10/10 place. It was my first time having Ethiopian food and it did not disappointment. It's the only Ethiopian place uptown. Vegan food with flavour that packs a punch. The injera was soft and spongy. Ordered the sampler platter and it is restaurant quality (maybe even better). There were 4 types of stews/food to accompany the injera. Also included a samosa. Big portions. I didn't catch her name but the woman was radiant and kind. Shared her stories, excellent conversationalist. She asked for my allergies too. The stall can be hard to find since it's located on the side of a building with multiple food stalls/in a food hall. Highly recommend!

First time having vegan food and Ethiopian food and it was very delicious. I got the sampler platter to get a taste of each stew plus a samosa and injera bread. I've always been hesitant about vegan meat substitutes, but the TVP in the "beef" stew could really fool anyone while tasting amazing. This meal definitely showed me the best that Vegan and Ethiopian food can offer.

Absolutely a hidden gem! This little vegan place is down the hall in most inside of the flip kitchen. The vegan roti is amazing with vegan jerky. Soup is the best! I have a lot to update on this place I will update as I visit more!

Was looking for a gluten-free and vegan place and happened upon this neighbourhood gem. Finding it was a bit of a trick. It's inside F.L.I.P Kitchens which is a food hall on the north side of 5210 Yonge St. I can't say I've eaten much Eritrean food before, but it's similar enough to middle eastern flavours. I enjoyed a Sampler Plate. The big winner there was a soy with a sauce that made you forget it wasn't real meat. The sweet potatoes had a great texture too. I also enjoyed a Tropical Storm Smoothie with spinach. Also highly recommended. If you can, call ahead because Naza makes a lot of things fresh, so she can have your food ready when you arrive.

Edit: Second time eating here and you HAVE to try it! I spoke to the owner (I believe) and she was SO lovely! First time trying Ethiopian/Eritrean food and it's incredible! The TVP stew tastes like and resembles beef. The stews are flavourful and pack a little heat. Injera bread is a little sour and very light but holds the stews well. Definitely try the sampler platter, so you get a bit of everything!

I tried the sampler plate and it was simply phenomenal. Great taste, amount and variety. The menu changes every week, so you won’t find the exact same options every time, but I can imagine how tasty it is to explore the different tastes. The space is small for dine in, so it may be difficult to eat there in busy times, but wasn’t a problem for me and they offer delivery and take out, which would be great in a sunny day to eat in a nearby park or take/order to eat at home. It is all vegan and they have gluten free option which is really accommodating. The attendant was helpful explaining the different options. This was my first time but will definitely come back.

There's no where that I frequent more, since Chicpeas opened in December. Naza's food is a testament to her commitment to providing customers with comfort and love. There is truth to the motto she uses at the end of her menu "Taste the Love". She treats her customers like family. The menu that's offered is limited but there's so much more available on her website! There's a treat section that's dangerously addicting. I find myself daydreaming and opening my browser to that page. There's brunch on Saturday with freshly made gluten free waffles topped with a savoury or sweet option. I'm a big fan of her soups but sadly have only been able to snatch them when she makes it for the market. There's so much more to rave about and if you've read up until now, it's best to head over.

I had the "everything sampler" here today which has all the stews, rice, salad and a samosa. The food is very flavorful and overall it is a good portion size for one person. It is inside the Flip Kitchen Food Hall near the North York Center so its mostly a hidden gem, you can't see it from the street level passing by. The city needs to do a better job promoting such an excellent concept small business. Highly recommend!

We went to North York for an appointment and decided to search for a vegan spot to enjoy lunch. Without a doubt, it turned out to be an exceptional culinary experience, as the food we had here stands out as one of the best vegan meals we've ever tasted. Our order included a sampler with three Ethiopian/Eritrean stews with injera, and a pizza, and each dish exuded a remarkable level of care and perfection in its preparation. What truly enhanced our visit was the warm and attentive service provided by the owner. Her genuine hospitality made a significant positive difference in our overall dining experience! Without any hesitation, we wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking a delightful meal. We are already looking forward to returning for more of their delectable offerings soon. The food is absolutely incredible and addictive. So happy to have a vegan spot near me that is INCREDIBLE! I just wish they were open for more hours because sometimes I want it for dinner. Can’t recommend it enough, must have! I had a stuff patty and it was amazing!

I absolutely adore this vegan restaurant. The food is wonderful, and the service is top-notch. The owner is incredibly charming and adds a special touch to the overall experience. I've brought along a few (non-vegan) friends, and they raved about the food afterward. The platter option is such a fantastic way to savor a variety of flavors!

Tired a combination of all the stews β€” the jerk stood out as incredibly tasty. The food had good spice without being overwhelming and the owner was cheerful and just brought loving vibes . Will be back ! Toughest thing is to actually find the restaurant. You enter on Yonge and it is one of a number of restaurants stacked side by side as you walk westward inside the building .

Lovely plant-based cafe. I tried the sampler platter (ate half of it before thinking I should have taken a photo...the presentation was excellent!) special, which was a great way to try several of the available options. Naza provided helpful and enthusiastic insight into each dish, the seasonings and preparation. Clearly a labor of love. Everything that I tried was excellent. A little tricky to find, as it's in a sort of food court alongside the ground floor of a condo building. The address per Google Maps is correct. Look for the "Flipped Kitchen" sign or otherwise just walk to the south side of the building and the food court is accessible from the street.

Very tasty Ethiopian vegetarian food ! Had a platter with turmeric rice and 2 stews with a salad. Owner is extremely pleasant and friendly as well. If you're in a mood for healthy and delicious food (who isn't?), this is highly recommended ! Located inside flip kitchen at 5210 Yonge St !

What a treat it was to discover Chic Vegan as we were searching for a place to eat in North York one day. The food was delicious, so homemade, and very filling. And more importantly, Naza is wonderful and we had a lovely conversation with her. We certainly plan to go back for more!

As others have mentioned, this is inside the FLIP Restaurants building. I was greeted with a smile as I came in, and got a Sampler plate which contained jerk soy ground, sweet potatoes and chickpeas along with a samosa. All of it was really good and I'll definitely be visiting again.

A wonderful way to spend a Saturday lunch. My friend had never tried vegan food before, and Chic Peas was on my list of establishments to try in the area. We shared a sampler platter between the two of us, and left with that sense of contentment that comes with eating comforting food. Will certainly be returning in the future. Thank-you, Naza and team, for the hospitality.

Love the flavours! I got a little bit of everything and oh my, everything was delicious. So nice to have a fully vegan option in North York! They’re just at 5210 Yonge St so definitely check them out

First time experiencing Chic Peas Veg, and definitely won't be the last. I wanted to try a couple of things, so I got the starter sampler. Every aspect, from the taste to the presentation, was incredible. The best Vegan Samosa I've ever had! Food left me feeling energetic and clear-headed! The welcoming atmosphere and the amazing staff were the icing on the vegan cake ;) You won't be disappointed!
