Went for a pint of Ghost ship ale that I saw was on tap before I got my train back home but unfortunately it ran out mid pour. So I went for the Flack Manor Hedge Hop which I have had before but this time it also must have been getting near barrel bottom as it tasted a bit fusty. Nonetheless as in a rush I drank most of it without quibble as I’m sure it would have got changed also without quibble. The bar staff were all on the ball. My issue is that having got the last seat outdoors the local bin men ( Welsh accents ??) seemed to take over but I don’t relish sitting on chairs having had the waste disposal coveralls on your chair. I could have objected but the rate of F’s that were coming out their mouths surprised me that this was tolerated by the public and JDW. Tim Martin needs to banish this behaviour similarly to football colours as he does. A poor show from JDW and Winchester. Please have standards.

It was Christmas market day, around lunch time, when we opted for the local Weatherspoon to rest our feet and grab some lunch. The place was heaving but we eventually found a table... in fact there's not much to say a part that the whole experience has been pleasant, without too much wait considering. The food was good enough for the prices, the drinks cold and the toilets were looked after regularly. It will not stand as a memorable time but it was decent.

Asked for a pint of black sheep. It came up water. Possibly cleaning fluid. Changed to shipyard. They poured some of it then the bar man went away the other barman topped it up with guineas. Ridiculous. I don't know if it's always like this but this was zbout the worst spoons I've been in.

Visited during peak hours, so surprised by the lack of waiting for the food, everything was fresh and to quality. Not too busy and felt very safe here. Best Spoons I've been to across the country, well done team, highly recommend!!

Ordered drinks through the app. Drinks were left on front of the bar unattended for 10-15 minutes. Anything could have happened to those drink while the bar staff were chatting amongst themselves and not doing their job. The manager needs to look into this issue. Other than the poor service, good selection of ales.

Another lovely spoons a short walk from the station (slightly downhill) with a small outdoor seating area out the front. The staff were lovely and chatty amongst themselves as well as with the punters. Staff were constantly walking around clearing away tables before cleaning them. The breakfast was usual great value and as I got there just before noon thought I would have a Guinness- which, you guessed it, was excellent. Oh, and the toilets are on the ground floor.

I work in hospitality I am both trained as a chef (not a microwave minder like most spoons boh staff) and a manager out front. This is possibly one of the worst spoons I've ever been in. My brothers burger was nice but the other 4 meals had a lot to be desired. My garlic bread was literally black (see pic attached) My cocktail pitcher (zombie) tastes like cheap coca cola sweets and no zombie should ever taste like that. It also came dark brown at the bottom and see through at the top. Someone didn't shake their pineapple juice before serving! Wholly underwhelming the only reason we came is because the 3 other places we tried were fully booked. Only positive were the toilets weren't 40 miles away. It was busy but not for food just drinkers. On my way to toilets *from back door of venue which is opposite end of restaurant* I saw 4 other tables eating and 2 ordering. On apps, not really an excuse for my pasta to come out cold and stodgy and my garlic bread to be so burnt it crumbles in my hand. Spoons was already bottom of barrel for me (I should know I used to work for them) but now I will genuinely never go back to a spoons. Then after spending 2.5 hours there all ordering food and drink I ordered the final round and I was I'D (I am 30) I explained we had been eating and drinking here for the past 2 hours and the waiter was very accusatory with us. That was the least of our worries though, hadn't seen my mum in 5 years meant to be a nice meal out was a nightmare.

Popped in to Spoons to get a quick breakfast to warm ourselves up from the horrible weather. We both had the standard breakfast which is great value and tasted good, although unfortunately it was barely warm which let down the whole experience. Coffee was good with included refills. Hot chocolate was very nice.

We ordered a chicken tikka masala. On the menu, it is stated that the curry comes with mango chutney, rice and naan, but in the end, this is what arrived at our table. No naan, no mango chutney :'(

Popped into the Old Gaolhouse on their curry night. Had a chicken korma with rice, garlic nan and Poppadoms. Chicken was very good, very tender pieces of breast. Nan bread was inedible sadly, cardboard comes to mind. The meal included an alcoholic drink for under £10, pretty good value.

Ok ,but food, not the best. Reminded me of microwave meal. Staff friendly enough, but have been to better.

Fast service, good quality standard Wetherspoons food. Nice to visit during the day for lunch, not advisable to go for food during peak times as it becomes very busy and is hard to get a table.

