered in not actually stocked but the website doesn't make that clear. Perhaps I should've realised from the 5 day wait for click and collect but other companies manage to inform you of physical stock levels. I don't fault the staff at all but PAH need to review their overpriced experience. But their loss was eBay's gain.

Love that we have Pets at Home in our town. It's always well stocked and clean and the team member who served me was very patient while I got my app updated on my phone.

Mam loves to see dogs being washed and groomed through viewing window.nice and clean nice tropical fish tanks.

The staff are amazing in this Pontefract branch, every single staff member I spoke too was happy to help me with my newly rescued elderly dog. A very special thanks to Meg, she went well out of her way to provide help with regular flea and worm treatments and set up the app for me. The prices are cheap but good quality stuff. Easy to shop round but queue to pay was unacceptable one person and eight waiting need a coffee ☕ m/c to pass the time

Find it hard to find the right raw food here but the staff are always nice

Website messes up subscription .Orders now all cancelled. I now need to go to the store to collect dog food. They absolutely "can't" (more like won't) match the 10% discount of online subscriptios... Apparently even managers don't have the discretion to match it for you either 🤪. Same thing happens again months later, go in to buy the food and there's no left on the shelf. Ask uninterested member of staff is there's any out back "No, if it's not on the shelf we don't have it". Instead of buying a 14kg bag I then buy 2 X 2kg bags just so I have some dog food and I order a click and collect from the exact same store. Lo and behold an hour later I'm emailed to say I can now go and collect my order from the store... So it seems like they actually DID have it in stock and she couldn't be arsed to go out the back and get it. Customer services as useful as charcoal on a blackboard.

Tuesday 7th November , my third visit to the Pontefract store . On all my visits , the staff have been so friendly , helpful , and obliging . Today a staff member by the name of Shona , was exceptional with her customer care and knowledge . I needed several items for my dog , and the help and assistance I received was very much appreciated .

Lovely staff every time I visit, always super helpful and friendly towards my timid Collie. They've really helped him get over his nervousness in shops.

Can be hit and miss with the stock they have. And prices again are sometimes good, better than online retailers. Sometimes much more. The staff that I've interacted with are always friendly and helpful.

We started using the groom room Pontefract when it first opened for our Romanian rescue dog Charlie. Neave and the team are absolutely amazing at what they do - so understanding towards your pet’s needs, not to mention how fabulous they are at making your fur babies smell and look amazing! We have just rescued another dog who was in quite a smelly and matted state from his time on the streets and the team went above and beyond to make him feel comfortable during his first ever groom. He also left the salon looking and smelling amazing - plus a stone lighter from all of the matted fur they got rid of! Wouldn’t take my doggies anywhere else :)

we called in here to buy some parts we had miss placed for the hamster cage I asked the assistant but they re not sold separately but she went off to the store room and found some spares and gave them to us. Amazing customer service.

Friendly pet store. Small pets can be purchased here. Dogs welcome. Plenty of varieties of foods for dogs, cats, rodents, fish, etc. including accessories from rabbit hutches to cat and dog toys. Lovely and clean too. Plenty of free parking spaces.

Went in for flea treatment got what we wanted plus the dog came out with a bag off assorted biscuits to try will go back and buy her a bag now we know what she likes

Honest experience of the business! For a change I decided to cash in on VIP card deals and being unsure of what I could get away with I tried doing single transactions to utilise each coupon. The cashier told me without me asking that next time there is no need as all vouchers count via one single transaction. Got to love this kind of employee.

Not very much in and alot of stuff moved around due to it being renovated, we will return after July once renovation has finished

Great staff plenty of choice in pet foods and toys

We adopted the cutest little hamster from here and we couldn't be happier. Ellie who helped us was fantastic and helped get us all we needed and we now have a lovely new addition to the family. I love that they have an adoption section now.

Truly lovely staff. I was buying fish for my 10 year old and the staff couldn't do enough for us. They were so patient and friendly when my son was asking questions. It's definitely a store I feel comfortable and relaxed in. Me and my son can't wait to go back in to buy some more fish when the time is ready. I will always use this store in the future. Thank you for making out shopping experience an enjoyable one.

Great staff, friendly team and a great selection of top quality products. Gave me and my family lots of sound advice. Can be pricey compared to other locsl discount stores but the customer service more than makes up for this.. well done and top marks... my dogs favourite place..

First time using the Grooming Room and it certainly won't be the last. They girls were lovely warm, friendly, gentle and just lovely with my dog

We went the other day and extremely happy with the help and conversation with I think LAUREN (ginger hair, when asked her name she said the one with ginger hair) We ended up with so much information on our tropical fish and purchased a few more while there. In All the other local shops we've been and bought fish no one has ever told us this much information before. Lauren was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable regarding each fish we had and how best to look after them. And also on my crazy 🤪 boston terrier.. ha!! And also my daughters 3 cats. So our visit was just what we needed. I would definitely advise to go to pontefract pets at home and chat with LAUREN you will come away happy and full of extra knowledge about your furrbaby or waterbaby.

Fantastic visit! Our dogs Rockie and Lola were made to feel like movie stars 🤩 We got everything we needed and the sales assistant showed us how to log into the app to get 20% discount for the puppy. The people that work here genuinely love animals and they are really helpful...it isn't the cheapest, but there is everything that we needed so left happy!

Limited choice of fish but its Sunday and they may have sold😬..great condition though,and great plants when they have them in! Order more guys! ..I should work there I've just given a couple advice on fish keeping..made the store an extra 70 quid 🤣 an potentially sold their Betta !!

Shop re vamp is poor. Lanes are too small. Can't turn around with a trolly, god forbid someone's already where you need to be. Will only go in as a last resort now.

It's very nice here and the staff are nice and friendly and love our dogs we had a black Labradour Pedro who we sadly lost on 18th July this year bless him we also bought a Fox Red Labradour last year called Cooper they was both on there books from pups we recently bought a Chocolate Labradour called Luna my wife registered her yesterday when we called and Pedro was still on there system my wife couldn't bare the thought of him being deleted off there system she said the lady behind the till was almost crying when she told her about Pedro

This review is regarding their groom room facility. We took our 11 month old for his first nail clipping here. I attempted to do this myself at home however he just doesn't like the sight of the clippers but doesn’t mind his paws being touched. We thought maybe a professional would have some tricks and tips to get the job done however when we were watching through the glass the lady was very rough with him which I can appreciate it’s hard to get a puppy to stay still but she came out and advised us that she couldn’t do it because he was biting her. Given I was watching through the window this was absolutely not the case. It just seemed like she couldn’t be bothered with him moving around. When we asked for some tricks to do then ourselves she said ‘get him used to them’. Thanks Sherlock. I’m not sure why a mussel wasn’t an option if he was indeed ‘biting’ but overall it was just very disappointing. As a professional service I don’t expect them to lie and basically say my dog is vicious just because they couldn’t be bothered with him moving around. I will not be using the services going forward.
