This pub is absolutely lovely! and a very rare find even in these countryside surroundings, It's worth reading the history about this pub, fascinating! Cozy fire place, beautiful beer garden quality food, free parking, the staff are amazing. If you like country walks then this is the perfect place to stop off for lunch, lovely countryside walks all around this area. Will definitely return!

Why, oh why do we put ourselves through this experience every time. They say that to repeat an action expecting a different result is madness, and so it has been proved. Again. We are mad. It is official. We like the concept of Vintage Inns but too often have been let down. We have had 4 complaints resolved in our favour over the years with vouchers to entice us back, but after Saturday night, the madness must end. So no more. Ever. As the attached images demonstrate the startling prices in no way reflect what is delivered (and this cannot be laid just at the door of the Crooked Chimney - they sell the same poor value food as all the other Vintage Inns). Chicken schnitzel and chips £15.25. Really? No other accompaniments at all - surely a small side salad wouldn't be amiss at that price. The picture shown is just minus one obligatory tasting chip. Pie - 'better' value at £13.75, but with only 6 small pieces of chicken and a very empty dish, not much value. And I do have to reserve special mention for the carrots which managed to come out with a texture of dead flesh - remarkable. Black Forest Flower Pot - £8.50! One scoop of blackcurrant sorbet (surely some mistake - should be cherry?), a pile of chocolate syrup and some soil. Far too sweet and far too expensive. Luxury bannoffe pie - £6.95. All crust and cream, hardly any 'banoffee' so difficult to tell how luxury it was. But I need to give balance. Our server was wonderful. She was patient, had a great sense of humour and could not be faulted. Perhaps someone should ask her opinion on the value of what she serves? And I do ned to point out that the desserts came free of charge thanks to a Vintage Inn offer - it would be churlish not to mention this, I feel. But this was a night to forget rather than an evening to remember. If you are going to charge such eye-watering prices, the food should be pretty good. But it is not even close. With a curry and rice at £17.95 (the local Indian restaurant would charge £11.00 and I bet they might do a better job), there is no wonder that there were many empty tables on a Saturday night at the rather pleasant Crooked Chimney pub. So we are mad no more. Just sad that these nice pubs think so little of their customers. We would suggest a rather urgent rethink should be on the cards.

Delightful place. Staff were friendly, happy to interact naturally. I thought the food was of decent quality, presented well and the beer was cold - exactly what i wanted on a hot day in their beer garden

Friendly and attentive service with plenty of space between tables. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals; Duo of lamb, burger, lasagna and wood fired pizza. The chunky chips were very good and the deserts were delicious. Would definitely eat here again.

Took my partner for her birthday, food was lovely staff were attentive and helpful. This is a lovely quaint restaurant suitable for a family meal out or that romantic meal out. Will definitely be back again.

Very disappointing meal and service yesterday. A party of 12 for a Christmas dinner. Had to put tables together ourselves. Had to ask if there were any crackers/decorations for the table. Young lad managed to find some Crackers. Christmas tree at the sidecof the bar completely bare. Food very basic. Some paid an extra £2.95 for more pig in blankets .There were three. A pound each! My apple pie came barely warm .sent custard back to be reheated, only the plate was hot. First visit there and my last

Really disappointed! Went for a meal after hearing good things only to turn up and be told “no green veg, no Yorkshire puddings, no parsnips, no pie and no fish and chips” Tried to stay positive anyway so we all sat down to order, member of staff came back to say there’s now no beef! We asked if we could have extra carrots and roast potatoes to make up for the lack of EVERYTHING else. Got 5 tiny roasties .. carrots were freezing and rock solid. Felt bad complaining because obviously it’s not the servers fault, but we absolutely will not be going again. Nearly £20 per dish and no compensation!

Everything about this place was great! When I came in I got greeted by friendly staff who were extremely helpful throughout the night. Along with the service, the food did not disappoint. I had the steak sandwich with chunky chips and it was amazing! I would highly recommend.

I had been on an errand with a Friend and his wife and we had passed the Crooked Chimney and had jokingly commentted, that it would have been a nice stop for a Sunday Lunch if we hadn't been passed Lunchtime already! On the way back from our successful endeavours we agreed that we should stop for a reward drink, and to take in the perceived picturesque ambiance, so we turned around and had our drink and took in, said Perceived ambiance. So it turned out that it was, as picturesque on the inside with a friendly service to match the warm atmosphere and interiors. So we enjoyed our drink, I enjoyed my portion of chunky chips and will certainly return for the Sunday Lunch!

Many of the items on the menu were unavailable. You’d expect on a Saturday night at a sensible time there wouldn’t be 6 items unavailable. This restricted our experience. The place was very quiet. No customers in the bar and just 5 tables eating. So how they ran out of most dishes would indicate poor stock management. We wouldn’t go back as it was expensive for a restricted menu with limited atmosphere.

Worst meal I have ever had! For the love of god please do not come to this awful place. Food is rubbish, staff are completely useless and the atmosphere is DEAD. Half the menu was missing, no veggie options. Avoid at all costs. This place should be demolished.

Cant believe how bad the service was. Waited for about 15 minutes for a member of staff to come to the bar. Then when he did arrive he just said "Yes"? Rather than apologising for the long wait to us. So rude. Absolutely appealing lack of care and service I returned to the bar to get a drink and was looked at by another bar man and he just walked off. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Owners of the Crooked chimney, I hope you read this.

Friendly and, soup was amazing however went down hill from there. My pie seriously had a couple of pieces of chicken and that was it. All just one big puff pastry... Husbands curry he too wasn't impressed. However tbf when our lovely waitress asked if everything was OK. I did say where was the filling for the pie. Potato was dry and lots of veg to make up the portion.. With that she said she'd let the chef know. I asked for some gravy and the waitress forgot about this till it was time to pay.. So disappointed.!!! So my mains was removed from the bill. Would have rather had a better filled pie and paid in full.. Than a pie with no filling other that couple of pieces. But thankyou for putting this right.. Husband had a pudding and that was tasty he said. Got chatting to another couple Kelly and Stewart and that made up for disappointing meal. Good evening had apart from the main meal.

the garlic flatbread was very plain and quite undercooked, then mains came and half of my already small steak was fat and when i expressed this problem i was not offered a new steak only explained the weight of it, which wasn’t the problem i had. i also work in another chain of vintage inns and customer service is always key. anyways, had a lovely experience with the bartender, he was very accommodating.

😠 Popped in a few times for lunch and breakfast. I can't tell how many times I had to ask to correct my order or replace the disgusting-looking food. The tables are often dirty and sticky. The staff treats you very well as long you don't complain about the food. They usually avoid eye contact so they...
