What a shame, I like others below have found Forge to have gone so utterly downhill. Croissants half the size they used to be and lamination poor. The Danish overly sweet to make up for the consistency of pastry I guess. The coffee used to be to die for and worth a trip alone except now I'd rather make one at home. The indoor seating area is dirty. Table sticky and a lot of dirt on sills and the edge of flooring. That's laziness right there. Hopefully no-one wants anything off the shelves next to the water fridge as caked with grease 🤢 hopefully the bakery itself is better. Truly heartbroken to have visited for the first time in a while and it be this bad. Sadly the last visit for me.

We came during a manic period on Sunday morning. Wasn’t sure if we could find a table ourselves, or wait for a table. In the end, we clarified with a member of staff; they cleared a table for us. We got some menus and ordered at the till. Unfortunately they sold out of granola. So we plumped for almond croissant and pecan bun. Both were lovely and fresh. The coffees came later, as they were very busy.

We were happy to see they use @mossvalleyfinemeats too. Couldn't have asked for anything more it was perfect 👌 The pastries and bread here are also top notch and we had to take a couple home. Forge supplied the sweet treats for our wedding and we were not disappointed! We got two types of pastries and two types of donuts. Doing everything vegan was not a problem for the bakery and everyone was raving about them! Highly recommend if you're looking for someone to cater bakes and treats.

Called in for coffee and a Portuguese tart with my dog. Got 2 pain au chocolate to take away which were delish although slightly overdone. The food and coffee is great but not cheap. It's great they allow dogs so we will be back again for definite.

I have now been to a few of the event nights and have enjoyed them all immensely. The most recent was the Italian night. The food was amazing on each visit. The service and atmosphere are also brilliant. I would highly recommend.

Gorgeous lunch spot, really fresh ingredients and friendly service. I had the harissa eggs with fried chicken and my friend has the pancakes with plum/mascapone/honeyed wallnuts- both delicious. Great selection of freshly baked breads / pastries to takeaway!

I need to take another route home from the gym cause I can’t go past here without stopping and popping in for their latest vegan sandwich. Hats off to whoever came up with that sandwich filling combination. The sweet potato and black bean roll that I had last week was incredible. The cumin seeds on top make everything come together.

I recently visited Forge Bakehouse and enjoyed it very much. I tried the Full English Breakfast, which was delicious. The Portuguese Custard Tarts were a delightful treat with their flaky crust and creamy filling. The jam doughnuts were a sweet surprise. The staff were friendly, and the cozy ambiance added to the experience. I highly recommend Forge for a great meal and a warm atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Oh my goodness THIS PLACE !!!! We are so envious of everyone that lives nearby. We live 150 miles away but every time we come to the area (for work) we visit. Where do I start.. the coffee - so smoky and rich, expertly made.... the breakfast in the cafe is incredible, cooked with expertise and love.. the toasted sourdough with halloumi , avocado and harissa fried eggs and labne is HIGHLY recommended.. and the bread and pastries are so good!.. best croissant I've since being in Paris - sourdoughs perfect in every way.. I'm working my way through the menu of goodies but the empanadas were deliciously seasoned and perfect texture empanada pastry, the iced danish perfectly judged in sweetness and texture ....this is coming from 2 chefs that have cooked and baked for over 20 yrs each... the team there is so friendly, knowledgable and helpful - I could go on and on..... This is my absolute MUST visit for everyone in Sheffield - Well done Team Forge Bakehouse -you deserve so much success!... and if you're ever interested in opening in St. Albans, Herts please do.. ??? Anyone reading this... you absolutely must go!.. we've put some photos from our last visit.. can't wait to come back!..x

A must visit if you’re in Sheffield. The staff are friendly and efficient, and that’s before you’ve even had your good meal. We had the french toast that was amazing. The bread was well soaked in the custard and reminded me of a good bread and butter pudding, the toasted pecans and chocolate sauce just made it next level spectacular. We had the doughnut too which I’d recommend to anyone who appreciates a good custard.

What a fantastic place for breakfast. It looked busy from outside, but there’s additional seating upstairs that we were kindly shown to by staff. I prefer sweet start of the day and French toast was perfect for that. My husband enjoyed Harissa fried eggs as he prefers a savory breakfast. Their coffee is tasty and smooth and pastries are gorgeous.