This is a large weatherspoons with plenty of seating arranged into different sections around the pub so you don't feel like your James up next each table. We went on a Saturday morning and the pub was not very bust we had breakfast, which was good and was served very quickly staff were helpful and friendly and were quick to clear tables. Did not have any beer's only coffee which was as good as it is normally. The pub does have history as the building is old there are some interesting information boards and photos to look at. In summary this is a typical city weatherspoons pub that was clean with quick service and reasonable prices.

Another Sunday breakfast visit. Fairly busy. Small breakfasts ordered today. Very good and very little time to wait. Well cooked and hot on arrival. Cheap good food , and is therefore the reason to return. One of several visits Breakfast only on this occasion. Normally a good variety on offer on menu..Cheaper than many other cafes or pubs offering breakfast. Very good service and food . Staff very good, Coffee refillable. Getting busier slowly, as restrictions are lifted. Parking in public car parks only.

You can never go wrong with a good Spoons, and this one is no exception. Staff are quick to clear tables, decor is warm, and the bathrooms are clean. Will add to this review again when I try food from this Spoons.

We came here for lunch and again later in the day for drinks before getting the train home. I ordered a pizza from the Christmas menu and it was lovely, our groups good all came out within a reasonable time considering how busy they were. The staff were helpful and everything was delicious. Although it was packed, the atmosphere of the place was really good with most people seeming to be in good spirits.

This pub is in an old historic building that used to be a gaol from about 1228. Now, a popular pub with good food, community vibe and in a good central location. We stopped here for lunch on a rainy Tuesday and enjoyed the Steak Club offerings. The sirloin was beautifully cooked, we loved that we could choose healthy options as sides (baked potato instead of fries.. or a mediterranean salad). We also enjoyed the warm drink on offer and was delighted to see the oat milk alternative is on offer. We'll come again!

Brilliant. Just visited for lunch on a Saturday in late November. The place is packed However the staff were very efficient and frendly the food was done well. Not flashy but one always knows what one is going to get

Full marks to the team who are serving , friendly ,pleasant but this has got to be one the worst spoons I've been in , the pic is outside the kitchens , really needs to be screened off , the menu seems to be limited , maybe to suit the needs of the student clientele, as with the toilets they've seen better days , which again is unlike spoons , the 2 stars are for the team members

Table service very quick for meals and drinks using the app even though it was a busy lunchtime. The staff were very friendly. The usual Wetherspoons excellent value for money.

Good Wetherspoon pub restaurant. Really popular on a wet Tuesday. We had a cracking value lunch and drink for less than a tenner and served by lovely staff. Don't know how they do it! 😎 👍 👍 👍

It's a Wetherspoons. Very similar to other pubs in the chain you'll get a decent meal at a reasonable price. Drinks are priced well. Because of this if you go later in the evening the crowd can be a bit rough but generally it's a pretty good place to go. It has been done up so the decor suits the buildings, the old gaolhouse.

Very busy at time of visit however it was very apparent that some customers were under 18, I spoke to door staff about this and they acknowledged this to be an issue due to Wetherspoons company policy of accepting Citizen Card as ID despite the fact these can be bought on line, easily and cheaply with no checks. Also drug dealing taking place again reported to door staff. Very cheap but that's all it has going for it.

Didn't seem busy for a Saturday afternoon. Plenty of empty tables available as we arrived at 1.45pm. Restaurant was clean, staff were friendly and food and drink orders came reasonably quick. All correct too. Toilets weren't very clean though but maybe they were due to be inspected.

Popped in for breakfast. Ordered at the bar as it didn't look like I could exchange the breakfast items on the app. Order taken quickly and efficiently by the bar staff. Food arrived soon after and it was hot and tasted great. Good coffee from the machine that is free refills

Visited for the first time, for breakfast one Sunday, a week or so ago. We had to move tables three times, because they obviously hadn't been cleaned from the night before. Tables were DISGUSTING, to the point where my bag made a loud sticky noise, as I picked it up! 🤢 Gross. Good value menu though and breakfast was nice, apart from the over-cooked, almost burnt sausage. We won't be going back.

Great place for a couple of pints or a snack. The manager's special, fish and chips with mushy or garden peas, at £4.99, was a very large portion of freshly cooked cod and amazingly good value. As usual with wetherspoon, friendly, helpful staff. And the toilets are on the ground floor! Well worth a visit.

👍 This was the first time I've been to Turtle Bay. Well designed and colourful, very Caribbean. I was with my nephew and he took me to treat me to Goat curry. As we walked in we were met by a pleasant gentleman who told us that there was no Goat curry? My nephew was disappointed but at least staff mem...