Lovely place to visit and an amazing authentic bakery. Detailed comments below: Pain au chocolat: One of the best you will taste 10/10 Butter croissant: Now the issue is we only got the vegan one as they ran out of their normal one at only 10:30AM which is really bad considering it's 1.5 hours since they open. Hoping they fine tune their quantity. The vegan one in all honesty was a good one but nothing in comparison to normal one. Great option for vegans! 7/10 Hot chocolate: Very lackluster hot chocolate, I asked for extra chocolatey and it still came pretty bland, can't imagine how it would be normally. They definitely need to improve this. 4/10 Mocha: Great mocha with smooth coffee beans but let down by chocolate. 7/10 French toast: Lovely and fulfilling, worth getting! 9/10 Sourdough toast: I had to ask for it twice as they over did mine even though I mentioned not to burn it at the point of ordering. However, their butter and jam is fantastic and worth it! 8/10

GREAT service. There was a miss communication between kitchen and front house, which was very well resolved to accommodate us. Very nice surprised. Good variety of pastries. Great bread options. They do not have service charge, so do not forget to tip 😉

Thank you soooo much for having us during your Fish & Seafood event. ALL courses including starters (Crab Pate and Smoked Baba Ganoush) were just perfect, very tasty and full of little, incredible flavours... everything refined to perfection! The main course Baked Whole Sea-bass was just stunning, the Squid Ink Risotto omg - so delicate and delicious... and the Saffron Custard Tart with sorbet just a cherry on top guys...absolutely amazing!!!!! Thank you for the extra mile arranging the simplified kids menu and of course customised ♥️bread♥️ I cannot express my appreciation and thank you enough for the excellent customer service to lovely Liva. We had a brunch there and the food was great. I ordered the baked eggs but they were a bit too spicy for me. So, if you are not much into spicy food this might not be the right one to order. The fried eggs were excellent!

We've been to the Forge many times already and we intend to go many times more! Delicious food, cute indoor and outdoor seating, and the friendliest staff. 👍 There's no prior booking so you've got to be fast, but their French toast is especially worth it!

Best Veggie Full English I've ever had. (I also had the vegan one, which adds avocado and replaces the eggs with a sort of chickpea croquette.)

Had breakfast here, I ordered the vegetarian breakfast (pictured) and my wife ordered a special of the day French toast. Both were great: fresh sourdough bread baked by the restaurant themselves, fresh ingredients, very big portion sizes. The hash browns looked oddly like onion bhajis and they were very hard to cut into (I just picked them up with my hands in the end), but they tasted fantastic, as did the vegetarian black pudding. Those were two standouts for me. Staff very friendly, takeaway almond croissant I had was also spot-on.

Absolutely amazing. Best sausage roll I’ve ever eaten (and I’ve had plenty over the years!). Perfect Flat white and a lovely fresh baked danish.

Really glad we went to Forge Bakehouse. We enjoyed our pastry , hot chocolate and breakfast. The staffs are lovely too. Highly Recommended and will deffo comeback to try all their different breads and pastries.

I'm regular there, in my opinion they have the best sourdough bread in Sheffield. I think people who work there are really funny - every time I'm there they make comments to acknowledge they know I'm not British. They correct how I pronounce some words, they say 'in England weather is like that...' and so on. Really funny people. Great place, recommended.

Master Bakers of the highest order, I love, love, love their bread. All kinds of flavours including spelt and gluten free for those with sensitivities. And I for one am delighted that they ask customers to wear masks: with all that food around it's really the only way to go. Thanks for making such high quality baking available :)

Good variety of sourdough. I still remember the times during the pandemic when we got them delivered weekly.

Food here is flavoursome and beautifully presented. Only problem at the moment, no indoor dining for groups more than two. Good weather ... definitely worth a visit.

Bought a gorgeous vegan danish and sweet potato and black bean roll. Vegan pastry is hard to perfect and it was absolutely lovely. I haven't eaten the roll yet...but I'm sure it will be delicious!

So sad to see forge go downhill since it been under new management. It’s lost its nice atmosphere, things are smaller but more expensive, nice things like the tarts have gone, the sandwich filling have become uninspiring and not very nice. I used to love forge so much and while I do still get Bread and odd cake it make me sad to go in. Nothing against the new management/staff just after Martha and all staff worked so hard to make it such lovely experience and great produce it is really disappointing

I’m now a regular at Forge Bakehouse and it is my go to cafe whenever I am in Sheffield. All the food is amazing and the coffees are great. Most recently I had the cheese and ham Croissant and a doughnut. They were fantastic. The staff are lovely too. This is a must visit whenever you are in the area.
